  • what kind of filter size is it for vixia hf20?

  • Has ANYONE found a lens hood that you can use with the Canon WD-H37 II lens? I have it hooked onto an HF200 and have seen guys with big boxy hoods, but can't find where to buy one for the life of me! Suggestions?

  • On the fisheye is there anyway u can make it so u dont see the little black parts of the lense in the corners of the video?

  • @SSRlongboarding yeah, you have to zoom in just a little bit

  • Excellent vid. Clearly demonstrates the difference between fisheye and wide angle.

  • where can you buyt these?

  • @mman200 i buy everything off ebay

  • @dickdog75 ohh thanks and im subbing

  • @mman200 thanks!

  • do you reccomend any brands that are decent, besides canon, im getting a hf s200 sometime this week :) and how do you kno the thread # of the lens

  • @mman200 the thread size for the hf s200 is 58mm. i have the canon wide-converter wd-h58 lens on it at all times. it is a great wide angle lens. besides that the opteka fisheye lenses are pretty inexpensive so those are the only ones i have tried honestly. you will love this video camera!

  • @dickdog75 oh ok thanks a lot but would it be necessary to have a uv filter? and a lens hood

  • @mman200 i would prefer to be able to use a filter for mine too (polarized) because i like to video fishing on the water. but even more than that i want as wide of shot as possible to get everything in the frame. you could just not use a wide angle lens and just put thread any 58mm filter on the hf s200 that you wanted.

there may be another wide angle lens out there that accepts filters. i would have to do some searching on google

  • @dickdog75 oh ok thanx

  • '

why this fish eye len have 4 black corners and little dark

  • @bestamerica because it is a cheaper one

  • Are there any wide angle lenses out there that eliminate the black corners?

  • @VonKaNon the canon wide angle lenses don't give the black corners. the wd-h37 and the wd-h58 are awesome lenses with no black edging at all

  • @dickdog75 Okay, I'm sold on it's quality, but why silver?! Black to match the camcorders would've been more sensible. Besides, I plan on using this to video nature and the silver would stand out too much.

  • @VonKaNon i have the 58mm canon wide angle lens too and they made it black instead of silver. i really don't mind the silver one, but the black makes it look like its part of the camera. you may be able to find another manufacturer besides canon that makes a wide angle for the camera but it might not be a good of quality (tokina) but i would stay away from the cheapo's on ebay for around $45

  • What is the difference between this lens and the much cheaper Canon WD-H37 II Wide Converter besides the II? are they the same or is the II an improvement?

  • i'm a filmmaker and NOOOOOO dude, it's NOT suppose to have that... That's is not Vignetting.. I know what that is.. that is the EDGE of the lens.. which means its not the right lens for that camera or cheap.. you can ask any real filmmaker or cinematographer..

if you want vignette.. do it in post

  • What all are u supossed to shoot with wide screens

  • Hey bud, sorry but that fisheye don't work with the hf20, you can see the edges..

Yea, you can zoom in but beats the point of lens, and not using full frame of sensor of image captured.

Just get the Raynox fish eye lens it's specified for this camera

  • @DramaKidStudioz thts called vig and this lens is meant to have it

  • I just ordered this lens converter, not realizing the rim would show in the shot. So my question is the same as Lakai's: did you have another filter (UV, perhaps) or spacer on the lens? I noticed that when I used a UV and Polarizing filter, I could also see the edge of the Polarizing filter in the shot. Annoying. I just posted a few vids I took with my new HF200, if you'd like to check out my page.

  • zoom a lil

  • @heartpursuer are you sure you're referencing the right lens. He tested two. The WD-H37 II was the first one and did not have an edge visible. The second one was a cheaper Opteka lens, also called "babydeath". (what a marketing wiz to make up that name)

  • @quadbravo

WHOA! Get your facts straight my friend! the baby death lens is a much more high quality and more exspensive lens compared to the shit stain WD-H37.

and they call it a baby death lens because its a much smaller version of a regular death lens, the baby death is supposed to fit on the smaller 37mm thread cameras unlike my death lens which fits on my 58mm threads on my GL1.

    get your facts straight.

  • @SH1FTY671 relax dude. yes the baby death will cost you more and yes the wd-h37 is an average wide angle. but one is a wide angle and the other is a fisheye which is like comparing apples and potatos. personally i think the black egdes suck on the smaller fisheyed but apparently you like it. it looks cheap and without regard to what you "paid" i guarantee you the manufacturing cost is not what you're suggesting.

  • @quadbravo i personally think that the wd-h37II is a much better lens. the fisheye just isn't sharp enough for me. i like them both though. except now i have the 58mm version of each lens for my canon hf s20

  • @quadbravo

How does it look cheap? its just Vignetting, alright it's your own personal preference and i'll leave it at that, i wont go on.

and you pay for the wideness of the lens not just the look of the lens.

it just depends on what youre filming, if youre like me and film skateboarding you want the widest lens possible and a lens like the babydeath is perfect.

  • @SH1FTY671 I would not call that vignetting because it is not due to light or correctable through zoom. It's just the edge of the lens. It's also not uniform. The left corners are more prominent showing some design or manufacturing issue that was off by a few thou. If it were symetrical it would would have been better but it's not. Search on "keith mokris" and click 1st vid. That's a well done vid with fisheye shots.

  • @quadbravo I'm not sure about how much you know about camera's but most filmer's / photographers all know that if the lens is off its because of the threads of a camera, not because the manufacturers.

Opteka makes their lens' from a CNC machine i believe, not manmade.

  • @SH1FTY671 Please. I know plenty of photographers including Keith Mokris. Most don't know bean dip about manufacturing or what a Moresiki or Haas is but that's irrelevant. All camera parts are machined including the lenses. Lenses are machined with diamond blades. It's hugely complex and manually intensive. The lens was not misthreaded. The mfg output is a function of the setup and tooling and this conversation has moved beyond your current life experience. You're young. Move on.

  • are you using any spacers?

  • The difference is huge yes, way more lanscape with the fisheye, but I just can't get past the weird curve it puts on the picture

  • i want the lens i checked on ebay. its like 100$... i was like shit i onley wanna make my vixia hf200 better.

  • Huge diff.

  • yep good for shooting video in tight quarters too. great lens
