  • 1 word: Badass.

  • I've never been more jealous of another's talent or opprotunity as I am now. Hell. I wish *I* had a willing orchestra to play with me.

  • well even tho spain isnt rlly big on much modern stuf u gotta give em props on their spanish music. its so fun to play =)

  • @ynomir50 I have to disagree with you lightly. i strongly feel that he wasnt 'on the borderline' he gave just the right amount of force. he has great volume and he knew that a certain color came out when you bowed the g-string like that. it was perfect for this intense peice. If you think hes "on the borderline" then u must think maxim vengerov killed his stradivari. i think it was pure passion. hes excellant. BRAVO is correct.

  • @ninjalikesweapons Definitely agree with that. I love the amount of force he puts in. Lalo is a very forceful composer, I believe. I'm not as good as Marek, I do play violin, and I certainly agree with the tempo he went with. This is only my opinion of my own music, but the slow tempo builds suspension. His vibrato is very beautiful too, I have to say. Bowing is very persise too. You need a lot of stamina for this peice too. Very good stamina. I love his style of playing also.

  • I'm not a musician, yet I perceive it to be a bit slow, more technical that passionate - the sound I mean, not the violin treatment - after all it's "Allegro, but not much". The wind's entrance @ 4:37 it's a bit 'mechanical' and sounds as if slightly separated from the main instrument. What do I know, anyway...I liked it.

  • Great musician! I like this piece of music nad his playing is awesome! :)

  • is it fine tuner ringing when playing on G string?

  • @BenJiang311 No, it isn't ringing

  • grandiosoooo !!! =)

  • Spanish Symphony by Edouard Lalo, plays Semyon Snitkovsky.

Everyone can compare the interpretation and after that tell about his opinion.

  • Well... Not bad at all, but I was wondering , why this guy has more views than kogans heifetzes etc...

mayybe it's the apearence, who knows:)

  • @igalviola

It's gotta be the hair. Hahaha.

  • Great performance!

    Bravo!

  • i like this pace and i love this version (the most, personally, out of youtube vids). i wonder if people'd say the same thing if they just hear the audio without the violinist's name or description whatsoever.

  • crap orchestra

  • the orchestra destroyed the piece....

  • wish i could play like that!!! awesome job!

  • Good playing, but I think the interpretation from this player _really_ detracted from the meaning and the feel the song should have (from composer and time period/style) Well done none the less

  • you are very nice and you feel this muzik..thank you :)

  • Amazing! How old are u? Keep up the good work! U will be a star if you aren't already.

  • very pro dude....how much do u practice every day?

  • great job.

  • love your vibratoo

  • ah this gives me hope, solo ensemble is in nine days... thanks for posting

  • that's intense....

  • Really great =)

  • but this peice this guy played i would give about a 7/10. fantastic but needs to watch for intonation...

  • how bout this, u boith stfu?

  • Beautiful!! I've enjoyed it immensely!!

    :D

  • intonation issues with orcehstra... lol! other than that rock on kiddo!

  • no one can beat you no one. not even pros.

  • tighten the bow

  • @galexwong stupid ignorant thinks he knows it all pig

  • The opening is so juicy!!! :) Your vibrato is perfect for this piece, too.

  • beginning is my favorite part! im actually playing this piece now and thanks to this vid im playing it up to speed and really well :D im going to post a vid of my concert once i have it

  • i don't like the camera views. who really wants a camera right underneath him the whole time?

  • BRAVO!!!! Loved it, but a few things to improve on.....

Like most other people are saying, the speed did seem a little slow.

There is a borderline between "passionate" and "killing your violin", and you're on the borderline. keep it real.

Overall great, your recordings of the lalo have helped me A LOT. Thank you.

    btw LOVE the hairstyle:-)

  • @ynomir50 You might find that he is over the borderline of kiling hhis violin when he cuts his E string with his bow later on in this piece and has to make a prompt exchange! lol

  • @ynomir50 nope, he crossed the borderline when he broke his E-string in the fifth movement. :P

  • AMAZING but a bit faster, no offense, i am learning this piece at 12 and its a good idea at how it should sound

  • several things I can say:

    1. very good intro for creativity and musicality it is definitely worth copying.

    2. shirt fits occassion

    3. good passion

    4. tempo could/should maybe have been faster I don't know just my feeling.

