  • is this at northstar?

  • i always stall once i get on the rail and cant start pressing instantly on the rail any tips?

  • Supposing from all the comments I'll make an off-topic now, but does anybody know the title of the song at the beginning? Looks like a fun song to ride to :)

Also great vids! I've learned a lot! :)

  • OKAY !!! i have to press with my backfoot ! i understand now why it was hard for my front leg to go higher with the board !

  • im 5,10 weigh 150 lbs and my board is 159, i ride park and free riding 50/50 i have size 13 feet and i ride a 158W is that too long?

  • I subbed cause you have the most useful trick tips

  • damn my board its too hard i cant do this easily

  • Hi Doug, love your videos. I was just wondering if forward lean helps or hurts when jibbing? I know it puts you in a more athletic stance, but I had also heard it could make landing flat based on boardslides difficult. Any thoughts?

  • Hey Doug. This year I got a rather stiff board, thinking I would just ride rather than hit up the park. I decided I'd try flatland tricks before going to the park, but I can't do butters and presses, even with a lot of practice...Is it because of my stiff board? It's a 7 stiffness on a scale of 10.

  • a lot of people think that your snowboard length has to do with weight and height but it doesnt impact that much im 5'11 and weigh 200 pounds and ride a 154 my friends 6'1 and 160 pounds and rides a 149 i feel it depends more on what you do and where your comfortable

  • Can a snowboard snap?

  • @GabboShreds no they are indestructible... of course the can but you wont snap it doing a press they are very tough.

  • im 5'4 and 100 pounds. i ride a 153. is that to long?

  • @skater10057 yes wwaaayyy to long im 5 8 and 178 and i ride a 152 if i wer you id go with a 140

  • how do you make your snowboard more flexible?

  • Aweeeeeeesome

  • thats the snowboard im getting for christmas!!! Sierra Stunt!!<3

  • Type STUPID NOOB NEEDS ADVICE in the search bar ( all caps) to watch my board presses and give me advice on them, Thank you! :)

    ~amortell1

  • wat snowboard were u using

  • @CheoSamadSSI dude how the hell did you progress that fast I've been riding seriously for two years and i can't do any of that!

  • is a signal park rocker a bad board but really good with butters?

  • I can't wait to try it again in a few weeks. I last tried to butter on the black moguls at Jay Peak this past may. My venture venue seems too stiff. Could it be lack of skill, lack of strength or just that my board is too stiff?

  • is this at Northstar, or seirra at tahoe?? CALIFORNIA FTW!!!!

  • do you need any board in particular to do this?

  • Can I do this with a stiff board?

  • hey mate, just bought myself a k2 parkstar 157, im getting some new bindings this season, thinking the flux sf45s, i use 32 lashed boots, basically want to do a bit in the park, alot of messing around on pistes trying to get better with butters etc, but still want the stability to shred the mountain, thoughts on the sf45s? or alternatives? cheers mate

  • Doug, what stance do you recommend for 154 board for ground tricks? 54-56cm or 58-60cm? im 5.9" and 160lbs.

    thanks

  • first time boarder here, it way be a stupid question but can I use a freestyle board to board press and do butter tricks on it?

  • @guardsofdroknar u use freestyle soft boards. Camber is the way to go!

  • im 6'0 and 160 pounds how big of a board would i need?

  • that thats one fucking flexible snowboard

will my board snap if its not as flexible? im scared.. =p

  • I can link turns like a pro but this eludes me... I cannot seem to get my board to flex even a little and I have fairly strong legs. What gives? I've heard that you can do this on any board but my 156 Uninc will not even come close to doing what you did at 1:10 . I need advice!

  • so is doug the one answering our questions?

  • @meganfoxed - Yes, this is me.

  • @sierrasnowboard is a signal park rocker a shitty board but just real nice with butters?

  • @sierrasnowboard is a signal park rocker a bad board but just real nice with butters?

  • I'm 5'4 , I weigh 8 stone 9 pounds and my board is 155 would you say that is too long?

  • @wehttam716 - What is a Stone? ;-) I would recommend something shorter for sure!

  • @sierrasnowboard Cool thanks guys..

  • im 5'9 and 118 pounds, is a 158 to long for me??

