In fact, while it doesn't show that he hates us, what it demonstrates (because he is not here in person to teach us anything) is that he doesn't care at all. Would you let your son/daughter choose to drink alcohol regularly at age 8? Have sex at age 12? Smoke at age 6? You don't let them choose these things because you love and care for them. Free will is constrained for their own protection.