    5. bowing and fingering not perfect but very close, close enought to play in front of an orchestra.

Sorry if this offends you. This is how I would play it. I don't think the piece is about speed but it is a crucial ingredient in my opinion.

  • such beautiful tonee...nice =]

  • he plays well, but yeah, too much strenght! that is bad your violin! That makes the strings will easily broken. That's why his violin string was broken on the fifth movement!

  • He has great sound and projection. A little too robust for my liking, but still a great artist.

  • too much strenght or too much passion

  • this is the best version ever better then heifets

  • by far, he plays the intro to this song much better than many of the olden people (heifetz, leonid, and such). this is by far my fav concerto and depics such variety among the movements with a great final one

  • I think he plays the intro with a little too much strenght.

    But he's still very good!!

  • People have the strangest, most unorthodox opinions, I swear. I don't believe that you actually think that this kid plays the beginning better than the old masters. I just don't see how anyone would even consider thinking that, sorry lol.

  • it could just be a modern opinion, but those players i talked about. all of them chicken out in the beggining. this fellow plays it with force. the only other great player that i think has the BEST into to this would be (and she isnt widely known) is nadja sollerno-sonnenburg. which unfortunately she doesnt have a recording of her playing this on youtube but on itunes yes.

  • "Modern opinion"? No way. I'm sure the vast majority of the universe would disagree with you. This kid plays very well, but obviously it's unfair to compare him to the greats at his age. The strength in his sound is admirable and beautiful but the old masters are the MASTERS

  • which u also have to understand that whatever ever the greats play, such as heifetz, isnt law. the way people play and who sounds the best depends only on ones own opinon. am i saying that he is better than any of them? no, but he does excell in how he translates this movement in my own opinon.

  • You are correct that it is a matter of opinion but your original comment "by far, he plays the intro to this song much better than many of the olden people" sounded more like a statement of something that you consider to be a fact, not an opinion.

  • a fact in my eyes and an opinon in others.

  • have a happy thanksgiving btw :)

  • I totally agree. what is up with this ridiculous fetishizing. screw his master signifyer "master" you know sometimes there is a point in deconstruction, maybe he could elaborate exactly what he expects us to understand about the music from his statment about the masters being being masters. pavelec has kick. and well, pavelec is pavelec too..

  • @Vanzetti1936 what do you mean? Sorry I don't understand what you are talking about.

  • kaminskiian makes a good observation about the intro, he really does play with gutso!

By the way when you quoted kaminskiian, you didn't get any of it right. You would immediately lose points in your debate.

  • I'm sorry but I totally don't agree.

  • You wouldn't

  • @AbsoluteZ3R0.... What do you mean: that I wouldn't?

  • @AbsoluteZ3R0 first its not necessary that the "masters" play perfect

second i think every and each one has his own opinion so maybe he plays the beginning better than the masters or maybe not but he plays great

and to manage playing the violin this good you are a master

  • @theqwe123098 Man whatever, look, if you think this kid sounds as good as Heifetz, Perlman, Hahn, etc then you're a chump and your words mean nothing to me.

  • i like the shirt, it fits the espangnole theme :]

it reminds me of a matador

  • @luckixlino Yes, i agree!;)

  • fantastic !

i want to play like you !

  • I thought he did a great job. There are some points in that piece I'd play differently, but overall it was great. He's so lucky to have the chance to play that piece with an orchestra. But yea, i must agree with assagatassa, I don't like the shirt so much...

  • Don't like it. Ladusa sounds outstanding though =/

  • This is awesome!!! Even though he didn't tune the strings the strings to each other completely, he still played in tune! Do you know what kind of ninja adaption reflexes it takes to play in tune on your instrument when your strings are not tuned quite right?!!! =O

  • My wish is to play with an orchestra. This guy is so lucky to play with one, I never had a chance to play with an orchestra.

I can handle this piece pretty well, but it's difficult. I've had struggles too :P, it's hard to keep the higher range in tune.

What this guy needs is a better violin. listen to the violin, the string keeps on hitting the fingerboard, and the sound of the violin doesn't sound good either.

  • @moelove2008 its not a song jesus!!!!!

  • he is slightly out of tune in some parts, specially when involving shifting, but i'm amazed!!!!!!!! WONDERFUL!!!!!

