i'm not disputing that... i'm just saying that boost helps... now, n/a the 2.3 would only make about 120 hp... with turbo, i'm getting right around 360 rwhp... revving to 6k RPM... pretty mild daily tune for a ranger... not sure where you think a ford engine is "riced out" though... it's just as american as your chevy... but if i keep my foot out of it, my ranger(that's right, a truck) gets around 25 mpg... now if i had a 5.0 turbo...
i disagree with the LTXCamaro... you don't need big cubes to have big power... don't get me wrong, they help(that's how semi trucks haul so much, big cubes and boost) but the boost is how we get good power without needing a huge engine... i would bet my ford 2.3 OHC turbo would decimate most LT1's i've seen... all that the SBC(small block chevy) v8 really does is give people in trailer parks something to tinker when they're not growing their mullet...
@TheLTXCamaro are you fuckin stupid you really think turbos are stupid ha your a fuckin joke dude go back to your white trash LT1 camaro in the end it will be suckin in the exhaust of a boosted car you may get a jump off the line but check in front of you when your halfway down the strip oh and also we love turning down the boost so we get better fuel mileage
@xXxchipperchopperxXx lmfao what are you some stupid jap? dont forget about pearl harbor you little bitch hahaha and im puerto rican and cuban you dumbfuck. you think rednecks own chevy's? lmfao its just proof how clueless you are hahaha, our cars have way more torque and we can spin them to 9000rpms and make 500rwhp with no power adders on pump gas doing 10's N/A hahahaha there is no replacement for displacement and i have 176k miles on mine and still runs strong hahaha
@TheLTXCamaro am i a jap no im not and were does pearl harbor come into this you have no right speaking about it since you had nothing to do with it and i said white trash it doesnt mean rednecks a redneck is a redneck and a lt engine getting to 9K ha thats a load of shit unless you build the fuck out of it wasting all that money on an LT when you could get a better LS your fuck in dumb oh and BTW my engine redlines at 10K lets take them around a track not in a straight line
@xXxchipperchopperxXx lmfao you are getting dumber by the minute LT1;s can rev to 9000rpm you dumbfuck but you need titanium everything for it to last. My LT1 only revs to 7k you fucktard and im making just under 500rwhp in a daily driver form and im getting an LSX 454 for my next engine. you little bitch. hahaha and my car would rip you car a new ass!! i bet your car cant do high 10's with no power adders hahahaha bottles are for babies and so are forced induction!!
@TheLTXCamaro maybe you should read my last comment again you moron i said they can only rev to 9K if you build the fuck out of it and if i was to completely build my engine it would rev probably over 14K with less weigh NO TURBO NO NITROUS OXIDE less moving parts making more power all that and its only a 1.3 oh and BTW i would never take my car to strip its fuckin retarded you call that shit racing you drive in a straight line just gotta go straight, shift fast take that shit around that track
That is fucking beautiful, btw you should have warned me about this explicit material because my parents are home...also have skinny jeans on LOL I want me a miata NOW
if the mixture was 'leaner' you wouldnt have that so early... if it is rich you get excactly that, high exhaust temperature very early, not particularly good in the long run for your turbo or your cat converter
@irregularzero~ thats why u use strong metal... and lots of it. The most common problem on cheaper manifolds is that the flange is too thin and it deforms easier, causing exhaust leakage. And also cheaper manifolds crack around the welds (cheaper metal).
Almost any auto engine when running above 60% power output does this, heat above 2000 f. This high heat is caused by the flame front or fuel being burned long after it leaves the engine. Burning fuel in the manifold does not push the piston. It is the result of the poor piston dynamic of a crank driven piston.
@cossiemk2 Carnot's theorem defines what limits a heat engine’s efficiency. In simple terms the theorem states that the temperature difference (delta T) of the working fluid (air fuel charge) between its hottest condition and its temperature when exhausted as measured on an absolute scale over (divided by) the highest absolute temperature reached by the fluid, will accurately define the absolute highest potential efficiency of a working engine. That’s why glowing hot pipes waste gas!
I've been working on engines for 15 years now and I know what works and what doesn't.
I have seen Diesel engines running at 900C exhaust and beyond running at peak effeciency. And they run red hot exhausts too. I'm gonna stop now because I can't convince you anyway. Have nice day
@jamesdond1 That is my original point, It is time to dump the crank driven piston engine... Its poor piston dynamic is a major flaw.... Band-aid fixes is all we have done for the last 40 years.....
@marek0086 Well in my mind when fuel is being burnt outside of the actual cylinder its a waste of energy and therefore inefficient and at the same time creating unnecessary heat which will only increase the air temp in the engine bay, faster heat soak.
@marek0086 no i didnt, i learn something everyday. Everything i know is from reading or experience, thx. So the mani isnt necesarily glowing because fuel is being burnt outside the cylinder? I do know that exhaust gasses are brutaly hot i just didnt know how much energy is lost in the combustion. Im in the process of going Fi with my miata, also tubular and 3inch turbo back but its v-band.
how is this in anyway cool or performance related. i mean a cast iorn maniflod will never do this . so why these crappy manifolds that heat up ?

Almost any auto engine when running above 60% power output does this, heat above 2000 f. This high heat is caused by the flame front or fuel being burned long after it leaves the engine. jamesdond1 11 months ago 33
@jamesdond1
You seem to forget that the exhaust temps caused by a late ignition/large cam overlap powers the turbo?
ERM above 60% power? Nowadays exhausts/cats run red hot at only 500C that's just above idle!
Engines are made to run hot nowadays to make them more fuel efficient.

Theorem this or that.
The proof is in the pudding.

Not the other way around!

metalicsupra 5 months ago
@metalicsupra No, he's saying that this is normal in any engine.

@metalicsupra~ it could be that its just a very powerful engine. Hotter combustion means more power... remember?.

@marek0086 Well in my mind when fuel is being burnt outside of the actual cylinder its a waste of energy and therefore inefficient and at the same time creating unnecessary heat which will only increase the air temp in the engine bay, faster heat soak.
metalicsupra 2 months ago
@metalicsupra~ The exhaust gasses of a boosted engine are HOT. Just because the manifold glows red hot doesnt mean its got a bad tune.
Do u know that around 50% of the heat energy in a (properly running) gasoline piston engine is wasted out the exhaust!
