all that stuff is so racist! like europe should be separate from asia because the elitist europeans didnt want to be associated with the asians? and the white north americans didn't want to be on the same continent as south americans... wow how screwed up can ya get? unschooling rocks.
You know, the world is much more inspiring with people like you, who just think by their own!! Thanks for your video and the thoughts about continents (propably Europe is accepted as continent because it was the long time main power... otherwise it's not logical, isn't it)
That was very interesting and educational. If I have children, I hope homeschooling is a viable option at the time.
By the way, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is the only candidate that addresses the Department of Education, and has stated that he will dissolve it (along with the Federal Reserve, IRS, all the other Departments, FEMA, etc), which will undoubtedly improve the educational system in the U.S. Very interesting candidate, with a lot of momentum!
Ron Paul actually said that?? Yikes! I agree with him, but that sure slims down his chances of becoming president by a huge margin! What chance does the guy have???
He has a huge grassroots following. He raised $6 million online in one day (an all time record) and has raised more than any other candidate (all from individual donors) this quarter. He is the underdog but that doesn't mean he can't win.
I think it's Americas schooling that is wrong. It's like understanding the technology of Egypt and then saying Greece was the first civilization. Ignorance about definitions, and many other things, is common in the United States. This is why I am making videos, writing, and giving lectures. I believe people need to help their children learn, to ensure a better world
My 7 year old has always been an independant learner. She taught herself how to read at age 4. She taught herself basic addition and subtraction, and when she was only 6 (!) taught herself how to multiply large numbers. I have always simply found it most helpful to leave her to her own learning...my interference usually slows down her extremely quick thinking process. She is an incredible and very quick self-learner. Putting that child in school would dumb her down real fast.
I agree. School is actually meant to dumb down the genius. It teaches kids two things, how to sit, and obey. There is proof of producing people with lowers IQs and fewer with higher IQs by the use of chemicals in food that strongly disturb thinking, especially aspartame, msg, red40, yellow5&6, ect. You have great children that are very lucky to have a caring parent like yourself.
I have 4 kids; one in particular has what most would consider an "odd" obsession. She absolutely LOVES Komodo Dragons! She is only 8 years old and knows just about all there is about them. She also loves dinosaurs and mythical dragons, and through her passion she has discovered the world of paleantology, zoology, and a zillion other things...all because she likes huge lizards!
Good message, I have been attempting the un/home-schooling approach for the past year now (regular homeschool for 3 years prior). We have all enjoyed it, the kids (and I!) have learned lots, however my hubby still doesn't see quite enough structure, so we are doing a little re-organizing this year to combine the best of both worlds!
Remember, no child learns for eight hours a day. Alot of what is said in schools is not only lies, it actually retards the natural learning process. John Holt's website is something that would bring more knowledge for anyone who's not sure :)
You're absolutely right! Learning happens 24/7, and I see it ALL the time. I am SO glad my kids do not go to schools, nor do we intend to put them in school. Our kids are the initiators and learners, hubby and I are the guiders. I have read John Holt; much of it I agree with, other ideas I do not. We enjoy "free" education right here at home, and the kids learn a LOT more than their public school peers.
Yes, I also believe that children have much more to teach us than we have to teach them. Albert Einstein made a good quote when he stated, "The pioneers of a warless world are the young men and women who refuse military service", and you have to think in order not to join. Glad to hear someone else who knows that learning takes place outside of the classroom and in the real world :)
Thanks for your reply - my daughter has a home schooling website and her daughter (my grandaughter) is 21 months old now and she is determined to home school. I have had 5 children and I have seen and 'felt' them change for the worse....Had I KNOWN what I known now, I would have gone the home schooling way. We are always trying to find more video's to add to our website and am GLAD to have found you.
My daughter has also left a message on your email address.

If one removes the Panama Canal, making America one continent, then is the Suez Canal the artificial boundary between Asia and Africa?

Institutionalized schooling makes institutionalized people. We are unschoolers, too.

the definition is just plain stupid. in some other cultures, there are 5 continents, it's just here in america that it's 7.
