  • awesome cover, but not enough snare, if you listen closely he keeps it going for most of the song. great cover though

  • fucinwikard

  • Fucking incredible.

  • oh yes!!!

  • Beau, you amaze me everyday, you are an inspiration.

  • Great job Man! I'd like listen something of your music! do you have a band?

  • omg...

  • This is awesome and the drum tuning is incredible, but doesn't he do that train shuffle throughout the entire song? It's supposedly the same beat to Keep A Knockin'

  • timing is perfect!!!

  • couple a hitches, but perty good, nonetheless

  • That little drum solo in the end of rock and roll blew my mind. Mostly because of the cact that you were SPOT ON! Really nice work.

  • .. Bonzo will be proud!

  • :O

    I am not worthy!

Your timing and the solo at the end of Rock and Roll was spot on! Bonzo would be proud

  • Ghost notes? Still good though.

  • OMFG guys jus stop its not even funny. its jus annoyin to beau cause he has 2 listen to all this shit. jus talk between messages. nd btw, beau this is one of my favorite vids on youtube

  • I know man. Sorry I do realize this. I just like proving idiots wrong even though arguing online is pointless. lol

  • who needs drum trans. plus dude its beau.

    bad footwork. you are funny.

  • tstom81993 ,here goes another Idiot running there mouth, you must be one of these begginer drummers who wants Attention because you have nothing else better to do, just like before go to your bed room and practice your Basic Rudiments little boy and then go take lessons.

  • haha. Your opinion is not valid unless I see something from you or until you actually know what you are talking about. Then maybe Grandpa. Maybe. Watch my vids and then give me your views.

  • dude you suck. i just looked at ur vids. you don't even kno what ur talkin about, because this guy is really good. he may not have the ghost note in there, or the bass drum quite right, but if you look at his other vids, he's a great drummer. so stfu dumb ass

  • oops lol. that comment was directed at tstorm81993 lol

  • ok dude. what did I say again?

cuz Beau is my youtube drumming idol. I dont talk shit about him. He doesnt make mistakes.

  • Thanks dude , and I can relate to what your saying Although, some people on this sight want to bring it to the next level and start shit from something I wrote over a month ago, Apparently they think I criticized you. I gave my oppinnion and it's Obvious you would have responded if I did, So Bottom line is you have a Great Attitude and Thank You for Being so Gracious in this Matter, Keep doing what your doing and you'll go a long way, Peace out from Tim.

  • No problem. Don't worry about drugfreemikey. He's someone I know in person, and he was just sticking up for me. He is a really good guy, though, trust me. I have a problem responding to questions and people on youtube because I get a lot of (the same) questions. I saw what was going on here so I just wanted to clear it up. You should check out my solo vids and tell me what you think because it's way different than the zeppelin stuff. thanks!

  • First off, this isn't a challenge. Will you upload somethin please ? Beau's like a freakin GOD to most of budding drummers, so to hear anyone say they even come close to his standard has got me pretty damn curious ! Also, you lucky bastard - you were around for the 70's !

  • I would be paying attention to his footwork in this song, but I don't reconize any constant pattern, so I don't have time to follow it part for part on the bass pedal. I'm not trying to replicate an exact copy of boham's drumming, i'm just playing the song as I hear it, also with some improv. If I was in a tribute band, my views would be different, but I don't make a living playing this song for people. So I will just try to play these the best I can. I don't follow drum trans. thanks for info.

  • 19sabian64, beau does an excellent job on all his videos, and he doesnt need criticism from YOU. This is a really old video anyway, he is way better now. So dont be so quick to critique when honestly, i doubt you could do a better job. His footwork is just fine.

  • Hey Monkeyboy, Drugboy or what the Hell your name is, Do me a favor and Shut the F-ck up. This guy can respond to me himself.Furthermore,I could care F-ckin less who's better. Personally I'll take both of you to school. Theres always some Ass Hole out there such as yourself who want's to start some shit, Grow the fuck up and quit going thru Vids to start a bunch of shit Drunk Free Dick Head.

  • haaaaaaaaaa hahahaha ok old man, just keep dreaming. And jeez, could you cuss a little bit more? Just because you are about to kick the bucket doesnt mean that you have to take it out on the rest of us!

  • Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla. Oh,Did I say Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla.Thank You Very Little and By the way, I don't need to dream. It's just Plain old Reality Son, Now go to your studies and Practice your Rudiments.

  • i will! Thank you father time!

  • BAHAHA.

    "grow up" lmao

and then you pummel him in cussing.

    haha

  • dude thats amazing i dont think anyone else could do a better job

  • u got the zht china right?....do u know if the other cymbals sound good(crash, ride, hats)?

btw i want ur snare man!!!!

    badass ccover also :P 5/5

  • looks like a wuhan to me

  • naw it says there on his page that he's got a zht....i just wanted to know if the other cymbals that come in a cymbals pack sound good

  • im pretty sure thats a wuhan, zht dont have the bells like that, wuhans do. i think the china he uses in his more recent vids is the zht hes talking about.

  • probably....

  • yeah, this appears to be a wuhan. I have a ZHT china now. I've been using the ZHT since May 2007.

  • wut do u rate it, from 1-10?

  • i rate it a 10 for it's thrashy sound, but they crack almost too easily. I had them while I was in a band, so that's why I think they crack easily. I don't play as hard when I practice or just jam by myself, so my cymbals are lasting a lot longer.

  • sweet cause im thinking of getting a zht cymbal pack just to start off, im assuming that the china resembles the rest of the cymbals, then move up to a customs and z customs

  • i play the bass wit my left foot...I swear...im just more used to it...i love u...lol, but good job once agian dude...

  • Fun to watch, thanks...

I'd love to see a good vid of the bass player pumping this song.

  • Great Playing, except on 'Rock & Roll' Bonham plays straight ghost notes with the left hand on the snare the whole song.

  • i know about the ghost notes now... this video is over a year and half old ya know. lol.

  • I love misty mountain hop

  • The Intro needs no dynamic accents on the right hand!

  • im pretty sure there is

  • verrrry good. but your bass pattern is pretty off.

  • ha, i always get that.

  • That was the best cover ive seen of both of those songs. the only problem i had with it is that there were a couple of bass drum notes that you missed, but besides that it was awesome. i am in the the process of getting Rock and Roll perfected myself and i just need to work on the big fills in misty mountain hop and i'll probably post a vid of me. but thanks for posting this vid up because it should help me with some of the things in the song

  • thanks man. Yeah, this video is over a year old. i posted this in august of 2006. there are some things I want to redo, but i just think it's more than I should do. i should just worry about posting new videos, instead of trying to remake a video. i only did that once with "good times, bad times" and that's because I was getting a lot of shit from people saying i was using a double pedal. so i posted it with a camera on the bass drum to set it straight.

  • yea i saw that good times bad times redo and i think its awesome. ive almost got it all down besides some of the fills and that the whole 1 foot pedal part that frustrates everyone.

  • Very Cooly....do u do Fool in the Rain?

  • Awesome job man! You're the first person I've seen get the intro right and you also helped clear up some confusion as to whether bonham was playing 8ths or 16ths on the hats in the intro! Thanks!

  • Truly Amazing, I Could watch your videos over and over.

They always seem to be something new to me in each video.

I would post my video of this cover but its so bad compared to you.

  • post em dude, just as long as ur having fun playing, u shouldnt care wut anyone else thinks

  • oh my god!!! you are the first drummer i've seen cover Rock and Roll who actually gets the intro to the song correct. Bonham indeed plays all the intro notes on both the high hat and the snare. thank you so much for making a fellow drummer and Bonzo fan proud.

  • yup, ghost notes and accents. I've recently found out (thanks to other youtubers), that there are ghost notes being played throughout the whole song, so the intro may be right, but i'm not playing the rest of the song how Bonham did. This video is in need of being remade. thanks though! i hope the ending solo sounded right as well.

  • "John" sorry typing mistake

  • I would like to know the size of each drum on the kit and also the size of the cymbals, i noticed it is a Pearl kit

PD: By the way your fucking awsome y bet Jhon Henry Bonham,(Rest in Peace) would be proud

  • misty mountain hop is so catchy i don't know why lol its my favorite led zeppelin song. good playing

  • dude i love the groove but you palyed it wrong. i know your not bomham(praise him!) but he played ghosted eights with his left on the snare exept on 2 and 4 though out the entire song. comment back man!

