i like this laptop but i have one question i would love to get answered. I cannot get my keyboard to have the backlight, is there not one on there or how do you activate it?
depends... if you upgrade to a 512mb nvidia geforce g 105m graphic card and core 2 dup processor sp9300 which is a 2.26 ghz processor then you can run it with VERY little difficulty but it will pump up the price to about $800
ok this will propably sound like a stupid question, but could i insert a cd to import into my iTunes with this laptop? i would think yes, but i dont really see it in the pictures, because i am always getting cds and uploading them onto iTunes.
i go to school and when i dpn't have class i play a game kinda like WoW i wanted to use my current netbook but it doesn't support the game so wich one of these is better? the AMD or intel?(for playing the game requiem)
It depends which options you get with it. Both should play WoW just fine. The AMD version can be configured with the 4330, which is more powerful than the 105 that is available with the Intel config. But the AMD processors aren't as powerful. Graphics is what you should be worried about with gaming though.

Those were for the specs of the amd model. The amd version is not faster than the intel version obviously (based on what u just mentioned), but what I meant was that the amd version did a good job holding its own. The intel 2.26 didn't blow the amd 1.6 out of the water on the benchmark tests. At the price for what ur getting u made a good decision. Plus the 2.26 intel model is $200 more.
does this computer come with a built in webcam? on the website it says it only has a built in webcam and no microphone. does that mean you can only take pictures with the webcam or can you video chat to?
if anyone is thinking about buying this computer make sure you buy it with the sp9300 intel 2.26 ghz processor.....I just had to return the one I had cause I got the 1.6 turion neo and it was extreamly slow.....spend the extra 100 bucks and get the better chip !!!!
the dm3 is portable, light, and has a 9 hour battery life. The DV4 is more powerful than the dm3 and is bulkier with probably no more than a 3 hour battery life. So it depends on what you want, more portability or more power.
What about installing programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign? Because I know my laptop can hardly handle Illustrator... Illustrator almost always crashes on me, and always say it's low on memory (most likely 'cause my RAM is only 517MB).. But my processor is 1.4 GHz, and THIS new laptop is 1.6 GHz. Do processors also play a big role?
Processes play a big role in rendering images and the likes. Does your laptop have a dual core a single core processors? This laptop has a dual core 1.6 GHZ processor. I would say that it is possible for it to run Photoshop however you would be much more efficient with the DV3, the dv3 is supposedly going to go through a refresh before the holidays and add a touchscreen to it so I would wait if you want to get the DV3.
The highest chip u can get for the dm3 is has 6mb of cache and 2.26 ghz that's not bad at all for a lol lab top the only thing that would of made things better is giving the nvidia card double the mb other the that this CPU cam handle up to 8gb of ram ddr3 ram not bad for a light weight note book

Umm, in case you haven't heard there are a lot of underpowered (18W-25w) 32nm i7 mobile processor , especially designed for SLIM laptops set to release later this year or early '10 (ex: Core i7-640UM). Though right now, its obivious Hp cant include them. But By the Q2 of 2010 we should start seeing companies like Hp, Dell, Asus with such laptops.
And IF 32nm takes off? You better believe it will, after wasting about $7B to develop more faster and efficient processors that they will take off.
i meant if 32nm made a big impact on power consumption. i know intel will make some culv chips based on i7, but i think they will be i5 chips until 2011.

Memory 250GB(7200RPM)

Windows 7 home premium 32bit
etc etc for real cheap price in tokyo. 60000yen which calculates around 600bucks if the yen is not high.
