@JerryWuYT you're right, but in practice it doesn't translate so perfectly because people don't land the same way they take off (legs straight, arms raised), and hence one's center of mass is closer to the contact point at landing. This means that for a given vertical jump, actual hang-time will always be greater than theoretical hang-time when landing on the same surface.

It takes more than dunking to be in the NBA. I don't know what other skills this guy has, can he shoot? Distribute? Rebound? There are people in the NBA a foot taller than him who don't have to use as much energy to dunk or get up the floor so he is at a major disadvantage. Likely a significant overestimate, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could touch somewhere between 12'0'' - 12'3'' on his best jump. Clearly, better video evidence with detailed, accurate measurements is needed. The one done by James White is much more transparent - you know for sure he is right around 12'10'' on his best attempt that day.
