To fully fulfill his goal, the support has to let the carry farm the creeps while he, to compensate his lack of income, buys "gold per five" items that give additional gold income per 5 seconds. Heart of gold is one of those "gold per five" items. During early game, the ranged AD carry's job is to farm as much as possible to carry