  • great job :)

  • lol what a horrible shirt!

but good violinist (just a bit slow, isn't it?)

  • I hate vibrato that that radiates from the elbows! When you vibrate too quickly, it just sounds like a blurry mess. sorry, anne-sophie mutter...

  • No it does not

  • beautiful!! Lalo would be proud!

  • Demasiado bestia a veces... pero está bien (:

aunq yo lo toco mejor xDDDD

  • awesome!!!! I'm trying to play this but...it's difficult :S:S:S my teacher is mad XDDD

  • vaya pelos!

  • Parece uno de los Ramones !!

  • i dont know where but iv seen him before and i cant remember where... either way he is good good sense of rythem

  • So is this violinist a student from Czech? I love his confidence :)

  • let the music carry you don't resist with your notion of what you "think" is right

  • hmm... i think what he needs is a MASTERCLASS from a really good teacher

  • the kid is good (from a violin player)

  • THANK you!

  • No I don't think so.

  • you probably dont even play violin. He's pretty good for his age ,I'm guessing he's not even 18. He's really good! look at his sound , control ,vibrato etc...

  • i never said he wasn't. he is great, but i'm just suggesting that he's a little stiff due to a lot of his excellent control. after control and technique(which he has mastered), he should work on bringing out/projecting his personal emotions next.

and i do play violin fyi

  • He is soo good Who is he. Is he famous like Sarah Chang too.

  • He plays it with such power and command :)

  • Impressive. How old is he?

  • pretty good, lol, the orchestra's a little out of tune too...

  • and you need to work on your spelling :)

  • great playing. Not flawless, his intonation needs work but his has the spirit of a virtuoso.Or his is just young and he'll lose this agressive and vigorous touch in the next years.Hope not!

  • nice job

  • amazing contrast O_O''

  • super velmi pekne

  • hardcore violin! so amazing!

  • Yes he is rough but I think that it works for younger musicians. Part of that youthful energy. Although if a really old man played with the same vigor, I would be impressed as well.

This guy is very good. It's amusing because with his shaggy hair, he looks like all the skater dudes at my school, not the music geniuses.

  • He's not a musical genius. His technical skills have nothing to do with thinking or being clever. When he plays fast arpeggios for example he doesn't think how to do it,It's just the years of painful practice paying off.

  • I disagree. I think that musicians who achieve a certain level of playing are very clever. Developing technical skills do take a natural intellect that years of just practicing over and over again will not get you.

  • that is not true. even if your a genius at an instrument you still have to practice, in reality you cant just play any and everything right off the bat. michael is right.

  • unless your name is yehudi menuhin

  • I don't think that's true, he IS a musical genius.

  • A composer like Beethoven is a musical genius.Or a virtuoso like Paganini who could actually improvise

  • .An interpreter is not a musical genius,no matter how good he is.He may be but an interpretation, even a technically perfect and trully inspired one cannot prove it.

  • ...It was supposed to be a sort of joke on the stereotypes of cliques in high school..as in he looks like he's a "skater dude" but he's supposed to be "one of those music geniuses"...these are just broad terms that are commonly used...they aren't meant to be seriously analyzed.

  • Great playing but way too rough !!

  • very good...try the version by jonianviolinist

  • such power.

that violin can't push back enough.

give this man a del gesu!

  • Amazingly beautiful!

  • I wonder how much hours he has been practicing this haha xD

  • I wonder how many people could play like him practicing the same. Less than you may think.

  • I agree with you.

  • How beautiful...You can tell he is very emotional about this, and that I can describe as the most profeshional quality one could wish to attain.

  • I love his style...

  • WOW! He is so energetic and powerful violinist

I want to play like this somday......

  • Gah, you're amazing. I play violin and piano but I'm nowhere near you. Marry me? lol jk :) But excellent job, the colors in your playing are so beautiful, I can't help but watch this over and over :) Good job!!!

  • he is wonderful!amazing!

  • you can do better at the intonation part

other than that it was really nice

  • i apologize for my earlier comment. he's very very good.

  • haha you would... (a friend of mine)

  • should hv said that earlier, calling a pro noob is so un professional

  • ......I can't believe my ear!!!

    How wonderful he is!

  • exactly why youtube made video responses.

