Great tip. I'll be using this. There are preferred mesh types if you're in an area with flying foxes, as they can get in a nasty tangle and become injured in some mesh types.
I did a small version of that for my raised beds to use for Winter for plastic or shade in Summer. I must remember that for my trees but I havent seen any cockies around. Bet something will be after my cherries though. Thanks for sharing a great tip.
So I have around US$60,000 worth of Cockatoos and Galahs visit my small garden area every day. In fact one was on my kitchen table the other day . . . they just come in to my home, bold as brass, cheeky chappies!
This is an example of a bat and wildlife friendly solution - small mesh, white so it is visible, and stretched over a frame so bats do not get hopelessly entangled and just 'bounce' off. I wish more people would be as thoughtful when it comes to netting. Thanks for posting this
Brilliant. We are potting up fruit trees this year and they will need protection from evil birdies. You must have been thinking through my mind as I was debating doing the same to keep the intense heat off the tomatoes and cucumbers.
Look at that belly! lol Someone is eating well - lol
Great idea, I'll have to try that this year on my fruit trees, they get massacred by grubs and bugs before the fruit even get a chance. Not too mention crows.
I'm going to use my chickens as weed eaters and pest control this year to see if i can't improve my yields.

Hey Christian, put your chooks under the netting. They can eat bugs, fertilize your trees and keep down on the grasses.

That's funny that you are trying to get rid of cockatoos! Here in the US they sell for over 1000 US dollars at a pet shop lol!

Sucks about the birds, but it's a great idea. If you made it out of smaller screen you could get rid of some bugs too ;)
