if you are worried about scratching, use pipe dope on the areas that contact the hanger. if you have the smart cover (or any cover), use that on the back when you place it in the hanger for extra protection.

A way to make this stand better is to add a bit of foam or a household sponge to the bottom and the back rest. Just to make sure you iPad doesn't get scratched.
