  • after Hawke/Keating left the ALP went down the drain... After costello/howard left... the libs went down the drain

  • Please come back Peter.

  • I have a lot more admiration for this guy then i did when i was a Teen.He was much more of a fiscal conservative compared to Howard.

At times Howard came across as a ''conservative keynesian'' especially around elections.I think government is getting too big in Australia

  • all your labor supporters have fucking shit for brains. liberal government believes in working hard to earn your money. labor supporters want money for nothing, how will our australian economy ever succeed out of this 300+billion dollars labor debit with bludgers like you who dont want to apply yourself to further not only your income but the australian infrastructure in the construction side of things.

  • fuck you labor supporters have shit for brains, you all want money for nothing. liberals belief system consists of hardworking australians earning a higher wage due to their determination in the workforce. what is the point of trying to work better if bludgers are getting paid the same wage. use your heads you dumb shits

  • @blakeyboyto u liberal party supporters are shit all over if ur not rich or a greedy company owner ur fucked and theyll do nothing for u

  • Bring Costello back, Rudd's a joke

  • he'll be back.

  • Well the "talented young liberals" have "had their go" and they suck. Come back Peter.

  • How are your book sales going Peter? Last time i checked, the publishers were looking at a loss - so much for your great economic management!

  • No a bad legacy he traded 96 billion of so called Labor debt for 600 billion of household debt.

  • This was the biggest do nothing treasurer we had ... wheres the record!!!

  • This is the only man who can and SHOULD lead us to the next elecetiopn, his experience and foresight is beyond what any media stunt Labour pm could offer.

    GET COSTELLO BACK!!!!

  • we had the best people running the country. i know peter costello is the best leader we as a country can have. peter if you see this you can still change your mind

  • please come back and be treasurer mr costello.... PRETTY PLEASE!!!! =] =] this country needs you in that position, so come back to shadow treasurer and we can win at the next election, the economy will definitely need you by then!

  • Thanks kevvys1a1woos for the video. I will keep it for historical purposes. i dont think we have seen the end of Peter Costello though, i am hoping he will be back soon. As the best treasurer this country has ever seen we are going to need him more than ever. We need to get rid of Rudd now before he causes any more damage.

    Thanks again

  • As I've said on my channel, I post these videos for informative purposes, I don't post them for haters of the Liberal party to vent. So if that's all you want to do, please don't bother posting, as your comments will be deleted. There are plenty of pro-Labor videos on YT where you can do that.

  • Thank kevvy1a1woos for your video. it will be great to keep on file. I am hopeful that Peter will be coming back though, with all the chaos Rudd is causing we will need him.

    Thanks again

  • So you censor your videos?

You only allow pro Liberal comments on here?

  • No, but I remove comments that are derisive or purely to promote the Labor cause. Also for some reason I don't get notified of all comments, so please let me know if any comments are not showing up. Thanks.

  • Good riddance, a party that picks on kids and single parents are morally bankrupt. So single parents stuck it right back at em, lets hope welfare to work goes the way workchoices is. This bloke would never had made PM, he is fair dinkum kidding himself...

  • This sole parent, mother of four, two disabled, did not stick it to them. She voted for them because I have never been so well looked after. Maybe I get more pension than you do, maybe I watch my spending, maybe I don't have a flat screen TV and only a computer for the kid's education. Too late Mr Rudd. I've already saved up.

  • I have two little twin girls to look after, (Superdad) and Centrelink & co are hounding me to get back to work, "mutual obligation" they call it!

    What a joke.

I have paid enough taxes to buy Parliament house in my life, so yeah bring on mutual obligation and give me my taxes back I will be fine - thank you. Ahh yeah right that is going to happen? Hmm...?

  • You're absolutely right Superdad. Mutual obligation would be great. I can't even find the kid's fathers.

