  • Hi Schnumann,

If you look up to the details of this video, you'll see I left a link to the original post on my blog. You can view the video more clearly there, download it, and also download the script I'm using.

    Hope that helps,

    Ella

  • I think this is an interesting video, but it is so blurry I cannot tell.

  • Oh my god great tutorial

  • Can we see the query code? It's too fuzzy in the video.

  • Hi,

If you click on the link thats under "More Info" (the grey window on the upper right corner of the video page), youll be redirected to my blog. There you can view the webcast more clearly, download it to your PC and also download the script I used.

    All the best,

    Ella

  • Ella,

I installed Report Builder 2.0 and it looks a little different than yours. The windows says " Microsoft SQL Server Report Builder" but yours says "Microsoft Report Designer". I have searched the web for a standlone of MS Report Designer and could not find. I have install even a full version of BIDS and it still does not have MS Report Designer.

I really wanted to do my reports using this new tool than SSRS Report Builder.

    Where do I find it?

    Thanks Ella.

  • Hi,

Well Report Builder 2.0 should look a little different on your PC than in my video. I admit I made the video while it was still an early CTP and not yet a fully fledged product. Report Builder 2.0 (the final product) gives you everything shown in the video give it a go!

    All the best,

    Ella

  • Hey Ella,

Great work. Clear voice with good video.

    Ramesh.

  • Thank you :)

  • I have VS2008 and SQL2008 installed, but I don't see the Report Designer. I can create a report with VS, but the interface looks different. What version of Report Designer are you using?

  • This is actually a demonstration on a basic report in Report Builder 2.0 which is considered a part of Reporting Services, though its a different application (look in the list for SQL Server 2008).

    All the best,

    Ella

  • Hi Ella, Thanks for the response. I just reinstalled SQL Server 2008 on a virtual machine and I do not see any tools related to reporting. Here is a list of folders that I do see: Analysis Services Configuration Tools Documentation and Tutorials Integration Services Performance Tools Import and Export Data SQL Server Business Intellegence Development Studio SQL Server Management Studio I just remembered that I did not install SQL Express, but don't believe that should matter.
  • Sorry, I forgot Report Builder does not come with SQL Server 2008, but rather with SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack. You can download the entire feature pack from the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 site > Try it > Download trial > Download the SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack, or you can look up the web for "Report Builder 2.0" and download just that part.

After the download, you'll see it as an application on its own, with the name of: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Report Builder 2.0.

    All the best,

    Ella

  • That makes sense. I will try that.

Thanks for your help and a great video.

    Randy

  • Happy I could help

  • Most welcome Ella ;-)

  • Hi Ella, Nice Video :)!

  • Thanks :)

  • Hi Ella,

Are you familiar with the "RTL" issue on SSRS2005? When a table property of Direction is set to RTL it does not affect ther report preview or exporting. Will it be fixed on SSRS2008?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Mkorr,

I have to admit I haven't checked the problem. When I return from vacation I'll try to look into it.

    Regards,

    Ella

  • i try to find a solution to this problem in 2005- RTL Page Layout-

but u said it is issue on SSRS2005

say to me 'stop, there are no solution'

    thank u

  • Hi Mrkorr and Gamaladam,

First of all, Mrkorr - I apologize for the late reply, it took me a while to get back on track after my holiday.

Secondly, I created a report in SSRS 2008 with a Tablix which has a layout direction of RTL. Unfortunately enough, I guess they haven't fixed this problem when they moved from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008, because both in the print layout and the report I exported to Excel, I got a table that looked like it was actually LTR.

    Hope that helped,

    Ella

  • Hi Ella,

I'm glad to see you replied. Well, my organization is working with the SQL Server 2005 products so this is becoming quiet an issue for us. i tried installing a hotfix that supposed to work it out and it didn't work. Is it true that SQL Server simply does not support RTL tables?

  • Hi Mkorr,

Well, if the hotfix didnt help you then I can only recommend that you post a question on the MSDN forum for SSRS (unfortunately enough though, YouTube does not allow me to give you the direct link so youll have to look it up)

    All the best,

    Ella

  • Hi Ella, I just installed sql 2008 but I cannot find that folder you mention on start menu, what version are you using? or what do I need to have the report designer? Pls help! =)

  • Hi Djmigra,

"Report Builder 2.0" (which in the CTP was still "Report Builder Preview") is now under "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Report Builder" > "Report Builder 2.0". But that's only if you installed it specifically, or as part of the SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack. It does not ship with SQL Server 2008 itself. Check my blog (through the link at "More Info") for more details.

    Regards,

    Ella

  • Video definition poor.

  • Hi Xanado,

I apologize for the quality of the video. You can see it more clearly on my blog if you like. The link is under "More Info".