  • @Snowboard4546 im 5' 11" and 160 lbs and i ride a 155

  • @sierrasnowboard what length board do you ride?

  • @sierrasnowboard a stone= 14lb. 8 stone 9 is 121lb or about 55kg.

Is it worth attempting to develope butters on a stiffer all mountain board or should I forget that idea?

  • @wehttam716

    Yea, a couple sizes.

    im 5'5 and i ride a 145

  • what kinda board is that? i am in love with that setup, looks so sick

  • @pell819 - Sierra Stunt, check it out on TruSnow!

  • What's my ideal stance if I'm 6' 170 riding a 157 ?

  • @bazboo - Stance Width 24inches, Angles 15, -15

  • I'm 5'9 and my board is 158, is that too long?

and wats an ideal stance for me?

  • @Snowboard4546 - What is your weight? Width 23 inches and 12, -12

  • @sierrasnowboard is a K2 anagram 155 cm a good board to do presses on

  • @NIMZO1000 - yes it is.

  • is it possible for the board to break?

  • @mcadopted no your board wont break on a nose or tail press unless its a horrible board. if you have a board from any popular company like burton, forum, lib tech or any good company the board shouldnt break

  • @IMseanIsnowboard thanks :-)

  • @mcadopted - Yes, but it is rare when doing flat land tricks.

  • Is the Burton amazing have good flex?

  • @TheMiah06 - What is the Burton Amazing?

  • @sierrasnowboard its a newer board idk its really kool ummm dont mean to be mean but search it up i think you can only get it in store

  • @TheMiah06 i think it does..not sure it might have a flex or 3 or 4 (0 being noodle or w/e u wanna call it) but not sure

  • @DavidVillaFan2010 yea i found it is a 2 flex i think i can do presses sooooo easy!!! with awesome orange bindiings!!1 ANd gooooo SPAIN!!!!!!

  • @TheMiah06 i was thinking about getting the 148..have you ever tried it in powder and is good in park and all mountain?

  • @DavidVillaFan2010 ive got a 148 too im kind of a beginner... presses are really easy and its pretty good in powder and it has decent edges for your turns as long as you arent going to hit double black diamonds!!! It is amazing in the park you can pull presses, spins, and rails. Also this board is really good at landings with the flex of the board working there!! me and my friend bought this board and we both think we have been reborn into snowboarding!! (we used to use rentals) so yes!

  • What's an ideal stance width to start presses for someone who's 5'4, 145lbs, riding a 148?

  • @iiquikjaeii - Around 20" wide & 12, -12

  • what board is that?

  • @jon1151 - Sierra Stunt

  • I know its not a great board but is the M3 talon to stiff?

  • @topgearwideopen - It will work, but is nowhere near as good to press on.

  • is lib tech skunk ape to stiff cause it seems rly stiff?

  • @Doom66Gaming - Way too stiff

  • I am using DC PBJ 2011 is it flexible enough ??I a bit afraid of breaking the tail .. :S

  • @tzoutzouklerhs - It will be fine

  • i have a new 2011 burton custom. is it too stiff for butters and presses?

  • @danielpb10 - It will be much harder than on a Rocker Board

  • I have a Rome board do you think i will be able to butters and board presses

  • @WhereIsEverything2 - Depends which Rome Board. The Postermania is great for buttering and pressing!

  • tomorrow is going to be my 4th time snowboarding. trying not to kill myself ! ahahh, you make it seem soooooo easy ! great tutorials by the way!

  • What kind of board is this I'm really looking for a good jib board.

  • @MrSteez21 - The Board is the Sierra Stunt 155. It is a Rocker board with Burton's V-Rocker.

  • @MrSteez21 you should look into a capita horrorscope

i got on this year and i love it

its super buttery and so much fun on the hill

and it actually holds up for carving

  • im for sure gonna try some of this stuff next week, itll be a while before i can baord again so im gonna make it count!!! time to tear it up!!!

  • wow its so da,n beautiful over there! btw i have a question, im skinny and i also dont weigh much, im not anorexic XD, but anyways, ive been using all terrain baords for 5 years, and i really want a deck with a lot of flex. the deck im currently using has fiberglass, but i cant seem to flex it as much as you. So i was wondering wat decck i should get? and wat company?

