the only realistic game of air combat is combat flight simulator. in this games(this, blazing angels,....) if u recieve enemy fire u can fly perfectly only u have some smoke. in combat flight simulator u have a lot of errors in electronic, hidraulic, pneumatic.... sistes so u can NOT fly normally. the problem of that game is that it is so old, they must make a new version

If you want realistic games, then get the fuck out and do them in real life for fucks sake. I like arcade style games, its just more fun and enjoyable, unlike those hard controlling games that need you to literally twist your fucking fingers in the keyboard / gamepad.

Heya Man everyone has their opinions... But hey, it was not MEANT to be that realistic okay.

First, this game was made because MANY, and including me as well, are bad at simulators, hard control, take lots of time to master it. this ARCADISH game can make them enjoy the life as WW2 pilot while don't have to remember EVERY controls on the keyboard,joystick etc. I can play this game without joystick fine and have fun as well. and It is THE GAME,it was not meant to be realistic like simulators OK?

AC doesn't have complex control, but it's still a good series.

Though, the music and plot in ACs are much better than HOE.

@deco02 I DID remember. I love all of those AC series and, if possible, I'll do anything to get all of the games in the series. Ace Combat is one of the best flight-action games ever. The plots are good too. There are twists, drama, epicness and much more. The musics is AWESOME. But they are set in modern flight combat man. Sometimes we want to be just a simple WW2 pilot, not an F22 pilot, who went on killing spree. So, that's why I think that HOE and HOTP is the 'WW2 version' of Ace Combat.

I agree with you, but I can only give advice to you - play Lock on or Sturmovik and you will have better enjoyment from game - everyone (including me:) wasn't hte best pilot when he started to play, but when you learn to fly in simulators, you will love it

well every time i play online there is 1 room in every mode of play from 1-6 players play online but they are enough (i mean about 6 players every hour of the day i dont say that the players are the same all the time) and they are enough cuz i played with 10 players at once (10 aces) and even with my joystick i couldnt kill 4 of them :P The game is awsome you should try it :)

Just got this game and it kicks ass so much! ive done about 300 kills already and about 30 ace kills. Favorite plane right now is P-51A Mustang

Hint: To get an Ace Kill, close up on your target, wait for the reticule to reach red, press and hold L1, then manually aim for the yellow spots on the plane with the LT

To play this game on pilot or ace the 2 things you need is weapons and armor. You need a plain whit good weapons for air to air and air to ground, you need good armor so your plain can take a lot of hits because in this game you will take damage all the time!!! In my opinion the best plain to play the game on any setting is Beaufighter TF Mk X....It has 6 machine guns and 4 cannons and 8 rockets, awesome air to air and even air to ground firepower with its cannons and machine guns!!

Played this on 360 - easier to play and more fun than Il-2 for my 2c.

Gameplay is fun, got some cool features - energy attack, ace kill etc.

Also, it doesn't take it self too seriously like il-2 - which I like =) You can enable pro controls if you want in HoE, but I prefer arcade style.

More fun IMO. Play HoE for fun gameplay =)

Play Il-2 if you want a sim where your plane drops out of the sky all the time and it takes 20 minutes to kill something.

trust me m8 , i dont know if you've ever played it , but the best WW2 fighter game for the PS2 is 'Secret weapons Over normandy' an its a LOT LOT LOT better than 'heroes of the pacific', it has a waaaay better feel and some wicked missions, like in a couple of missions ur in the gun turret on the bottom of a flying fortress, theres very good bombing and torpedo missions too , it even has a dam buster mission were you have to drop bouncing bombs at a certain speed an altitude.
