True the melodies will for ever be there to be remembered like the Bee Gees or Bittles. Although I do not understand the meaning of the song, but certainly its better than the digital engineered music of today. Thanks to YuoTube for the good collection, The African legend should rest in peace
@ngwijinka I so agree with your comment, particularly re: the digitally engineered aspect of music produced today, Afro, Roumanian, American, etc.
I am so angry at how African music has been so westernized. But we lknow the difference. That's why we're here, in the company of genius, heart, and awareness.
Franco was quoted as having said that he had sung all of RHUMBA.I now realize how right he was seeing that nowadays we have noise in place of music.Who else will assemble such talents as was witnessed in OK JAZZ---the all conquering orchestra of generations to come. This particular song helped to induct me to OK Jazz, around 1978.Listening to it takes me back in time.
@7116219. this albums were what i used to listen to from friday evening when i came back to the house after whole week of work. slip down to shorts, relax and just enjoy the melody, the arrangement of music! just soothes your soul. no wonder some claim that music was inspired by the devil. After all he was the arch angel!
Just listen to how Luambo's acoustic guitar rings out..................it leaves you speechless and deft...before you realize your body is rocking and swaying from side to side. Much so spiritually. This is genius and a show of rare artistry in the history of Orchestre.....not Band. The whole squad was gifted to entertain. I have said it before and I will repeat it here.....This kind of music will NEVER AGE. It was not produced for money. It was produced to sooth our souls. Merci mingi.
Why would such God-given talents really have to go through turbulent times like the way most of these musicians did? I know what your answer is....but then do we condemn (judge) them for turning away from the Lord or do we give thank them for sharing their much treasured gift in music? Can someone out there share their inputs on this issue please? Thanks.
Perfection! The arrangement includes: introduction, main body, climax and a conclusion just like a perfectly planned essay or argument! True innate art not acquired! What wonderfully gifted African men! THE NINE MONTHS FOLLOWED BY LABOR PAINS OF THEIR MOTHERS WERE DEFINITELY NOT WASTED! This perfection should be extended to running Africa and we would be the envy of the world! Can you imagine that possibility...get rid of those crippled by self aggrandizement, and left talent less by greed!
AboubacarSiddikh, you are a true "musicologue". You brought me back to my childhood. Since you are living "disc store" and an "historian", what happened to Franco's wife, kids and fortune?
Yes, I hear Sam too.

My dear Brother,
You do not need to understand this sweet african melody before loving it. It is part of our african treasures, and we enjoy them as they come out.

Dear,
I can clearly and distinctly hear the voice of Sam Mangwana in this song, a proof that they were all followers of Franco at one time.
Good Music. African Treasures.

Aboubakar,
Once more, thank you for this wonderful reminder-piece. This was recorded in 1975, and Sam Mangwana was still in the group.
