Well, not just 10 years. They also participated in 1982 up to the end of the turbo era in 1989.

And in all those years, they only managed 1 drivers title and zero constructors titles. They were lapped by the TAG Porsches and Hondas in the eighties and outclassed by rivals Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari in the new millenium. And worse, now that they then concentrate on the WTCC, they still got spanked by SEAT.

It should've been at least 20 years in F1. Leaving is a colossal mistake. The products have gone bland (and I'm an owner), relying on design for the sake of design (looking at you Adrian). At least give the owners something to rally around. Pulling out is a waste of investment to-date. Shame.

Formula One cars are about 60kg heavier than they need to be. Unnecessary weight gets flown around the world, results in higher fuel consumption during races and more fuel being carried on cars during races. The extra weight and fuel are a risk to every driver when they crash.

Engines that only last 2 or 3 races dont seem relevant to road cars. Requiring engines to last longer is one way of slowing the cars down and you can reduce the weight of cars at the same time.

bmw had a great f1 career ask any one who knows about f1, most car manufactures cant get to f1 let alone compete for 10 years, and finished as the big three in f1 for many years, bmw brought innovations to f1 and the engine was the highest rpm engine in f1 history, and you can never forget the fastest lap ever in f1 at monza driven by montoya, BMW is the best and sometimes the best have badluck, congrats bmw and we all hope you return to f1 in some shape or form....SHEER DRIVING PLEASURE!!

Well they did win the F1 championship in 1983 as engine supplier to Brabham, driven by Nelson Piquet, using a 4 cyl 1.5L turbo engine loosely derived from their production car 4 cyl engine. It made something like 1200-1400hp in qualifying at some circuits