  • @ginywiny - Any Rocker Board with soft flex will work. In the video I am using a Sierra Stunt.

BTW - Pretty much all snowboard have fiberglass in them.

  • ARGH!!! I bought an Burton Process 157.. IDK but stuff like butters and other stuff at the park just seems impossible... Now I regret I didt get the V rocker model (I have the camber one)

  • @FeA37HD - It is do able you just have to press harder into the tip or tail of the board to get into your press or butter.

  • hey what mountain are u at?

  • @hbom12345 - Northstar at Tahoe

  • Can you guys do a tripod trick tip?

  • @FullfaceTV - We will try to get one up for you.

  • tru-snow?

  • @poorluck1103 - Yes

  • Hi, I've just bought Signal Park Series and im so disappointed with this board. It was supposed to be very soft and flexbile but it's not. I tried to learn butters, etc but its so hard to press. I'm 5'9" 165lbs and i have 154cm baord with +15/-9 54cm stance.

Do you think this board is good for butters? Should i go for wider stance or 54cm it's good enough?

Many thanks for the video! As long as step 1 isnt hard, then step 2 seems impossible for me. Did you user rocker board or camber?

  • @marone83 - A rocker board will make it much easier. Go with a stance around 22" to 23" wide. Any wider will make it harder to flex the board.

  • @sierrasnowboard Thank you for the tip! I set 23" and now it's much easier! Just practiced on carpet and step 2 with your tips now is not as hard as it looked at the beginning.

Thank you for your VIDEOs !!!!!

    cheers!

  • when i tail press, my end up losing balence and become shaky and gotta put the board flat.

  • @xx4eversk1llzx - Make sure your body is not out of alignment and keep your knee rolled out over the press point on the tail.

  • hey Doug, is the Rome Artifact a good freestyle board?

  • @ToxicElectronics - It is, the Artifact Rocker is super fun for presses.

  • when i do a board press or nose press, i have a tendency to use an edge and end up doing kind of a slide instead of a press, and the board starts to rotate in one direction or another. i can keep the press for a long time but it just feels like i am doing the improper technique since my board's not flat based. what can i do to stop this from happening?

  • @sunshinevancouver - Square up your stance. Make sure you are not rotating your hips and shoulders into a turn.

  • Hey i was wondering if u would consider a never summer sl-r 2010 to be good enough to butter with. i feel like it has enough flex to it to perform good board pressing, but i havent really tried it out that much

  • @Sarticus35 - The SL-R can be buttered, but the Evo or Revolver would be a better choice.

  • Great vids! Made me realize what proper park board softness actually is. My GNU Carbon Credit definitely cannot do presses or butters, but I bought it for what it was. Perhaps next year I'll look into getting a full-park board.

  • where was this filmed because this place looks sick

  • @mattitudeversion2 - Northstar at Tahoe

  • i have the same bindings!!!

  • I can press really well on boxes and flat rails. But when i try it on a round rail or pontoon, i eat shit as soon as i get on the rail. If i am tail pressing i will often start turning backside and at that point i usually fall. Any tips?

  • @JOMO19921993 - Try landing on the rail and then press up into it once you have your balance.

  • lol, i'm in my room infront of the pc practicing this!:) awesome vids guys.

  • hey Doug! what are the angles of your bindings? and what board is the best for these kinds of tricks!?

  • @iamdede - 12, -12 is my preferred stance angles

  • and now do this 50-50 on a rail!

  • i believe that gnu danny kass is too stif for this trick :S....... is it sierrasnowboard ? :D

  • @nickodemo1 - It will be okay, but not the best choice for buttering.

  • not bad butterz but what he should have did was on a box do a nose press and tail tap out or on a flat down do a nose press to start off tap the kink and while in the air land back into a nose press, steeezin trick dog once you get it

  • i'm having trouble with the deep press like in 1:11... and when he was moving downhill with it.

can't seem to get my pressed foot off the ground like that cuz i'm pushing down on it. Hmm. any more tips for the deep press?

  • @punkxr0ck3r - Try sliding the board from tip to tail as you get into the press. This will drive the board up on to the tail past the foot as you press.

  • @punkxr0ck3r to add to this getting your belly bottom over the foot your pressing on will get your bodys center of mass to help you get the butter.

