  • gagaaaa roma

  • Very good performance.

I think the low and the highest timpani should be moved away from you. They are positioned to close to you.

  • Richard Holmes he is not!

  • its a nice piece but i prefer to play it without the chair and a little faster its sounds in a diferent way :)

  • i like the fact that you are patriotic and take pride in your countries music but please dont insult other peoples land beacuse we do thing different than you. Americans are capable of being compassionate and we can create music just as good or better than other countries

  • Please come over here so I can kill you.

  • sounds like the timpani are tuned to a 7 chord but the 5th sounds a bit out of tune.

  • try working on your technique with a timpani specialist rather than just another percussionist.

you will have a lot to learn. also, stop making the audience's ears bleed, your the only person playing and kettle drums are pretty big, loosen yur grip a little.

  • that

  • When I play my timpani at school i release the sound, know what i mean, i would only hit it hard when it says with intensity, but come on why would you bang the timpani like that, and I agree with Timpani4ever

  • yes let the timpani ''sing''... that`s it. its not a snare drum or a drumset to beat it up.

  • Exactly!

  • Learn to get a decent tone from your tympani before putting on YouTube! Sounds like you're banging on garbage cans! Suggestions:

    1) Tune drums to get a better fundamental pitch.

    2) Your mallets not matched. Get a better set of mallets w/same pitch.

    3) Using mallet with more felt & heavier core will help to bring out the fundamental tone that is missing. The piece does not contain lightning-fast passages requiring a hard mallet for articulation.

    4) Work on phrasing let the tympani "sing".

  • Good thing we use French grip and not German ^_^

  • It's seems as if he's hitting a little too forcively. However, don't let this video be the cover of a book of all american timpanists. There are some really expressive players here, especially in a good orchestra, that really make it feel like a timpani should. But how can you say that it's not a percussion instrument?

  • I am a german myself but i have to say that the timpani 4ever guy is sooo wrong. on youtube it may look like many american timpanist are just banging on the timpani like they owe them money but there are also many american timpanists who do their stuff remarkably well. And i personally know German people who play the timpani just like toms. what timpani4ever wrote was just plain racist and he can go fuck himself up the anus....with a cactus

  • o wow, another arrogant german musical bigot. i mean i'm german too, but sheesh, come on. just because germany happens to have a richer history of classical music than the u.s. doesn't mean that german musicians are somehow superior over americans

  • sheer brilliance

  • really good technique and well played but the timpani at times sounded out of tune. probably the camera microphone used. really well played

  • this heads prob just need to be cleared

  • HAHAHA

  • it's not bad, continue working...(sometimes too much gesticulation)

  • Wow, that kid did a really nice job. I would agree with everyone else that the mallets might be too hard, but overall it was a really good solo. I really liked the brushes and the sticks section, that was really sweet. The rolls were also amazingly clean, and the guy who played this is a really good tuner. Nice Job all around.

  • you would be suprised what half the percussionists can do at that high school. they're home page isn't too bad either. they seem to be well heard of.

  • watch your pitch on drum 4 and i feel that ur grip needs to be a little more "french" and the solo is good with cool visual things going on

  • those crossovers wer pretty cool

  • hey im playing exactly the same timpani model in my school band cool!

  • nice

  • cool solo, mallets sound a little hard but you have nice steady dynamics.

  • wow waht was he doing with his head, looked like a douche

  • it sounds like the mallets are a tad too hard...

  • i dont understand..

  • This bloke is a genius at playing those timpanis!!! Even better than me!

  • watch your tone its really harsh but that might just be the micing... what mallets are you playing with?

  • A peça é monótona, mas o timpanista tem boa técnica, boa afinação também.

A good musician playing a boring music...

  • sssssssssssssssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring

  • NICE . this video rocks (:

  • Put your own demo up then. Some are way too quick with derisory comment without giving evidence of their own 'expertise'. Too many armchair experts on this place. Put up or shut up.

  • Word up!

  • What the name of this piece?

  • I hope that it just the recording but every strike sounds like a fucking airattack. no musicality. the piece is crap too. play some elliot carte stuff. thats music!

  • Nice work with the brushes!

  • nice composition. Good technique and sticking, i think the rolls could be more even though.

  • not very god man

  • I loved this piece. His high school is lucky enough to afford 4 functional timpani. In my high school, I had to deal with two timpani that were falling apart. And I did. I played every note! I wish I had a video of me. I'd literally be standing on both pedals and be constantly tuning throughout a song, lol. I would also joke around and play melodies on the timpani like Super Mario. Anyway, I'm babbling. Keep up the good work!

  • Good job.

  • he's whacking the hell out of them/ thats not nice"

  • yeah poor timpani, its such a delicate instrument, anything above mp might leave a mark......idiot

  • Actually my school uses Remo weatherkings and you can play FFF without leaving a mark.

  • i use remo weather kings on my drum set and i beat the crap out of it and it does not dent!

  • He might be able to play it, but it doesn't mean he can play it well

  • Pretty cool! I really wonder if myusernameissocool can really play stuff like this. LOL. I'd like to see a video of him. Pretty good skills for a high school student. This piece reminds me of Carter's Saeta.

  • dude thats not special....unless im amazing, or it juss as i think not special...cuz i play timpani, and i culd do that easy, im in gr.9 too