  • Truly I'm sorry about that, I know it's a hard world and raising them on your own hey, its a FULL TIME job, but lets think about the kids and make them the best we can, it's not about money, just makes more heartless grubs like Howard. The Liberals just lost the plot lets face it... Maybe they were in touch for a little while, but what is the saying absolute power absolutely C________PTS?

  • I don't do anything else but do the best I can. For me, money helps and I can tell you that I was broken in the Keating years. I agree that the Liberals lost touch in the very last part of the end term. However, I had never, never been better off financially and I thank them for that. Good economy = great help for people in a bad situation like me. By the way what is C___PTS? LOL ;)

  • By the way what is C___PTS?

Sorry it means = Absolutely corrupt. Libs had control of the senate. They had plenty of chances to do the right thing, like scrap the Family Law Court and the pig lawyers and grubs in the misery trough industry, that infest it. I think we will do better under Labor and if we don't we will vote the bastards out as well I guess... Its all fun and games.

  • He 'declines' the leadership. Pfff, he'd never get elected into the leadership position anyway...

  • It was his for the taking after the election, but he knocked it back! He wanted to be PM, but wasn't willing to be leader of the Opposition.

  • The notion Costello would automatically succede is false, it was just more lies and deception from the Libs to feign unity, which we now know.

  • And you know this, how exactly?

  • Because Nelson is the leader of the Liberal party. I thought you'd know that.

  • You're overlooking just one simple fact- Costello withdrew his hat from the ring. In fact that's what this video is all about! Your claim that 'it was just more lies and deception' is pure nonsense.

  • Prior to the Libs election rejection, Howard quoted "Peter Costello will be elected leader of the Liberal party unopposed". Costello is standing right beside him with his idiotic smirk, he could have said something then. However, Brendan Nelson is now the leader of the Liberal party causing Howards lie to be exposed.

  • Howard said Costello would be leader of the party in govt. Costello declined to accept leadership of the party in opposition. It was always his choice. Howard can't speak for Costello. Costello changed his mind. Howard was just a surprised as everyone else. No deception involved.

  • I think deception is the key, Costello should have let the Australian public know he would not take the Lib leadership if the Libs lost. He didn't, he sustained the ruse via his silence.

  • You don't KNOW that he made that decision before the election. Anyway, you're just going to keep saying the same thing, so there's no point to discussing further.

  • That's what everyone says when they lose an argument.

  • I haven't lost. You've failed to address the points I've raised, as any sensible person can see. And since reason is lost on you, as I said, no point in continuing. goodbye!

  • Kevvy, did you ban shwell from adding extra comments? That's a very typical attitude from a Lib, take a tissue and build a bridge son.

  • Perhaps you'd like to explain then how his claim of 'lies and deception' is justified? He makes this claim and puts it up as fact, without anything to back it up. I have given good reasons why it would not be true, but he just ignores them and repeats the claim. That is not debate, that is stupidity. I'll address reasonable argument (if I wish) but not stupidity. I'm not here just so ppl can give me a hard time.

  • Let's look at the facts- He has made two totally unsubstantiated claims, viz. Howard lied because he knew Costello wouldn't lead in opposition, and Costello had decided before the election he would not lead in opposition. It's simply conjecture.

  • The fact is you censored someone.

  • Yep! my video, my right. But he's free to tell his lies on other ppls vids if they'll let him. Now goodbye!

  • He didn't lie but you just did. If censorship is the best you can do then so be it.

  • He did! he said.."it was lies and deception from the Libs to feign unity" He cannot claim that is so without evidence. And contrary to your claim that 'censorship is the best' I can do, I have given him, and now you, perfectly valid arguments why it might not be so, but he, and now you, ignore them, so you can't expect to be taken seriously either. Stop wasting my time. Goodbye to you too!

  • I suggest you watch four corners tonight and then apologise.

  • Apologise for what? that was not known when he posted. His claim was unfounded. get off my case!

  • His claim is well founded, was known when he posted, as he knew, and now you will after four corners. Show some guts and apologise.

