I just came across this video after looking for Dragonball Evolution reviews. I never watched the movie but I already knew it was going to be shit before it even hit theaters. There are many things that look wrong from the movie poster alone. I hate it when Hollywood gets something that is popular and just want to make money off it without even knowing anything about the project. This is 2012 and i'm still mad about it haha.

But back to Evolution: Some people don't believe it that it is possible to put on 1 movie. Toei Animation did 2 DB movies which where 1-2 hours special from Goku meeting Bulma 'till beating the Red Ribbon army. I can't believe how they ruined my childhood. 1 of the best animes of all time which inspired many other animes those are still ongoing.
I went to Nom-Con this year and Kyle Hebert did a Dragonball Evolution Roast. And yes, Dragonball Evolution is the WORST film ever made. I'd so much rather see The Last Airbender than see this movie.

@gouki02 its goood to see someone who also gets it. i too followed the journey to the west mythology to the point of obsession. read several versions , translations, manga, comics, animes, movies, and man its a great way to live . i too use to train constantly in martial arts, the monkey king and bruce lee was a great inspiration in my life.

all that was rumor that they started back in like 2001 when they had nothing but rumors of movies by fans trying to start things on the net trying to make more rumors.the truth is they will not make another movie for a very long time fox has desided to cancel and scrap it all to be honest i don't think there will be another db movie of anykind. jet li would never do it he already played goku once he's not stupid to do a bad movie to ruin his career you have to really think about it.
I was really expecting this movie to cover the proper martial arts tournament, where Goku ends up beating Piccolo Jnr. and lets him leave, since he wasn't going to be a kid.
But yes they didn't even get close to any sort of dragon ball plot. They made their own EXTREMELY pathetic story and put dragonballs, a dragon, some very minor references to dragonball and added the title with "Dragonball" in it.

I agree with you krillin does matter but as far as movies though it not really a big issue if they didn't include him at first but they screwed that! I did however feel as writing a version that krillin and goku needed a strong brother feeling so i included it big time...as well as keep alot of suttle reference to things like the turtle and roshi's perverseness,but I dunno goku is sorta debatable the character design of the time I'd say no because of the obvious look of the character at the time

I would NOT pay money to see this, and i'm glad my dad pointed that out to me too after he watched it. I have to say though, they DID do a pretty good job on Roshi, i lolled a bit when bulma finds the dirty mag in his chest. Still a perv as always.
The end theme by Ayumi Hamasaki was pretty good.. The rest of the music by Brian Tyler ... was alright... Though i liked Bruce Faulconer's work from DBZ alot better.

I think an American Studio IS capable of doing this right. The only thing that I think should happen is Toriyama needs to be the head writer, and the crew and cast needs to have respect for the series. Heck, with the right resources, I could do it.
Yeah, I've seen it, and some of it's pretty cool. But movies are hit or miss, no matter where they come from, and that's a fact. They tried it once before over there and it didn't turn out so great ether, though to be honest, even THAT movie stayed closer to who the characters really were and the essence of Dragon Ball than this one did.
For now, I'm just doing my part to get a relaunch, start it fresh, or get another studio to do it right, and I encourage others to do the same.

all that was rumor that they started back in like 2001 when they had nothing but rumors of movies by fans trying to start things on the net trying to make more rumors.the truth is they will not make another movie for a very long time fox has desided to cancel and scrap it all to be honest i don't think there will be another db movie of anykind. jet li would never do it he already played goku once he's not stupid to do a bad movie to ruin his career you have to really think about it.

I was really expecting this movie to cover the proper martial arts tournament, where Goku ends up beating Piccolo Jnr. and lets him leave, since he wasn't going to be a kid.
But yes they didn't even get close to any sort of dragon ball plot. They made their own EXTREMELY pathetic story and put dragonballs, a dragon, some very minor references to dragonball and added the title with "Dragonball" in it.

They made crap out of something that could have been a pretty darn good movie. Certain cast members were ok, as far as goku, or justin chatwin, horrible just horrible. kind of like how they casted toby for spider man why do they have to be the skinnest guys with a little girl attitude? geez Im just really disappointed.

He had no real design to him. He was lame. The fight scenes were just bad. Sorry. If you have a story you need to get in touch with actual producers and get a big budget and yes KRILLIEN MATTERS! Seriously!

I agree with you krillin does matter but as far as movies though it not really a big issue if they didn't include him at first but they screwed that! I did however feel as writing a version that krillin and goku needed a strong brother feeling so i included it big time...as well as keep alot of suttle reference to things like the turtle and roshi's perverseness,but I dunno goku is sorta debatable the character design of the time I'd say no because of the obvious look of the character at the time

I would NOT pay money to see this, and i'm glad my dad pointed that out to me too after he watched it. I have to say though, they DID do a pretty good job on Roshi, i lolled a bit when bulma finds the dirty mag in his chest. Still a perv as always.
The end theme by Ayumi Hamasaki was pretty good.. The rest of the music by Brian Tyler ... was alright... Though i liked Bruce Faulconer's work from DBZ alot better.
Other than that.... yeah. kinda a lame movie, and it shoulda had ALOT more

Has anyone seen Resident Evil: Degeneration? That was a good movie which somehow kept to the plot of the game series. It was all CG, which was a good thing because I think they would fuck up the actors.

I think an American Studio IS capable of doing this right. The only thing that I think should happen is Toriyama needs to be the head writer, and the crew and cast needs to have respect for the series. Heck, with the right resources, I could do it.

Yeah, I've seen it, and some of it's pretty cool. But movies are hit or miss, no matter where they come from, and that's a fact. They tried it once before over there and it didn't turn out so great ether, though to be honest, even THAT movie stayed closer to who the characters really were and the essence of Dragon Ball than this one did.
For now, I'm just doing my part to get a relaunch, start it fresh, or get another studio to do it right, and I encourage others to do the same.

Ah, what I'd want to see... hmmm... Well, I know this doesn't bug you as much as me, but I WOULD like to see Krillin show up. I mean, c'mon, the dude was Goku's best friend, they grew up together. And while I know the story is mainly about Goku, I'd LIKE to see the humans getting a fair piece of action and not just be living shock absorbers, so to speak. (The one thing I didn't like about the anime filler). I mean, they all were great warriors, and they deserve some cred, dude.

That damn Tom Rothman, he stole a childhood gem based on Journey To The West & committed rape. If I remember well the asians made a Dragonball movie around the mid 90s I believe & it kind of stayed true to the source. Makes me glad I only watch the older fox movies before Rothman took it prisoner. He needs to be fired & replaced. It's people like him that is giving Hollywood a bad name now. Watch Forbidden Kingdom although it was kinda rushed JET LI plays as Son Goku. Maybe just maybe if Paramount did this, that 100 million dollar budget might've put it into good use. Yeah Chow Yun Fat is a great actor but he sold his soul to not only this movie but most of his Hollywood debut his Asian films were so much better & Chow isn't a real martial artist.
