This shouldn't be compared to the blockbuster film making these days, we can only blame ourselves that such films are a rarity, with the exception of Scorcese of course, but times change, i can only appreciate that they're still around for me to watch. Beautiful movie, i cry just thinking about it, the characters, the plot, the sorrow of one man's regrets. Thank god he chose to direct this instead of The Godfather.

I rejoice at all the positive things said about the soundtrack/movie. It's majestic, filled with scope and a metaphor for both greed, lust and power; filled with a fire of passion. Leone could only make the structure of a story to do with bootlegging from the very end to the very beginning. It challenges you to think, to wonder, to ponder about the place and time, dream or not, and every single heirloom (including the pocket watch from the beginning) is of importance. Nothing fell flat.

My all time favorite movie. What a shame the studios screwed this movie royal. First they decide to release the short chronological correct version instead the great epic version. Then they don't submit the score in time for consideration for an Oscar, which it would have been a shoe in ("A Passage to India" won).

They say they don't. The other day i was watching taxi driver, and a friend told me, can you put something with guns. Sad thing. everybody likes hyprocritical movies like avatar, when good people save the word. I haven't find one friend who have watched the Wire or the sopranos

I know what you mean, some of my favourite movies are Once Upon a Time in America, Bladerunner, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Pulp fiction, etc. I gave Avatar a go and tried to interpret it as an individual movie, but it was just a more modern Pocahontas in my opinion. Also The Sopranos is my FAV programme :)

This was my late fathers favourite film. and as a small child we watched it together because i know now there was a message in there that he wanted me to get. I just sat here with my sixteen month old son in my arms listening to this tune and he perked up and gave me the biggest smile. i told him that i cant wait till he's old enough and we'll watch it together. and hopefully he'll get the message too.
