now i dont know alot about subs but i will tell u this...all he did was hooked his sub up to some sort of output and then played increasing hertz of sound through it...thats why you cant hear the sub in the beginning, the megahertz of sound he was putting through was too low for the human ear to hear...so i hope that helped you...

If you cannot hear the sub, your audio equipment cannot reach that low. get a good computer subwoofer and you'll hear it. I have an Altec Lansing THX dual subs. It sounds like a helicopter. :)

It been pretty much stated already and I'm sure you're fully aware, but don't run your sub or any speaker that hard for that long otherwise you'll cause permanent damage to it. Especially with very low frequencies, because you'll either rip it, or more likely burn it out. There's only so much they can withstand, whether they come with automatic protection or not.
