this is the funniest thing i've ever seen. It kinda reminds me of mario platform games where you jump from platform to platform but with an easter twist. Try adding more levels with enemies and traps and puzzles and stuff and you could have a really nice game

On the soft website, they say they created a "aesy for dummies" prog language.

It's easy to read and code, and strong enough for what it designed for.

If you expect to pick up any program, and have it magically produce what you want without learning it first. Then it's natrually going to fail. However, if you put time and imagination into it. You'll suprise yourself.

Are you meaning reading the ASM code of the game?

That is the ONLY way to read already compiled source code (Unless there is a very decent decompiler out there for DB) but ASM is really challenging to understand and in my view it wouldnt be worth it.

Well done kid but you really should be facing on C++ nothing more and nothing less it's the most easiest and most powerful language you can get the best examples of this are like XNA, Visual C++, The PS3 Operating System all those things are written in of course C++ Dark Basic is a nice program but C++ is better so get learning and don't say you can't because there are loads of free tutorials. Try and use OpenGL, OpenAL and newton physics and i know them and i'm thirteen.

DarkBasic is a nice way to start learning the basics of programming, without all the fidgety bits that C++ has, such as pointers. Then it'll be easier to move up to C++.

And by the way, XNA is for C#, lol.

i know it is but if you can make your own Apps out of it it is known as a language, and your right Dark Basic is good to kick of with but with C++ well for just an example type in Gamebryo to see the power of a high-end game engine created in C++ .

Yup i have Gamebryo, and i thnk it's among the BEST engines ever, made games like The elder scrolls which (If you dont know it) Have some of the best graphic ever seen. :) and this game do look cool! Now can i ask, is it possible to mix python and darkbasic code? How big? That's entirely up to you.

I would recommend it. I'm making a fairly advanced FPS with coop and all that shit. Took only about a week or two got learn to program with it properly, and that's coming from somebody who has never programmed before.

Its pretty slow; the games outputted are generally not as good looking, it doesn't support physics or alot of other "next gen" ish things. MUCH easier to start off on though.

NICE!!! these are the kinda games that dark basic was made for! like those little games you buy or download off of shockwave (like polar bowler). If you want to make games like half-life or some thing then you should use Torque engine or C6, but, if you want these games, use darkbasic :)

I just started using DB yesterday, and I also want to learn to make a menu. I can only make a menu with Flash (noob stuff) and Mark Overmar's Gamermaker (Easy to make the menu if you think about it.) I love DB so far, Proffesional rocks, I can't wait to buy it! Its the first programming language that is easy to learn, unlike action script where I read an entire book of tutorials for it and only learned to commands! Your game is awsome!