  • @NorthEasternSnow thanks man. i'll put it into consideration when i practice it again =]

  • @punkxr0ck3r belly button* im a snowboarding instructor and i was just working on this the other day in a clinic. if you dont have time to hit the slopes go somewhere in your house with carpet. put your boots on and strap in. when you take it to the next step while actually moving try it when your almost done with the run at the flat part. make sure your the opposite leg is extended

  • that board is rediculously flexible, its like paper thing and beds like nothing

  • 4 People obviously can't do this so they disliked.

  • @MrSteez21 - ;-)

  • I'm so excited for this snowboarding season :D

  • reverse camder?

  • @alittlechaos3 - yes

  • @alittlechaos3 ...its camber and ya id say

  • @Allaby Haha i didnt even realize i said canDer, i knew it was camber...

  • does how wide your stance is effect your presses? because my friend told me to widen my stance to get better balance, make it look better and how deep the flex will be?

    is this true?? HELP PLZ!!

  • @cloverskateteam - Your stance has everything to do with your board press. While a wide stance is great for your balance and increasing your range of motion, too wide of a stance will make it more difficult to flex the board.

Start at the reference stance for your board, go a touch wider (inch or two) and then play around until you find what works best for you.

  • he scared the shit outta me with the nose press

  • i have a burton clash, is it a good board for free riding?

  • @LittleBigSerg - It is good for novice and intermediate mountain riding.

  • ive got a burton 09 un inc. will this work well for board presses and butters?

  • @david3141592654 - For a cambered board, yes

  • am i the only person that it feels like my leg is coming out of the socket when i press like its pulling it and it hurts a little

  • @paintballez - You need to extend the flexed leg on the end of the board that your are pressing. Be careful in trying to pull up your front leg! This will cause pain to your hip.

  • Damn.... It looks like a banana!!

  • @LouisBSwaggin My Sierra Banana Stunt!!

  • OMFG 1:11 JUST BLEW MY MIND

  • wut board r u using? im looking for something that can handle jibs with enough flex as well as handle kickers

  • @ChristianWowk - Sierra Stunt

  • how can I improve my balance?

  • @thatsucks1000 - Practice, Practice, Practice. Get a balance board for practice at home.

  • @sierrasnowboard do other board sports too... im not trying to come off as cocky but i surf, skate, skimboard, wakeboard, longboard and i just recently started snowboarding and it makes it come very naturally

  • what does the video say at like 0:01 ?!

  • @MaTaya04 - That is the sound of the paper title.

  • where is this park

  • @gangstasizzle - Northstar at Tahoe

  • whats a good, cheap board that can bend like this one! my board now is way to hard and thick. Also, if i try to do a tail block with a stiffer board, do i risk breaking it? Thanks, Awesome videos BTW!

  • @modallen - check out the Sierra Stunt. That is the board I use in the video.

  • gnu park pickle is a good press board but its a little to flexly

  • i have a alround board, how can i make my board flex more?

  • @bigjayjens, There is not too much you can do other than buy a different board. If google cant tell you nothing can lol.

  • @bigjayjens - You can use better techniques to learn to flex a board more by using your legs, but sometimes you just need to add a soft board to your quiver.

  • @sierrasnowboard -im afriad that my board will break! will it?

  • @MaTaya04 - No, it will not break.

  • doubt it

  • great vids, very thorOO lol

  • damn...that board is like rubber.

  • loved the vid. How did you add the text and graphics to your vid? They look awesome!

  • @redbikerdude - Text and graphics are added using Motion in Final Cut Studio Pro, thanks.

  • HEy um will the 2011 stunt be 500 or 250 starting price.

  • @shutthehellup6666 - You will have to wait and see.

  • @sierrasnowboard wel that sucks and wat does the pi=oints on the sight mean i have 59 points

  • @shutthehellup6666 - Refer to the sight for information about points. You should be more positive ;-)

  • How can I make my board

    More flexible??

  • @TheRoyalChaos - Start by selling it and then buy a Sierra Stunt...

  • how do you like the capita sierrascope?

  • @ActionGoose - Love it! I ride a 156. It looks like we will be making more for 2011 as well with some awesome new graphics.
