    lot different than it is now. Prudential as the sponsor then was a heck of a long way from T-Mobile's sponsorship of today, and to me, that was a good thing. I don't know exactly how to explain it, but I preferred the simpler halftimes of the past.

  • Yes, that is Greg Gumbel on the play-by-play. Months later, he would become the NFL Today studio host for the first of two stints with the show (1990-1993; 2004-2005) He also did the Chicago White Sox/ Toronto Blue Jays ALCS of '93 for CBS, along with two NFL play-by-play stints (1998-2003; 2006-) plus NCAA basketball tournament games. Between 1994 and 1997, he worked for NBC as a studio host for the NFL, and did NBA games.
