A former Blackwater employee and an ex-US Marine who has worked as a security operative for the company have made a series of explosive allegations in sworn statements filed on August 3 in federal court in Virginia.

Blackwater Contractors Flee Afghanistan to Avoid Charges
Two US contractors with the private military firm formerly known as Blackwater have reportedly fled Afghanistan to avoid prosecution for a fatal unprovoked shooting earlier this month. The two fleeing contractors and another two colleagues reportedly fired on a vehicle in Kabul after a night of drinking. One Afghan civilian was killed and another two were wounded in the attack.
Defense attorney Daniel Callahan identified the two fleeing contractors as Steve McClain and Justin Cannon. Callahan says they fled their compound on Saturday and have now made it back to the United States.

The U.S. military is investigating a shooting incident in which four contractors from the re-named firm formerly called Blackwater are accused of killing an Afghan man after a traffic accident, a spokesman said on Sunday.
Just like in Iraq, a "shadow army" has been serving alongside American servicemen and women in Afghanistan. So far, it is at least 70,000 strong. Private contractors now indispensable to the U.S. military as it wages war are expected to grow and much surpass that number as U.S. troops there double from 35,000 to nearly 70,000 by 2010.
"In short, we will be bringing as many contractors as we are troops especially KBR [Kellogg, Brown and Root] because they now feed and house the military, and the military has no real choice, because they have let that part of their logistics atrophy," pointed out Dina Rasor, director of the Follow the Money Project and co-author of Betraying our Troops: The Destructive Results of Privatizing War.

I think that arming Iraq against Iran in the 50's (60's?) and then turning around and invading them was wrong. Trying to link Iraq to Al-Qaeda (9/11) to produce invasion was wrong. When embassy officials proposed the price for the guard's life be pegged at either $100,000 or $250,000, a State diplomatic-security official countered with $15,000. The figure needed to be lower, the diplomatic-security official contended, so Iraqis wouldn't "try to get killed to set up their family financially." The US Army doesn't even fix its own food, much less it's AFV's! The Air Force hires Private sub-contractors for engine rebuilding. The Navy hires private shipyards to maintain it's ships!
And the REALLY messed up thing is (and this makes me laugh) we, the taxpayers, end up paying 5-10 times more for these contractors to do the same jobs the military could be doing itself.

ABC News is reporting the Obama administration has extended the private military firm Blackwaters contract in Iraq.
The contract was due to expire this month. Its extension is said to be indefinite until another deal with the military firm DynCorp is enacted.
The news comes just two weeks before the second anniversary of the Baghdad killings of seventeen innocent Iraqis by Blackwater guards.

Hats off to Mark Mazzetti of the New York Times for ferreting out what it was that sent CIA Director Leon Panetta scurrying over to Congress last June.
According to Mazzetti, Panetta's top lieutenants, many of them holdovers from the last administration, had just told him that, under President Bush, they had farmed out assassinations to their Blackwater subsidiary. I use "they" advisedly, since the CIA holdovers that had kept Panetta in the dark continue to function as Panetta's top managers.

Blackwater Contractors Flee Afghanistan to Avoid Charges
Two US contractors with the private military firm formerly known as Blackwater have reportedly fled Afghanistan to avoid prosecution for a fatal unprovoked shooting earlier this month. The two fleeing contractors and another two colleagues reportedly fired on a vehicle in Kabul after a night of drinking. One Afghan civilian was killed and another two were wounded in the attack.

Just like in Iraq, a "shadow army" has been serving alongside American servicemen and women in Afghanistan. So far, it is at least 70,000 strong. I think that arming Iraq against Iran in the 50's (60's?) and then turning around and invading them was wrong. Trying to link Iraq to Al-Qaeda (9/11) to produce invasion was wrong. What was done to Valerie Plame and Sybel Edmonds was wrong. Blackwater mercenaries, wrong. Too many wrongs, not enough right.
As for the UN not having an army, etc. The Un placed economic sanctions vs Iraq for invading Kuwait. Also, they formed a coalition against Iraq with the help of 34 countries!

Although the Praetorians have similarities, they are unlike any of the regular Legions of the Roman Empire. Their nine cohorts (one less than a legion) were larger, the pay and benefits were better, and its military abilities were reliable. well they really dont need to be held by ''any'' laws becaus ethey can work for anybody so therefore they should have no laws except for their own. i dont see what all the hype about blackwater being hostile they arent hostile they are mercs their attitude and actions are based on their contracts. as for getting away with stuff that regular soldiers are court martialed over blackwater isnt USA ,military so they shouldnt have to abide by military law. war is all they know and they are paid for it
