  • If you don't want to look like a bunch of duffuses,do all the cranking shit off camera, warm the car up, then start the camera and start the car and show everyone how badass it is. Jeeeeze rookies.

  • Engine starts and STAYS running at 2:25

  • isn't methanol a higher octane fuel? if so it should burn easier therefore starting easier. it's like using starter fluid or carburetor cleaner to start it and btw once it turns over.... don't let it die hit that little thing next to your foot i think it's called the gas pedal not trying to sound like an ass or anything but come on you can build an engine but you can't get it started?

  • Octane is actually a measurement of a fuels resistance to burn..... it has a higher heat value...there fore produces more BTU's BUT the flash point of the fuel is MUCH higher..... starting a cold engine on methanol can be difficult not to to mention the cam in that motor prolly has a huge overlap.. so at low rpm's doesn't have the greatest compression....trust me its hard to start a cold motor on methanol.

  • @TheLucidsun didn't know that about the octane but that hard to start?

  • @eXp0N3nT1aL

depending on the compression and the initial timing.. definately.. pro stock guys are always squirting pure nitro methane in their blower hoods to get their cold engines started.. blower cars often have a hard time starting... lower compression huge cylinder volumes and big valve overlap contribute to this.. but my guess is this guy had retarted his timing just a little bit too much... but its a safe way to beat preignition on a new motor.

  • needs a cold start methanol injector lol just an idea .

  • I love the mask...Will you be flying in high altitudes? I gotta stack 351. gettin headman headers [:

  • time to change ur starter

  • dont you love it how people get on here and try to tell you how to build your ride...you've got this far with out them right

  • Im building an 89 mustang with an F2. Ive been thinking of going with the gear drive set up for the supercharger. Have you had a problem with throwing or breaking the cog belt on your set up? Im looking for direction on my build. So it helps when I get peoples opinion when they have a built and run car.

  • Cant you use a block heater to pre warm the engine to help it start easier

  • @72Horton That aint no diesel, son.

  • @Bamchucknorris LOL!!! Ya I can see it's no diesel. Regular gas engine cars have block heaters from the factory for the colder states. I wasn't trying to disrespect you. Nice engine. Good luck with your car.

  • is this the first time this engine has been started after a build?

  • @troy5251

    Yes, first time.

  • wow nicee

  • shouldnt be that hard to get an engine to stay cranked. Probably somethin minor and an easy fix. Nice set up though

  • Boy she was being quite stubborn for ya guy's eh.

  • man that thing is a turd to start. nice car tho. :)

  • gear reduction

  • can't you use a little gas to start it?,they do it on fuel motors

  • no intercooler?

  • wow thats a really impressive starter with sum real dumasses using it

  • they know more about cars than almost all of you

  • ford enough said

  • Yep, Ford is awesome.

    =D

  • Why would you keep cranking it like that!!???!?!?

  • waist of my time

  • Spray some gas, paint thinnger, or anything flammable at a lower rate and fire it up. I would be imbarrased to post this video.

  • BLOW THROUGH's DO NOT work...

  • do you have problems with the main webbing in the block?

  • wow its running now, shut it off and replace the battery and starter!

  • WOOOW that hurts

  • prime it? I seen em at the races with a bottle of fuel primer mashin on it before.

  • I don't think the intake could have been placed in a worse spot. Sick car though...

  • YIKES!

  • there is a huge difference in prochargers and all centrifugal chargers vs a turbo!!! especially when it comes to lag and tq numbers! and if you are going to put a centrifugal charger...procharger is the way to go!! self containment baby!!! no need to tap the oil pan. can be installed within 5-6 hours or less! (minus tunning). believe me, i have a turbo setup on my mustang, it was a pain in the ass to do, unless you spend a shit ton of money and buy a kit. which i did not!

  • dont forget about the battery.... poor thing!

  • poor starter

  • Try priming the motor with gas if it is cold. Alcohol doesnt like to burn when its cold.

You will save the starter and not wash down the cylinders.

  • i feel for the starter.......

  • whats a procharger ?

  • its a supercharger .... supercharger forces air into the engine to make more power

  • yet they SHOW the turbocharger

  • omfg you are stupid

  • It is actually a "centrifugal supercharger".

    That's what Prochargers are.

And there are root style superchargers such as Kenne Bells.

  • eXCore420... lol you sir are tardeded

  • procharger is just a brand name.

wat you are looking at is a centrofugal(doubt my spelling is right) supercharger

and basicaly wat that is is like a turbo but instead of being run off of the escapeing exauhst its rum off a belt.

  • thx

  • get a holden

  • The timing was correct on the engine and this was the FIRST time we tried to start up the engine with Methanol. The problem was that we didnt get any Methanol in to the cylinders, but we have learn, so today we are starting the engine really easy, by having full throttle in a couple of seconds then we cranking the engine and before pressing the ignition button. So, please dont give us any more STUPID comments, we know what we did wrong, please look at the other videos then we run 4.63s@660ft.

  • Just so you know that respirator will not help you in oxygen deficient environments. Aka what the car is creating in a closed room by running. The thing filters air it does not add oxygen to it. What I am saying is take the mask off your wasting your time.

  • Use a nitrous plate to purge some gas into that thing to get it started faster.

    Trust me..it really works.

  • Yes, we have that in mind to use a couple of NOS Fogger nozzles to purge the engine.

But then we found out that if you have full throttle in a couple of seconds then you crank the engine before push the starter switch, there was no need for any NOS kits anymore because it starts really easily.

  • in the future make sure that engine is set to run, excessive cranking on a new or any engine is a no no.you can take the life out of a lot of parts.

  • your ganna burn up the starter trying for that long...

  • Correctbut we can all see that the Summit starter is working GREAT and we still using the same starter without any problems. So we/you cannot complain on the Summit qualify starters.. hehe

  • @fordlightning If i had the dough to build a motor like that, Im pretty sure i wouldnt worry much about a $300 +- starter when tryin to fire the bitch up LOL O_o :-D

  • @kermet12345 this is true. lol i honestly don't even remember commenting on this...lol

  • Please tell me... what make of battery you are using? I gotta get me one!

  • We are using a 16V battery, Turbo Start.

  • This engine sounds to be out of time, but some race engines are cycled to build oil pressure. Ever see a nascar start? Keep on machining.

  • Thanks so much...I'm sure these guys would have no idea what to do without your "expert" advice.

    XD XD XD

  • god learn how to time an engine.

  • Don't forget to look at the video's then we running with the car at MECA Raceway in Sweden.

  • Super Sweet Car!!

  • SHIT!!!!

    thats kool

  • poor poor starter, get a timing light! :) jk cool car brotha!

  • agree 100%

  • Methanol is hard to cold start on mate