  • oh yes, I have heard of this, not at the time I taped this though. I'm thinking I should redo it the right way.

  • hell yeah man that would be sweet. ive been playing that song for like 3 months and i just added the left hand. its tough

  • Poetry in motion as always, Beau. I've always wanted to hear you play that fill at 7:38 on "Misty Mountain Hop"! Your performance in the last minute of that song reminds us of how utterly, effortlessly swinging Bonham's playing really was.

  • this song is deceptive, its actually very hard to keep up with Bonham on this song. he has both hands going simutaneously the entire song but hes accenting the 2 and 4 on the snare, so its kinda like and accented blast beat... Bonzo is a badass man...

    R.I.P. John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham

    5/31/48 - 9/25/80

    we love you

  • hmm. i never knew that! that's interesting. can you hear it on the recording? becasue I can't.

  • You can kinda hear it on the recording and you can also see him doing it on Zep DVD footage at Knebworth 1979. It was also mentioned this month in the new Modern Drummer Magazine cover story w/ Jason Bonham...either way you still sound great :-)

  • Sorry...my comment was in response to the one from esa291 about Bonham having both hands going on this track...check out the knebworth 1979 footage and you'll see it :-)

  • The fill at the end of Rock and Roll is flawless i cant believe u can pull it off..nice!!

  • I love misty mountain hop

  • nice playing!

    and awesome kit

  • what happened there at 0:51 ??? sounded like double kick...maybe that's just me...

  • he could have just playe dboulbes on the bass i do that a lot

  • actually, I studdered. there is not double bass there. I was trying to play it the way it's played on the album, but usually in my own way, i do a quick double roll there so i was trying not to do it and I ended up missing it.

  • ya thts wat im trien to do more no cuz lately ive been usin my double bass

  • Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hi, I love your videos, please play ''A quick one'' by the who

  • PLEASE play Stairway To Heaven. Thats such a great song!

  • he's gonna have to just sit there for a few min. you know that right?

  • yea or he could just fast forward to the part with the drums.

  • i think it would be better to start the song around 4:00 because the drums come in at 4:20

  • Bo, please do some classic Black Sabbathe me and Paul always watcch yore stuff while afteer a few whisakeys please do some Black Sabbath.....

  • i never thought about doing black sabbath. and i even know 2 songs! haha. whos paul?

  • He's a pal , Paul Mc..........We usually end those alchol fueled nights on youtube watching you, until it all gets too hazy.....thankz for posting your vids

  • i think bonzo played 8th notes on the snare throughout the song with accents here and there. i may be wrong.

  • can you explain how to do the end part to rock and roll please?!?!?!

  • loom it up on a drum tab website

  • Cool video Beau. I was taught to play with eighth note ghost notes after each two and four on the snare. Next time, try playing along with "How the West Was Won". Live versions are alot of fun to play with. Great drumming by the way!

  • Nice job man. These are two of my favorite Zeppelin tunes to play on the kit as well.

  • Awesome!

  • Damn son, you can jam.

  • its a pearl free floating maple snare 340.00 on musicians friend or guitar center

  • Hey sounds great! What kind of heads do you use on the batter and resonant side of your snare? And how do you tune your snare?

  • im no expert, but i think it has to do partly with the TYPE of snare he's got. i dont remember the name of that type of snare but i played one of that TYPE at a drum store and it sounded just like this guys dose and it just had ReMO skins on it

  • For all you viewers that are regular fans of Beau Ferchaud's videos...I have created a Beau Ferchaud appreciation an fan base Face Book Site that is a place for all of his fans to come and hang out.

Just Type Beau Ferchaud inot the facebook search bar and you will get the group.

  • why does misty mountain hop kick so much ass? And awesome drumming, i love all your zeppelin covers.

  • you are pretty much a god

  • DAMN

  • Wow, what retards with all this talk about double bass. I think anyone who says they have found something wrong with this video are jealous because they can't play it with suck precision.