  • The reason he gave for his assertion of lies and deception was because Nelson is now leader of the party. duh! And how you can speak for him I don't know, except that you're probably him since you only joined YT on the 15th. Feb and your only activity seems to be attacking me. Why you have this vendetta against me, I don't know but I have no interest in it, so goodbye to you too!

  • VOTE LIBERALS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brendan Nelson should be Liberal Party leader because he looks very serious and he has a Doctorate.

  • He also thinks intelligent design is a valid alternative scientific explanation for life on this planet.

  • Hey Mate,

I feel sorrow for the Australian people and am sure that we will return to the Liberal Government in the not to distant future. Who's your tip for the Liberal Party leadership?

    Cheers,

    Sam.

  • Hey Sam.. yes the wheel will turn again. Who's my tip? Malcolm Turnbull, altho Nelson would be good too. Both very sharp, and would take the fight to Labor, but Malcolm would be better I think. Time to kick some Labor butt!!

  • Shut up and pack

  • kevin 07. costello never. lol.

  • What a wimp! His knife was deep in Howard's back and when the opportunity arose he ran for the hills, how pathetic is that?

  • Where's the smirk now? Watch the carnage unfold...

  • I think you'll see the 'smirk', for want of a better word, at about the time he says the Australian people need to hold Rudd accountable for his promises, because he knows, as most thinking Australians know, that he'll never be able to keep them all. BTW if you wanna see smirk, just take a look at Gillard.

  • Thinking Australians voted for Rudd - which counts you out mate. Howard stayed too long - and his legacy, among many things, is a shattered Liberal Party in complete and utter disarray. Menzies atleast knew when to go - Howard stayed for Howard - not for the Liberal Party, and certainly not for the country. There are no smirks in the ALP - just complete relief that (as Keating put it) the toxicity of the Coalition has finally come to an end. Your circle is shrinking...

  • Every time she's on tv she's got a smirk on her face.

  • I think you're confusing a smirk with a smile, and after such an emphatic win on Saturday, after 11 years in opposition, I think that Julie Gillard is quite entitled to smile at the prospect of becoming the Deputy Prime Minister. I think it's rather ungracious of you to want to deprive her of expressing that natural human response...it's just sour grapes on your part...I think you could deal with it better.

  • Well it's obvious that no matter what I say, you'll criticise it. But she's always had it. It was quite apparent in those earlier debates too. But yes, it does seem more like a smile now.

  • Julie Gillard has well and truly earned the right to smile, and I suspect we will be seeing plenty more smiling from everyone in the future.

  • Julia Gillard is (to put it abruptly) a barren communist.

  • Rrrrright...moving on swiftly.

  • lol, but she is! ^^, just an observation

  • ...and Tony Abbott is morally bankrupt - loliamw (laughs outragiously loud in a manical way) - something I've noticed

  • ...another thing. People like you have a selective conscience when it comes to promises. As a staunch Howard supporter you really have no moral position to lecture anyone on the virtue of keeping promises. You are effectively on side with the likes of those involved in the Lindsay Flyer affair. The Liberal legacy stinks big time, and as time unfolds it is only going to get worse. I feel sorry for you poor empty souls...

  • That's just your opinion. Plenty of ppl/political commentators saying that Howard was Australia's greatest PM since Menzies. No ones ever said that about Keating. And btw, I personally have not lost anything by this election result. I'm just another voter like you expressing their views, but now like you, and all other Australians, I have to live with the consequences of Labor in power, be they good or bad.

  • Garbage. The overwhelming consensus among commentators, most notably among his own party, is that Howard stayed for far too long. In regards to Keating, well your ranting comments are simply nonsense. Howard was a great politician and leader of the Liberal party, but he was not a great leader of Australia...he was a divisive one - and you know it - you're just not prepeared to acknowledge it...

