Very nice tribute Rihanna. I love the Carpenters too and Karen is my favorite female singer off all time. It's such a shame she's no longer with us. I miss her even more now especially when I listen to the radio today and see how far music has plumeted in the last 30 years.
~As yng.-bachelor in HollywoodHills circa mid-70's, late to an appointment, I spotted 'girl of my dreams' in front of a VenturaBlvd. Audio-shoppe. Double-parking my Corvette, i strolled over for closer impression! She was testing a Mic.; -i became enthralled by her voice & loveliness, and told her so; -she smiled graciously thanking me, then proceeded with the Mic. -Was later told by shop-owner- "Robair you should have stayed, ms.Carpenter hoped to become acquainted"; --i'm still heartbroken..!
I don't believe in god as no real evidence, but maybe due to the taking of our fantastic people like Karen Caprenter, Eve Cassidy, Aaliyah, Lisa Lopez, Selene etc, nearly Gloria Estefan and Kylie etc.. maybe we're already in hell and have to exceptional to be taken to a better place as these persons? I'll discount arsebusters like Freddie Mercury - he evern wrote a song after he found out he had aids, called 'who wants to live forever', most appropriate!
This is a cover they did, itslike she was singing to the audience and to her brother and family.....ironic when you really listen to it..."came out in front and i was hiding"....was a drummer and then became "karen"....and when my life is over remember when we were together...her voice will always be one of the true "vocal instruments" and she didn't even realize it, was just a gift and she learned how to use it and we are the lucky ones to get to know her talent beyond her precious life.
Karen's very finest vocal, EVER. This & Superstar will always be her finest vocals. Her voice is so sad, longing, wistful, & heartbreaking--only Karen could have sang it like this--& onlyRichard couldhave arranged it all so perfectly. A true Masterpiece. Wolfsky9
Thank you for such a wonderful video which brings back warm memories and thoughts of a simplier time. This is a beautiful song and no one could sing like Karen. God bless her!
Hands down, without a doubt, the most beautiful voice EVER!! she had such emotion and range in her singing....It stops me in my tracks when her songs play. I know many men who won't admit that they liked their music, but ehy can remember the words!! I love to watch the amazing reactions people still have to this music. Her voice is unmatched. This song and Superstar are my favorites!
This is a BEAUTIFUL tribute.I am as moved today by her voice as much as I was when I was in high school. She had somthing special and haunting about the way she sang her notes and melodies. That last pic of the drum set really hits home as well as this song (my favorite). Thanks for all the great pix.I wish she was still around but the sound of her voice makes you feel like she still is.
a great tribute to a phenomenal singer, the Carpenters made class A music and Karen was and always will be a Rock Star to me and millions the world over, her voice had the capacity to reach out and wrap itself around your heart, thank you for posting, i wish i could find a clip with her singing this song LIVE.
TY so much, I'm so happy you liked this. :_) She's someone I would've enjoyed to see in concert. When she died, that was the first time I shed a tear over the death of a celebrity. She touched so many ppl, & it's nice to see she still does!
i heard of Karen Carpenter before.. but i didon't know what she did. i saw a film.. a life story about her yesturday.. very sad how she died of anorexia.. has a wonderful voice though
The most beautiful voice I`ve ever heard! seriously is soooo pretty!! and this song is justttt somethin` i luv karen...i wan`t even born when she died buttt i really would like to meet her

Undoubtedly one of my favorites of The Carpenters' songs, Karen' voice was really something special and she was one in a million, I get emotional when I hear her singing the lines, "and when my life is over, remember when we were alone, I was singing this song for you'. Wish she were still here today with that angelic voice. Thanks for sharing this.
Love this song. Its so heartfelt. I hate Karen got taken away so early in life.

I know that this song was made by Leon Russel, but Carpenters version sounds quite another tune, because by Richard
arrangement and Karen voice. The title of song should be A song for Carpenters by Leon Russel in my personal opinion. I respect both of them.

It's sad that such a beautiful singer had to die so tragically and at such a young age. She will be forever missed.

This version is far superior to all other renditions.
No other songstress had that depth of emotion, which is why we still enjoy her talent decades after she left us.
