nice vid bro may be you can help me out i have a jbl gto601.1 amp but i do not have the remote bass knob i found one on ebay for 20 bucks i dont know what brand is it it does not say, but the connector looks the same,it looks like a phone jack. do you think is going to work or should i get one specially for jbl they are just hard to find
Great job man looks nice, thought I might add 1 suggestion though... Run your signal wire on the other side of the vehicle, I guess if you run it on the same side as the power cable it creates electronic interference.... anyway nice vid
funny coz the panel and everything is the same as in my toyota highlander. i actually used that space for putting a pack of cigarettes lol it sits perfectly in there. i mounted the knob under the steering wheel column
all a bass nob dus is change the voltage going down the line and buy doing this it will change you levels and can couse clipping and damage your amp and sub.
if that dash is the same as the es 300 then u could have just popped out the coin thing by pulling it up and out, and as for the wire, you could have run it behind it without taking anything apart. ive done something similar to my 2002 es300
@31391southernguy because some people arnt lazy punk ass bitches and they like to do stuff themselves. at my house, we can easily afford to have brakes done and oil changed, but we choose to do it ourselves. its that simple. id prefer not having somebody else work on my car if i can do the work myself.
please don't take this wrong man, I love bass just as much as the next guy ( I have 2 15 inch L7's in my truck ) but what made you want to put bass in such a beautiful, luxury car like this? I how they have fantastic sound systems in them stock.
I do like how you said " if you want it done right, do it yourself"... I've gone about doing that multiple times myself.
dude you aint crazy you just want to make it your own thing and actually do the work and its just that no one else has the balls to pull a Lexus apart haaha
@saabkyle04 trust me ive installed audio for 2 years now and tore a Lexus apart a 2 day job turned into a week hahaha i will never touch another one ever again
@dirtmaster i know toyota is lexus, im not that much of a dumbass, im just saying in my opinion, lexus has better looking model cars than toyota does in the states, otherwise their both just toyota basically
nice, i like the lexus is 250. the 2008. my cuzins got one and shes gettin a system, so i doubt ur the "only 1" whos crazy enough to put a bass controll in an 07 lexus..i know lots of people who do this kind of stuf to 07's 08's and 09's.. like i said ur not the only 1. matter of fact, im lookin into a 2009 tahoe and imma do this kinda stuff to it. lol and thats true. if u want sumthen done, u gotta go out there and do it urself.. agreed,.
Well when I referred to that I meant specifically ES350 owners because most often usually people that buy the car are of the "older generation" haha. I know I'm not the only one to do this before, thanks man!
haha dude hope i didnt seem like an ass or anything, i was just sayin. but ya i get what u mean.. i have a system in my 90 blazer. but i wish i gad a bass controll knob. i wanna put a system in my 08 suburban. its an ltz with the bose system. its got built in subwoofer in the center console..
Nah man I gotcha haha, I didn't think that at all! You should definitely invest in one, they're real convenient, just get one specific for your amp. Dang, that bose system probably sounds good enough to start out, I love bose stereos, they pack a punch.
haha yeah man sounds pretty good. i put in a few bass songs by dj fury. ma suburban bumps pretty good. but i want more bass haha.. imma invest for a complete new speaker system for my blazer. and an amp for ma suburban. and a few more subs for my suburban, my ltz has the tv the navi system and power everything. its hella nice. i kinda wanna take the feature off the nav system to where i can drive and have a video goin on at the same time.
It was my "first car" that I drove when I had my learners permit, thank man, no I'm keeping that all stock. One of my fantasies would be to but a little exhaust system so bring out some slight modest sound because I love the sound of the engine, but it'll never happen haha
oh haha, well, I love saabs ey, got a 9-5 and Im thinking of putting 150hp extra into it with new 3.5inch tail pipe, ooo gotta love it :) personally...I would mod the lexxy. (but again there good as stock too, (saab and lexus)
Sweet. Nice to see that people actually work on their own cars rather than being lazy and taking to a mechanic for something they could do themselves. 5* Kyle :)
yeah it wasn't hard after I figured out how to do it, there's no instructions out there to look out as far as I know so it was all guesswork which was a little nerve racking
Very clean install. i love doing this kind of stuff myself. i remember when i got my civic a few years ago i said "i was leaving it stock" a month later i replaced the entire audio system.
if u want something done right get out and do it urself is not quite the right advice kyle coz some people aint gonna know what they're doing. anyways, good vid bro, success
wow kyle you got guts doing that on a lexus those cars aint cheap and to mess one up oh i shiver at the thought of how much those parts cost if you break em lol btw good tip for working around airbags always disconnect the battery shuts off power and the airbags wont deploy by accident yet another expensive part lol
Yeah but it turned out awesome, yeah if I was taking parts like that out then I would, I never actually removed all of that haha. If I couldn't access it from where I was I was going to quit, it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought, I made SURE not to break anything Lol
yo man, make sure you get your car checked out for that whole Toyota/Lexus floor mat recall. sorry if it's old news to you, but I already had a two relatives lose their Camrys and I don't want it happening to you haha.
Thanks dude, I checked into it and I believe it just is not securing the mats properly, I've never had a problem in 2 years! I also got the all weather mats in mine and took the carpet ones out. Mine are secured firmly :)
yeah man, i know how you feel. its always gut wrenching when you start tearing apart your own car, especially when your basically making everything up as you go.
Oh I know!!! I feel a lot better now that I know how those panels are attached and what not, but because of the kind of car there is NO info out there on how to do it :/ I wanna do a dynamat project in the back but that's another project for another day haha
i thought bass knobs came with the subs. anyway I'm installing a knob on a 2002 Silverado for a guy and he provided the knob and it was an easy installation. he wanted it (if you're fimiliar with that style of dashboard) where the passenger airbag key switch was and it was real easy to wire through the dash. all you had to do was yank on the bezel that covers the radio and gauges and it came off. (wow, quality engineering for ya lol) but this looks way more complex.
It depends on the kind you buy I guess, I would think they would too but I had to buy mine separate at least so I can control it up front. I did always wonder how you pulled the dash off those gm models! I wonder if that's the same way for some cars too, I was maybe going to try and install a new radio in that 1999 Chevy Lumina at the dealership. This was so much more worrysome because it's like made so people won't do stuff like this haha, no instructions out there whatsoever haha!
yeah it's very simple. that's why i LOVE that generation. it's so easy to take apart. the two passenger vents pry out like they weren't there. i am thinking about buying one of those generations. it's so easy to take off the dash and paint, replace and customize it's unbelievable. i managed to get the deck out of this guy's truck just to see how easy it was by squeezing two clips on the side. easy to steal but easy to customize. i dunno about the lumina. I'll look into it for you.
you should try just taking off the dash bezel on the 2002 Suburban and video it. just start in the lower left corner and firmly pull out. don't worry, it's very hard to break.
Yeah I don't think I'm going to try it for the heck of it haha, but that's great, I didn't know they were so versatile in that respect, I'm definitely going to check it out next time I am home.
great video man, and clean install. i dont know anybody that would do this to a lexus. to tell u the truth if i had one i wouldnt do it lol.