  • jeez why did people mark you as spam! you say "congrats cant wait till you get famous!" well how can he get famous if he cant hear an honest opinion from somebody else?! jeez people

  • huh? me? spam? me? what? im plain confused...oh well...>_>

  • Very good over all. i think you were a little rough with the down bow spicatto in some palces and maybey you should lighten up on the vibrato up on the g string when it gets high. well done on the 16th note passages on the last page though

  • You're very good. I am also trying to learn this.

  • lol...his hair...!

  • yeah!!! I agree, but I still he plays quite well, how old is he here-_-

  • Wow! You're quite good for your age. ^^

I look forward to hearing more of you soon.

  • Check your rythm... the triplets need to be a lot more accuarate and the part a little after the second entrance rhythm is way off...

also... do the bowing thats written.. although Lalo was not a violin player, he still knew what he was writing... for the best

  • I didn't notice anything wrong about the rhythm. The part after the 2nd entrance was on purpose I think, I do that too. And, I think the bowings were added by the editor: Anything else think that the fast triplets after about 4:40 should start up? It certainly seems like it'll be easier to play.

  • Comment removed

  • it's not bad, though more accuracy would be appreciated. i think there's just too much chaos in this piece.

  • The only part about the performance that i don't like is the beginning ... it felt to choppy for me

  • amatiguarneri listen to other people's on youtube. his is the best so far

  • fu man

  • lol he has a myspace and i added him XD

  • i thought you did wonderful, and you have a beautiful tone, especially on the high note. i think you will go far, despite what SOME people say... they are probably just jealous

  • I watched most of the performance. Please take my comments seriously without being offended. It's going to be hard not to be, I know you put in a lot of work. My main criticism is the intonation - it was not good. You really have to be much more careful with your pitch if you want to be a professional. Right now you're playing maybe 30% of the notes in tune - that's not good enough. Just listen more carefully, learn the piano, listen to great artists. Best of luck to you.

  • i think you've exaggerated a bit. i thought the intonation was pretty fine. perhaps the part where he had to change violin was out of tune. But overall, it was pretty in tune (definately more then 30%)

  • No I'm not exaggerating. Do you do this for a living? If you play this out of tune for an audition with the Chicago Symphony, or Boston Symphony you won't make it past the first round. That is just a fact. I am not trying to attack this guy, he has worked very hard.

  • Even if you do this for a living it's still exaggerating we can't play every note with pinpoint accuracy and by your standards those symphony members must be out of tune all the time.

It was great for his age and maybe a little too staccato-y (heh) but the intonation definitely wasn't the main issue

  • you're completely kidding me to say his notes lack intonation. that's ridiculous.

  • Great performance, but I must agree that if most of his notes were in tune, many weren't. (I have a perfect pitch and was following along with the score while I listened.) Especially, pay attention to the high position notes; it was slightly worse there. Excellent job though, I really enjoyed it.

  • This kid owns Marcovici!

  • Wow this is so good I'm starting to stray away marcovici's video and watch yours. I hope to someday play a violin concerto as well as you did. That might take MANY years bravo.

  • You are very very good!

    Congratulations!

    :)

  • Hi Marek:

I am an amateur violin player myself, therefor I know the enormeous capacity and talent is needed to play a violin concert as is in this case Lalo's. Let me give you an advise: When the 3 tenors sung, it was incredible their quality and expression, ...but, ...there is a but, when ever Pavarotti sung a spanish melody, he never achieved the expression that this shoud have, the true spanishness, THE FLAVOR. Completelly the oposite when Carreras or Domingo sung, who ...(cont.)

  • wow this is amazing

i wish i could play it like you.

how long have you been playing....10 years?

  • How old are you?

  • I´m 18.

  • Wow, pretty young to play this way! :D Congrats!

  • Comment removed

  • @MarekPavelec oh. cool:)

  • nice =)))

    i like this song

  • You are really good, are you a college student right now? and i was wondering what am i supposed to do when i play first movement of lalo? should i just play it with the same tempo or make a unique 1 just for the beggining and at around 3:03?

  • I am a student of a conservatory in Pilsen.

I think the 2nd theme can be played a bit slower. And the beginning? In my case, you cant call it tempo... :-)

  • Where is Pilsen?

  • It´s in the west of the Czech Republic.
