Russ wrote the song; Al is singing. I actually looked up Russ because of the song, and to my dismay found out he was an entirely different [though interesting] singer!
@KnightofMotley The song was written by R. Whiting and H. Akst with lyrics by Gus Kahn - Columbo just did a version of it along with Al Bowlly, Margaret Whiting (Richard Whiting's daughter - bit of trivia there!) but yeh - I prefer the sweeter voice of Bowlly :)
@cyclos12 Ah, well pointed, forgot about Holiday's version- what a beautiful and unique voice she has. Ah, the artist's of yesteryear, what a shame I wasn't around to see any of my favourites in concert - apart from Al Martino of whom I have an autograph from when he came across to England!
@tigab15 yeah i know. i just love how they didnt retouch it or anything to get rid of the grainy sound to it...you know how they do that sometimes. this song is from like...1920 isnt it? i love it <3

Great recording, but it is Al Bowlly. Columbo's recording of this is on the flip side of "I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)".

Sounds like a song you'd here in the overlook hotel! 'Here's Johnny!!'

Not to be weird, or... Persnickety, but I think this version is sung by Al Bowlly.
Lovely voice.
Thanks for the upload, too!