  • Damn straight man. I can play on one foot about at this range. I can't go how fast beau can go... he's WAY too fast.

  • Great drumming Beau !

How do you do your ghosts notes on the intro ?

Beacause I think your left stick is very high.

  • not sure, it's just the technique i use. the stick does look high, but i'm not hitting it that hard. i'm just kinda letting it bounce and then I accent the other notes for the intro.

  • Toca bakan la bateria, le sale igual que a John Bonham, baterista de Led Zeppelin, se nota que practica a diario, muy buen baterista.

  • I want to know how you tune your snare. I have a 6-1/2by 14 Ludwig and want to get a Bonham sound out of it but i can't tune at all. I notinced yours isnt quite that large but ,still. Help!!

  • Bonham sound? Get a steel shell. That's what he used most of the time.

  • ehhhhhhhhh.. i like my free floating maple. plus, i don't do led zeppelin covers for a living, so i see no point to it... plus i don't like to mix brand names. i'm a picky son of a bitch, lol!

  • Lol I'm the same way... but I have a steel yamaha which sounds good, so I use it with the rest of my ludwig kit.

  • the bass drum you do sounds a bit sloppy

  • yeah, i don't really understand what the bass drum pattern is for rock and roll.

  • well he playes it so many diffrent ways live...and he has such a heavy foot that he can do any pattern he wants...but i have sme Led Zeppelin Drum tracks from stuff from "In Through The Out Door" if you want them...?

  • If you know how to read music, and have an email address, I can send you the music, I have a book with this song.

  • the stick mostly only bounces up if you let it. all depends on your grip. great video.

  • wow that is wierd

  • very good playing.

intresting snare drum playing. i mean that the stick doesn't bounce up after kick..

  • is that bad or good? or is the stick suppose to?

  • i dont get it

  • Eres un máquina y QUE VIVA LED ZEPPELIN!

  • thats awesome dude u helped me out on the solo alot

  • Hey NIce Job dude!!! Shit dude Is this guy your favorite drummer? dude John bonham is a God To me. I No double bass dude Fucking awsome. I can't use double bass its super hard when your usto using your hi hat alot. Dame man I'll show you some vids of me one day. God Fucking job. Remember dude. Play with heart man!

  • hey that is very good, everyone who says your yousing double bass are gay but i think you are just boin fast one pedal beats! but hope your not using double kicks , cuz john never did!!!!!!!

  • hey thanks! yeah, of course not! I won't use double bass to replicate led zeppelin songs. that's cheating. You see that my left leg doesn't move except to use the hi hat.

  • Good. Too much double bass tho.

  • i didn't use double bass.

  • Your bass drum is way off.

  • i know, it's hard for me to determine the bass drum pattern in that song.

  • Other than that you do a good job. It seems like you are rushing the bass drum a bit and adding a ghost note. Bonham always played slightly behind the beat. Seeing your other videos you r pretty good.

  • lol

  • oh okay. i thought you were talking about your black pearl kit

  • no, that's a masters series. and it's not black, it's green mist. it just looks black in the videos. needs better lighting to see it.

  • that's cool. i have a red/black ludwig accent combo with a zilijan crash cymbal, a planet Z crash ride, [planet Z is a product of zilijan] I have planet Z hi hat cybals and a mapex hi hat top that i use as a splash

  • im sorry to hear about the cymbals you have :(

  • why. you like sabein or wuhan?

  • Zildjian... just not planet Z's. I like the cast cymbals like A series, Z Custom Series, K's, and A Customs. They all sound amazing. K's are just too expensive

  • oh yeah. i don't love my planet Z's i might get a zilijan ride

  • oh yeah. i also might get zildjian hi hat cybals. i also want a steel snare

  • i have asked you many times. what company is your white kit? i know you have a pearl kit and i think it's an export. is it? and again, the company of your white drum kit please?

  • it's a pearl forum kit, you can tell by the spacing of the lugs. export has more lugs.

  • okay. and this drum kit iS???

