His left arm collapses in his second jump because he's under and therefore had a bad take off. Also, Bubka has even said he does not push with his left arm he actually PULLS! he doesn't straighten his arm in that jump the pole actually does. Additionally, Bubka has also said he's not the greatest athlete. He's said that hes competed against many athletes that are more athletic then him but they don't beat him because they don't use the right technical model.
I have done my research and I've done it very well. I have also met Alan Launder and Roman Botcharnikov both close personal friends of Bubka and Petrov his coach. Granted yes i have not Bubka himself but I have met personal friends of his and I've discussed technique with them. So please don't tell me to do my research, I've done it, and believe me I didn't believe what they were saying was true at first but after discussing it with Alan and Roman and then trying and teaching it. It works.
Are you dense? You have to pull in order to get inverted it's impossible to vault well otherwise. Show me a vaulter that doesn't pull with their bottom arm... Americans are so caught up in the idea of bending the pole by pushing on it. The pole will bend regardless based on you speed and your mass. it's pole vaulting not pole bending.
@pvkoala21 well upon initail take off you push your left elbow out trying to create a window. When you are at the top of your vault you are right; where the person must use his left arm to pull.
@wrestlepwn dude... their is a pull. you push up at take off and after that you pull, thats the petrov model. nick doesnt coach the petrov model hes different he believes in pushing the pole up the entire time.
@starkey480 i know, that is later in the vault though. the other guy said that he pulled UPON TAKE OFF. i said this, "he does not pull with his left arm upon take off". after he said "His left arm collapses in his second jump because he's under and therefore had a bad take off. Also, Bubka has even said he does not push with his left arm he actually PULLS!". i assumed me meant upon take off.
i got what you said in an email notification. you said earlier "Also, Bubka has even said he does not push with his left arm he actually PULLS!".
the way you worded this makes it seem like he pulled upon takeoff! yes you pull once you are inverted. and being american has nothing to do with bending the pole. i was taught the petrov model and have done my research as well. i dont know where you are from, but it doesnt matter. just cause i live in the US doesnt mean im stupid.

lol he never cleared 6.16 his highest was 6.15 indoor back in 1993

1 - OMG LOOK AT THE HEIGHT HE HAD OVER 6.16!!!!!!!!
2 - OOOMMMGGG look at his left arm in the second jump - it collapses due to how massivley stiff the pole is - THEN HE STRAIGHTENS IT AGAIN.
Men should not be capable of this act.
Therefore, bubka is god.

@wrestlepwn yea Bubka takes off every so slightly outside. This allows him to get off the ground better before his pole hits the back of the box.
