Kool And The Gang is one of the best bands of all time, for me the best soul funk group ever. I just love them, they got good music and every song was a hit. They were all musicians 13 all together, They are superb, ny favorite song of all Love Festival 1981 from the album Celebration

Now ...it's not him ! That's what I was trying to say in fact; cause Curtis "Fitz" Williams joined the group only in 1982 , but before there was that other young guy -the one we see here- he was there only from 1979 to 1981...then he left... he used to be the second keyboardist(the other one being "Kool" and Ronald's brother : Kevin Bell...) ... I don't know his name... but I am sure it's not Curtis "Fitz" Williams (didn't join yet by the time this video was made [1981] ...)

Yep : Kevin Bell (who stayed in his brothers' group but for one or two years [left by late 1981]...) Thank you ! Actually, I happened to found out who was who, I used to mix up the different keyboardists they had at some point : there was that guy called Earl Toon Jr. (who also stayed just one or two years with them...); but the ones I often mix up in the videos are Kevin Bell and "Fitz", who came later...here, it seems it was still their young brother (Kevin Bell) ...Thanks !

Thank you for your comments. I thought I was the only person who thought so. The man can sing and to sing nose to tail (falsetto) is very difficult but JT nailed it. I have all the K&TG JT CD's and his four solo albums.

However, I can understand why there are many differing opinions on the best lead vocalists. THere's Teddy P, Thomas Shelby, Charlie Wilson, Michael Jackson, Stokley Williams, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Philip Bailey, Kevon Edmonds...the list goes on....so perhaps one of the best is more appropriate to JT.

Right on, rufusblue! I am 55 and can confirm the musicians of the 70s and 80s, such as Kool & the Gang, were the most creative and talented folks in the history of contemporary music. I have 26-year-old twin daughters. They love the 70s disco sounds and used to frequently ask me what the music scene was like back then. My reply was always, "Fabulous!"