  • my snare just gets a clearin the middle, but no dents

  • what snare do you use i use emporer x all my other ones my snare head went from white to clear. any suggestions

  • my snare is a pearl free floating maple snare drum. 5x14. I use an Emporer X on the top and an Emporer Snare on the bottom. In the middle I have bits of coating that has come off... it's normal wear and tear. I need to change the drum head soon. If you are putting dents in your drumheads, they are either too thin, or you are slammin' too hard.

  • omg dude i wish u were in my band

  • muy buena bata, y tokas re bien chabon! saludos desde argentina

  • Big fan of your playing Beau. I mentor my cousin on the drums and use your playing for references. Is it possible for you to play "Fool in the Rain?" Perhaps the most difficult and (in my opinion) the best LZ song. Keep up the good work.

  • yea check out the "Bernard Purdie Drum Shuffle (greatest video ever)" on youtube and thats what it is bonham took the shuffle beat from Bernard Purdie and put it into "Fool In The Rain"

  • Not precisely, it's the 'Fool in the Rain' Shuffle, it comes from the Half Time Shuffle, just like Purdie's and Porcaro's.

Purdie made the half time famous with his personal shuffle, but it had been used years before he had been even born (And damn he's old!, keeps rocking though!).

    Fox.

  • I love all these song you got up. You should try to put up some Rush.

  • haha, if i only knew how to play to them.

  • Hey....Beau Great playing man! If you don't mind explaining...during the outro to "Rock and Roll" is that a RLRLKK triplet pattern between the Snare-Floor Tom and Rack Tom? It's too fast to be certain. Thanks!!

  • yes, that's pretty much it, and then at the very end, i think it goes backwards.. it was kinda complicated to learn when was younger.

  • one thing I will say is that it is a perfect Bonham sound on the snare drum - great stuff

  • Hey, man. Really great playing, but sounds like you're using too much bass on Misty Mountain Hop.

  • play it brother

  • I keep coming back and watching this video. I love the fill at the end of Misty Mountain Hop. Since everyone is making suggestions about what Zep song you should try next, I'll suggest Fool In The Rain. Probably his best drumming if you ask me.

  • What cymbals are you playing on?

  • You play these songs pretty well, but you should try some Zeppelin songs that aren't always on the radio. For instance, Out on the Tiles, For Your Life, Darlene, or We're Gonna Groove. TRY IT UP !

  • i know how to play we're gonna groove. I only choose these songs because people know them.

  • I figured thats why, you should pair a song that people aren't familiar with and one that they are so they are forced to watch it, like you did with The Crunge and The Ocean! but that would be sweet if you put up we're gonna groove. Its one of Bonhams sickest beats. Look into Out on the Tiles, you could lay it down after listening to it a couple of times. PEACE

  • yo man awesome job. 2 questions. did u learn to read music and teach urself zeppelin that way or did u learn by ear? and do have any techniques or suggestions for learning bonzo?

  • It's funny.

You look like a Chewing Gum.

    "T'es mou du gland Gars"

  • Don't mean to be critical in a bad%

  • oh i know. it's cool. 26" is pretty big for a bass drum.

  • sweet, u mastered what phil collins couldnt over days of rehersals, and he still ballsed it up on the day.

i love hyce777's lil story bout bonham and the red light, true bonzo!

Lets have Candy Store Rock, and Wearing and Tearing!! the 2 forgotten greats!

  • hey man ill call u john bonham from now on! u own

  • The one thing I can't tell is if he is as loud as bonham. I was reading a biography on him and it said:"We went to a stage where they have a series of lights that tell you how loud you are, and if it gets to red, the power automatically shuts off. John hit the bass drum once and it went to red immediatly."

  • Don't forget he had a large bass drum which could double the volume and depth. Great story though, mate. And great work there, Beau!

  • I loved your performance. But i do agree monkface. anychance you can post anothe vid with 8th notes?

  • to my ears it sounds like Bonzo is playing more of a straight eighth note feel on the hi hat during misty mountain hop. But sometimes it sounds like he throws it into the 16th. I dunno? It has such a great groove anyway! Try it with the 8th's and see! I'm not trying to tell you how to play or anything really! get back to me on how it sounds!

  • Very interesting set-up, I like it. Reminds me of Buddy's kit, except that there's twice the cymbals.

Btw very nice playing, you don't seem to get tired, I'm impressed.
