Supposing from all the comments I'll make an off-topic now, but does anybody know the title of the song at the beginning? Looks like a fun song to ride to :)
Hi Doug, love your videos. I was just wondering if forward lean helps or hurts when jibbing? I know it puts you in a more athletic stance, but I had also heard it could make landing flat based on boardslides difficult. Any thoughts?
Hey Doug. This year I got a rather stiff board, thinking I would just ride rather than hit up the park. I decided I'd try flatland tricks before going to the park, but I can't do butters and presses, even with a lot of practice...Is it because of my stiff board? It's a 7 stiffness on a scale of 10.
a lot of people think that your snowboard length has to do with weight and height but it doesnt impact that much im 5'11 and weigh 200 pounds and ride a 154 my friends 6'1 and 160 pounds and rides a 149 i feel it depends more on what you do and where your comfortable
I can't wait to try it again in a few weeks. I last tried to butter on the black moguls at Jay Peak this past may. My venture venue seems too stiff. Could it be lack of skill, lack of strength or just that my board is too stiff?
hey mate, just bought myself a k2 parkstar 157, im getting some new bindings this season, thinking the flux sf45s, i use 32 lashed boots, basically want to do a bit in the park, alot of messing around on pistes trying to get better with butters etc, but still want the stability to shred the mountain, thoughts on the sf45s? or alternatives? cheers mate
I can link turns like a pro but this eludes me... I cannot seem to get my board to flex even a little and I have fairly strong legs. What gives? I've heard that you can do this on any board but my 156 Uninc will not even come close to doing what you did at 1:10 . I need advice!
@mcadopted no your board wont break on a nose or tail press unless its a horrible board. if you have a board from any popular company like burton, forum, lib tech or any good company the board shouldnt break
@DavidVillaFan2010 ive got a 148 too im kind of a beginner... presses are really easy and its pretty good in powder and it has decent edges for your turns as long as you arent going to hit double black diamonds!!! It is amazing in the park you can pull presses, spins, and rails. Also this board is really good at landings with the flex of the board working there!! me and my friend bought this board and we both think we have been reborn into snowboarding!! (we used to use rentals) so yes!
wow its so da,n beautiful over there! btw i have a question, im skinny and i also dont weigh much, im not anorexic XD, but anyways, ive been using all terrain baords for 5 years, and i really want a deck with a lot of flex. the deck im currently using has fiberglass, but i cant seem to flex it as much as you. So i was wondering wat decck i should get? and wat company?
ARGH!!! I bought an Burton Process 157.. IDK but stuff like butters and other stuff at the park just seems impossible... Now I regret I didt get the V rocker model (I have the camber one)
Hi, I've just bought Signal Park Series and im so disappointed with this board. It was supposed to be very soft and flexbile but it's not. I tried to learn butters, etc but its so hard to press. I'm 5'9" 165lbs and i have 154cm baord with +15/-9 54cm stance.
Do you think this board is good for butters? Should i go for wider stance or 54cm it's good enough?
Many thanks for the video! As long as step 1 isnt hard, then step 2 seems impossible for me. Did you user rocker board or camber?
@sierrasnowboard Thank you for the tip! I set 23" and now it's much easier! Just practiced on carpet and step 2 with your tips now is not as hard as it looked at the beginning.
when i do a board press or nose press, i have a tendency to use an edge and end up doing kind of a slide instead of a press, and the board starts to rotate in one direction or another. i can keep the press for a long time but it just feels like i am doing the improper technique since my board's not flat based. what can i do to stop this from happening?
Hey i was wondering if u would consider a never summer sl-r 2010 to be good enough to butter with. i feel like it has enough flex to it to perform good board pressing, but i havent really tried it out that much
Great vids! Made me realize what proper park board softness actually is. My GNU Carbon Credit definitely cannot do presses or butters, but I bought it for what it was. Perhaps next year I'll look into getting a full-park board.
I can press really well on boxes and flat rails. But when i try it on a round rail or pontoon, i eat shit as soon as i get on the rail. If i am tail pressing i will often start turning backside and at that point i usually fall. Any tips?
not bad butterz but what he should have did was on a box do a nose press and tail tap out or on a flat down do a nose press to start off tap the kink and while in the air land back into a nose press, steeezin trick dog once you get it
@punkxr0ck3r - Try sliding the board from tip to tail as you get into the press. This will drive the board up on to the tail past the foot as you press.
@punkxr0ck3r belly button* im a snowboarding instructor and i was just working on this the other day in a clinic. if you dont have time to hit the slopes go somewhere in your house with carpet. put your boots on and strap in. when you take it to the next step while actually moving try it when your almost done with the run at the flat part. make sure your the opposite leg is extended
does how wide your stance is effect your presses? because my friend told me to widen my stance to get better balance, make it look better and how deep the flex will be?
@cloverskateteam - Your stance has everything to do with your board press. While a wide stance is great for your balance and increasing your range of motion, too wide of a stance will make it more difficult to flex the board.
Start at the reference stance for your board, go a touch wider (inch or two) and then play around until you find what works best for you.
@paintballez - You need to extend the flexed leg on the end of the board that your are pressing. Be careful in trying to pull up your front leg! This will cause pain to your hip.
@sierrasnowboard do other board sports too... im not trying to come off as cocky but i surf, skate, skimboard, wakeboard, longboard and i just recently started snowboarding and it makes it come very naturally