  • I never said anything about Howard staying too long or not. And despite your denials, it is being said that Howard was the greatest PM since menzies.

  • Yes, it is indeed being said that Howard is the greatest leader since Menzies, but the greatness is all to do, and solely to do with the length of time that he held office as Prime Minister - and time is the big factor here, because he stayed too long, ignored the party interest, and denied the party the opportunity for genrational change...Howard was not a great leader in the same way as say Keating or Whitlam, who were great because of their visonary policy implementation and reform...

  • Rubbish. It's being said because of his achievements in restoring the Australian economy, paying off Labor $96b debt and $10b deficit, reducing unemployment, freeing up the ports from the stanglehold of the MUA, etc, etc,

  • I'll happily put the extent and substance of the Hawke/Keatings Economic Reforms against those of Howard/Costello anyday. You're just ranting again...

  • Tell us about Keating reforms?

  • If you really want to know about the Keating Reforms, and how they stack up against the Howard/Costello reform, then I refer you to read 'Ozonomics' by Andrew Charlton - a leading Australian Economist, Rhodes Scholar, and Doctorate of Oxford University. Read the book - it is all explained there in detail, and better than it is possible to do in these limited comments tables...

  • Shut up and pack

  • And Whitlam was no great leader. He was bringing the country to financial ruin, and he didn't even serve full term anyway. But, as I've said, it's pointless to continue. You're a dyed in the wool Labor supporter who believes that Labor can do no wrong, so you'll never agree with anything that I say, and you'll never have anything positive to say on any of my vids, so Adios!

  • You poor fool. To quote that Whitlam and Keating were good leaders is rubbish. They were the most disliked leaders that we ever had!!

  • Don't pity me - I disagree with you on these points. Howard will stink worse than both combined once time allows for the surgical disection of his ridiculous legacy - beginning with Workchoices, as Gillard has pledged to release information clarifying the effects it had on working Australians.

  • I would find it very hard to believe her!!

  • Why? She has pledged to release official data. Are you going to dispute official information? Good luck with that one.

  • It is not my opinion to state that as a Liberal supporter, you stand by the Lindsay affair. Plenty of people were abhored by what happened, and took a moral stand and said no to voting for race-based politics...you on the other hand said "that's fine, I'm cool with that", and voted Liberal anyway. My conscience is clear. My opinion is grounded in the facts and events that occurred. What values do you live by?? Do unto others?

  • I've never said anything about the Lindsay affair. And what one party member does is irrelevant to the overal picture. Grasby was a mafia stooge, but that hasn't stopped you voting Labor. In any case it's pointless discussing further. The election is over.

  • I know you didn't say anything about it - look, if a morality argument is what you want, then bring it on - I've got sh#tloads of material at my disposal...

  • To say that by voting liberal one supports the Lindsay affair is incredibly disingenuous. By voting Liberal one supports Liberal policy, not rogue elements that are rejected by the party whole. On the point of Workchoices and Gillard's report on its effects (slipped into obscurity though it has), I was talking to a small business owner last week and he told me that under Gillards new system not only does it cost more for him to run his business but his employees earn less.

  • History tells us that unlike Howard, the Honourable Paul Keating was able to win a 5th election for the ALP in 1993 with a 5.5% swing to Labor, after a decade in office! This is not my opinion, nor is it some bloated hyperbole, it is what happened, it is called history!

  • And he was soundly rejected by the electorate in 1996. That's also history.

  • ...and Howard was soundly defeated at this election - and he lost his seat!!! That is history, and so is our conversation...

  • ...or Kevin Rudd....F*ck i hate his stupid smirk...

  • I Love it ;)

  • I was just watching parliament today and thinking of Peter Costello's words on this video. It came back to me short and sharp about promises of lower groceries, petrol, interest rates. Promises of computers for ALL students and the education revolution (see the laughable 11 page pre-election plan) to just name a couple of things. This video refreshes my memory alright.
