I just love these films Rod; you couldn't possibly post just this one, or the previous trucking down under at the normal speed - that would totally make my day - it really would! I can't explain, but I just love watching these films of the roads round Melbourne - brings back so many memories. Shall leave with you, but yeh, your stuff is just fabulous!
Nice movie are you running a Detroit or a CAT it doesn't sound like a Cummins, what sort of gearbox have you got fitted it doesn't sound like a roadranger it sounds like a Spicer paddle thats being clicked through the gears the sound is unique.
A good video, I like the mix of fast and low speeds, it certaily makes for a more exciting ride. I shall now look at some of your other video's, have just viewed the monsters, all I can say is WOW!
nice camera work! I am interested to know which type of truck is more popular in Aus? Are the European types such as Volvo, Scania and Daf taking over from the popular American models? I think myself that the European ones have the edge for refinement and ecomony. P.s. I have driven all the above European trucks but I have only sat in a left hand drive American cab and the vision is terrible with split wind-screens and exhaust stacks in your mirrors.
Euro trucks may be better refined, but that comes at a cost. Euro trucks do not seem to handle the high KM's over Australias often poor roads, that the more rugged US designed trucks do, so reliablilty and just as importantly resale value suffer. The truck in the vid is an 80's build and not all that uncommon on the road here, but you do not see many 80's build euro trucks doing interstate highway work. Search new and used Australian truck prices and see for yourself.
I am not sure why, but I enjoyed watching this. The video is very smooth when playing fast... like playing a video game. Love the sounds.

@Ar1k1 I did say it was a CAT in the description but I'm only the cameraman. gm16v149 will be able to answer your other questions, it's his rig.

@Rocketboy1950 My bad I didn't read the description properly, thanks for posting this movie nice editing.

@fnh8340 There are certainly a lot of European trucks on the road but I'll leave it to the experts to give you a more informative answer.
Rocketboy1950 1 month ago
@fnh8340 No, European trucks are not taking over. Kenworth is #1 seller in class 8 by a long way.

what is this you missed showing the steam club on F.G.rd :)
I like how some of the Melbourne drivers try to keep to the speed limits.
But other wise nice Rig, and good filming.

@theshaddowaust The relics on FTG Road aren't all that photogenic as you whizz by at 70+

That rig sure does sound nice . I'm heading to truck driver school and hopefully I'll be manning one of those big trucks .
