  • This is really the best interpretation of Polovetsian Dances I have seen on the whole internet.

  • Charles Bukowski 1920-1994 "the life of Borodin" the next time you listen to Borodin remember he was just a chemist who wrote music to relax; his house was jammed with people: students, artists, drunkards, bums, and he never knew how to say: no. the next time you listen to Borodin remember his wife used his compositions to line the cat boxes with or to cover jars of sour milk; she had asthma and insomnia and fed him soft-boiled eggs and when he wanted to cover his head to shut out the sounds
  • you can t stop hearing it again and again . i is just outstanding !

  • In a word-stunning. TY neuronauta for posting this treasure.

  • Borodin es un genio!!

  • I saw this opera at the Bolshoi in Moscow in 1981 went straight over to Gum and bought the vinyl LP cost 3 Roubles , still play it 30 years later. Money well spent I would say.

  • I am learning this for a concer in July. The English lyrics, as in my score, are as follows:-

Fly away on gentle breezes; fly swiftly, songs of low to greet our homeland.

Where once we lived in hope and knew no sorrow, where once we sang, rejoicing in our freedom.

There beneath the burning sky languid breezes cooled us,

There the cloud-capp'd mountains dream above the silver sea.

There our days were long and care-free amid the sunlit hills and shady meadows,

  • Yes please someone translate into English!

  • Imagine the generations who have dearly loved this piece and the entire opera. Timeless! Some noble soul please translate the lyrics into English. The Sissel vid's lyrics seem a little minimal. Thank you whoever posted this. Thank you!

  • simplemente bello!!

  • Excelente!.

  • Whenever I think of pure beauty, Borodin's masterpiece comes to mind. I cannot think of more than a few things as beautiful as this.

    Carmen

  • I have loved this music for 16 years, yet this is the first time to view the opera and lyrics. I have been crying my eyes out watching it. The ballet is just what I imagined it would be all these years. And the words fit the music so beautifully, even though I do not understand them, it doesn't matter.

  • I must find a live performance. I'll go anywhere to see it.

    I'm a jaded cynic, but..

I cry every time I listen to this.

  • very beautiful representation of old traditions that are part of every human life : the dangers are at hand, but also the pleasure to stay alive ... anyone has to face them, it is a link between all of us ... simply beautiful !

  • Simplesmente sublime!!!

  • a glimpse of pure heaven

  • I discovered it and have listened all day , all day, this is divine music.

    Grazie

  • Brilliant, savage, it takes you to another time and dimension, it made me cry.

  • do you know Russian or you like music & voices without understanding subject of song? hmmm... if i will find this record -- i let you know;-)

  • I like the music! I like to know the subject too, but I just want to listen to it in my Mp3 player!!! It´s Like The four seasons of vivaldi! I Know the subject now, but I ever loved it!!

    Sorry about the bad english!!!

    Thx

  • Don't worry about only 'liking the music' or the rhythm, or how it sounds. You don't -really- need to know the lyrics or even the subject to like it. That's how most of us start anyway.

It's not like anyone will look at google and type 'I want a suffering melody, that's not emo, has meaning, death and aristocracy and it's played by strings and has a chorus'

;) anyway, if you liked this one, try listening to 'Madam Butterfly'

  • Magistral ! J'adore
