I preferred Zinedine Zidane at the time and did not like Rivaldo, but now I see what a great footballer he was. He was fast, skilful, strong and had a great eye for goal. I STILL think Zidane is at the top of the pile in the last couple of decades, but Rivaldo is certainly a special player.
his secret? he ran with confidence and power. he kept most of his dribles simple, inside outside cuts and beat you in speed. of course he did some fancy things sometimes, he's a footballer, from time to time, we all show off :)
Mi idolo, que grade fuiste dentro y fuera del campo.Tenias una zurda magica, que maravilla ver este video y recordar todos los grades momentos que nos hicistes pasar.Gracias por todo, los cules siempre te estaremos agradecidos.
@hovsec yet ronaldinho hasn't achieved or isn't as much an icon as this guy was. being a legend is not only about the dribbles which this video enables us to see, but how much you represent for your team. and if we judge from that Rivaldo clearly is better
@molyvenson true, imo rivaldo was the real star of brazil win in 2002, ronaldo was great but ronaldo was the striker so yeh he scored most of the goals, but rivaldo was one of the top scores and he was playin in midfield and even assisted most of the ronaldo goals. people dont give him as mch attention anymore becaus of his play acting incident.
rivaldo was kick by barca, and then ronaldinho....in future messi will follow the're way...barca not appreciate the player like ronaldinho and rivaldo who bring too much succes to the team...at least let them retire in barcelona....i believe that when messi age is 28...barca will sell him to the other team...
@malangkiss I ALWAYS SAY THIS!! I am glad someone else notices. As soon as they think a toy is broken, they just discard it and play with their new one.
@malangkiss Maybe at some clubs. I am just glad there are some clubs who cherish their legends. I think of Fiorentina fans building a statue in Batistuta's honor after he stayed with them through some of their darkest times. They even celebrated his scudetto win with Roma. And Totti - Roma fans realise how lucky they are to have him. Scholes and Giggs at United... it doesn't always have to be the Barca/Real/Arsenal way. :)
Aw man. This guy inspired me to play football. Messi and Ronaldinho are the icons of Barcelona now but Rivaldo really made me start loving Barca. Will never forget that hattrick against Valencia. Wow.
@nieto1992 Aye. He's my favourite player of all time. THe sheer audacity of him. He could score from anywhere and at any time. He scored from his own half, he scored from the corner flag in a cup final, all kinds of bicycle kicks and set pieces, chipped penalties, placed penalties, solo dribbles, volleys, headers, diving headers, backheels, lobs, deflected shots, predator goals AND was an amazing passer of the ball. Where as some are world class in 2-3 areas he is world class in 5-6!! :O
@Christoffski what is "backheel"...??i can speak english but not that well....can you show me a video of rivaldo and show me in which second he does that "backheel"....thanksss.....
@passavloss He scored a few in his career. But not in this video. Watch "Rivaldo - True Legend by KiJu " if you want to see one of them. It's not his best, though.
@Christoffski i think that his goal agains athletic bilbao is probalby a "backheel"....)))....one more question....i ve read in rivaldo's bio that during his days in brazil, one day hi got injured while he was trying to jump a wall....that wall had fallen down oh rivaldo's right leg....he has a scar as a reminder....do you know if that incident affected his right leg...??and because of that now,he cant shoot with that...(although he has scored 3-4 goals in his carreer with that)....thanks....)))

I just don't think he liked it. He has autism and probably believes in the horse and carriage theory. An F1 car is driven by the rear wheels and the front ones steer it. Rivaldo perfected his left foot for striking and caressing the ball - the right was used to propel him. It was a very powerful and agile leg. Like an owls neck!! Underrated. People ignore the leg, focusing too much on the foot. Like the elephant in the room it caused more damage than people realise. Standing foot. :) The trigger
@Christoffski hey man...i ve told u I cant speak english that well and you are talking to me about horses and carriages theories......whats all these stuff...???i dont understand anything...sorry,but english is not my mother tongue....i ve just asked u if that incident in Brazil affected his right leg...??I know that he perfetcted his left foot after that and is logic.....my question is very clear....
@passavloss What I mean is that he used his right leg to get the most out of his left foot. I don't think the incident affected it. I just don't think he liked shooting on it.
@Christoffski I think that if he could make an average good shoot with his right foot,he would have scored much more goals than he already did.....but of course he liked shooting with his left...its obvious.....thanks....))

@passavloss I'm sure if he'd played in a better Barca he'd have scored more goals. As it is he scored 8 goals in 2 world cups and got 25-30 a season.
