I believe you're right, just because someone is a good singer doesn't mean they can sing all types of music. It's like saying a good musician can play all instruments and that's not always true (if ever). I'm sure a jazz trumpet singer would have trouble with an electric guitar. Since Ruby is the gentle type it's obvious she can't sing 'un-gentle' music like rock and roll or rap, she's more of a classical or easy listening singer.
