A rifle shot can make a number of noises - the exiting of the bullet from the muzzle, the tearing of the bullet through the air and the striking of the bullet on its target not to mention the echoes as the sounds rebound off surrounding buildings.

It is no suprise that there was confusion over the number of shots and their sources.

However the medical and ballistic evidence is the key and it proves that at three shots were fired from Oswald's weapon and he alone was involved.

The X-Rays and the autopsy evidence is the decider. The bullet that struck JFK in the back left a trail of fragments in the cranium before it exited the right side of the head. There is no evidence of any other bullet striking JFK in the head from any other weapon than the Oswald rifle.

Three spent hulls were found at the TSBD.

No other hulls were found and most witnesses heard only three shots.

There is no credible evidence of a suppressed weapon used to kill JFK or any other weapon.

Each of them concluded that there was clear evidence of two shots to the head.

Riley "John Kennedy was struck in the head by two bullets, one from the right front and one from the rear."

Robertson "the President was killed when he was struck in the head by two bullets instead of one as previously reported."

I don't agree that Nellie Connally's testimony has zero bearing. She was in the car when the shooting happened and, even though it was a long time ago, what she has to say is very important. In this clip she says nothing about a single bullet theory, but she does say that she believes Oswald was the sole assassin and that three bullets were fired, or at least that one bullet hit her husband and two others hit the president...

And when she says at the end that "maybe Oswald got them both", she means that maybe Oswald was ultimately responsible for her husband's death as well the president's, but not that he hit them both with a single bullet. And, of course, some people say that four, not three bullets were fired, and that one bullet missed the car entirely. But only three empty shells were found in the Book Depository, so something doesn't add up and probably never will.
