@cartzar Yeah I tought about that as well, but NO car would survive that obviously. But it still is amazing that after all the punishing the car went trough it still works.

@390merc65 Frankly, would you subject your vehicle to this? Unless you're a UAW prick, everyone here, regardless of what they drive, is cheering on that little determinator of a car. I drive a Ford, and have driven Nissans, Hondas, and Toyotas, Toyota still tops the cake. This just proves it.
I own a toyota so I am bias, but it would have been more impressive to have real type situations to try and kill it, like massively exceeding its payload around a track while maxing out its rpm in first gear and compare it to a different make velicle that blow the engine before the toyota. Comparisons we can relate to. How can we know what damage can become of a falling building or flooding it with water, but I do know the fire damaged everything about the truck. It was done then.
The only way to kill a toyota is to send it to jupiter.. The gravity there is thousand times stronger than earth, it would turn into a little ball of metal.
one thing these guys should try with a toyota is like in the toyota add where they drop a 40" container on top of one....that WILL kill it...also will be good to see how flat it squashes to
I had the 1987 1 /2 ton with only the 2.4L 22R gasoline engine and used to drive it through plowed snow drifts that were as high as the roof and 8 feet thick and it was just beautiful fun best machine ever built.
There is only one truck that can match the Hilux for durability. The 79 and older Ford F-100/150/250 with the 300 inline 6. I had a '74 Ford F-100 w/ 3 speed and during Hurricane Katrina it spent not a few hours but days under water. When I returned to my home the truck had been out of the water for 3 days. I towed it to my brother's house a few miles away where I started to try to get it running. Using only marvel mystery oil, WD-40, and replacing all the oil it ran; and still runs to this day
@wolfgangiceclaw P.S. I did have to replace some parts... Being a gasoline engine the water ruined the ignition so I replaced the points, condenser, ignition coil, distributor cap and rotor, and the plugs and wires witch cost me about $75. Plus the oil and Marvel Mystery oil, and WD-40 in all I spent less than $150 to get it running.
@rastamees Ya, i would agree. But that would go for any new car. My mother's side of the family has owned nothing but Toyotas since the late 70's and the top quality that Toyota has been know for stopped in the late 80's to early 90's. My grandmother's '01 Corolla with 105,000 miles has fallen completely apart. Ever plastic piece, from door handles, to visors, to part of the dash have broken. And the front suspension dose not hold up to the abuse that Toyotas of the past did.
There was a 89' Toyota Hilux aboard the car ferry "Estonia" when it sank in 1994. Maybe they should rise the car and start it, I wouldn't be surprised if it started...

Toyota cars contain nuclear radiation from Fukushima nuclear disasters. Plutonium-238, 239 and 240 are dangerous nuclear substances that will take millions of years to break down. The result is that Toyota cars will be tainted by nuclear radiation for at least millions of years and during that time, it will increase your chance of cancer, infertility and sperm damage.
@blacksheepcommanderX You clearly don't know anything about nuclear chemistry. Either go sound educated and learn some nuclear chemistry at least at a bachelor's level or don't even attempt to argue against my comment. Toyota cars that contain high levels of nuclear radiation will increase your incidence of cancer, infertility and sperm damage and that is a fact.
@lrossi888 I really feel sorry for this car, I really do. It is hard to admit that Japanese pickups are stronger than us. The Dodge still sounds better though.
@NukedJapaneseToyota: Dude, please STOP listening to the anti-nuclear bullshit and alarmist nonsense being spewed because of the recent tragedies in Japan-NONE of it is supported by science.
@HFCHSvids Banana's radiation is safe. The radioactive form is K40 which is harmless even in large quantities.
The radiation released from nuclear power plants are much more dangerous. Especially the radiation released from Fukushima, including Plutonium-238, 239 and 240 which will increase the risk of cancer, infertility and sperm damage.
The only way to kill a Toyota is with a silver bullet to the engine just after a ritual that only can be performed every 1000 years and there is a 50% chance it might not work
Sorry, but a VW Jetta would have done as well as this truck. They didn't really do anything amazing to it. The only rough part about riding the roof of the building down to the bottom was the final landing and that amounts to dropping it from 8 feet. The roof materials absorbed the bulk of the impact. IF they really wanted to destroy that vehicle, they could have done it on the very first tree they hit. If it had been moving more than 5mph.
@Dogurasu Possibly one of the dumbest comments I've ever read. It's a pity all those people who died in the twin towers didn't realize that all they had to do was stand on the roof, ride the building down and survive dropping the last eight feet.
The Twin Towers were Sky Scrapers. The building that the Toyota was sitting on was just an average office building. That's the only reason that people like you can actually believe this show because you just don't get it. You can't understand what's really going on. Every thing they do to that truck seems really incredible to you because you just have no clue. None at all.
@Dogurasu Ah ha ha ha. I love cynical know-it-alls who don't know what the hell they're talking about. Please sir, continue to enlighten us. I want to hear more.
@Dogurasu first thing a know-it-all states "im not a know it all" then they go on to tell how the person calling said person a know-it-all is an idiot... like he/she knows the person. but either way... how did the truck just fall 8 feet? was the top of the building not moving until 8 feet? looked like the roof started falling from the top, and not level mind you. sure it may not seem amazing, but know-it-alls dont think there are many things that are amazing it seems.
@Dogurasu Please, even from the way you type and express yourself i can tell you are an immature little idiot and you have no clue about the laws of physics or any notion of engineering. Please shut up and be on your way.
@Dogurasu The roof materials were solid concrete they aren't going to absorb that much force. Plus an object in motion tends to want to stay in motion. So when the roof came to an abrupt halt the toyota would still be trying to fall at free fall speed making for quite an impact
Now lets do this with a Ferrari.
