Robinson was one of those guys who had this mythical reputation as a guy to avoid. He hammered Garry Howatt in the 70s and gave it to Schultz (an overrated fight truly); had an uneventful win over 3rd tier-guy Mike Milbury; whipped Ted Irvine, who was tough, but never a great fighter, and......what else. Louis Sleigher was never a great fighter.

I have no doubt that Robinson could handle himself, but he really fought so infrequently that I don't get this reputation of "Don't Go Near Him".

According to Ken Dryden in his book "The Game", Larry received a black eye from Dave Hutchinson. So I'm sure he did lose that fight. But that's not to take anything away from his dominance in all aspects of the game, including fighting. He was a very dominant fighter. Robinson may have also had an old score to settle with Sleigher. In the brawl between the Habs and Nordiques in the 1984 playoffs, Sleigher had thrown a sucker punch that KO'd Montreal's Jean Hamel and ended his career. The referee was between them to break up the fight, and Sleigher cold-cocked Hamel anyway. For that, any beating Sleigher suffered was well deserved in my book. This hit on Roy was also quite dirty.
