  • Man I rode through some shit that bad tonight here in California. Pitch black, with visor fogged up, crap helmet couldn't see shit, scary. I had to ride home from work on the freeway and suddenly unexpectingly a storm rained down. I ride a 09 R6.

  • Ninjaaaaaaaaaa get some gear man!

  • 'get some gear man' LOL, and nice bike :)

  • drenched up to your underwear!

  • damn bro, u are sure passing everyone there like you have to go to save a life. i ride like that only on dry. on wet i ride slower than traffic. nice vid though

  • "Ten percent chance of light shower!" lmao

  • Funny video....good riding, though. Stay safe.

  • Atlanta?

  • Your meteorologist probably smoked a big fatty the night before and is lol at your video. I have a Glock if you want to borrow it.

  • AGHHHHH!!!! NOOOO!!... hahahaha!

  • haha nice sarcasim i feel for ya bro ive been there many times

  • yeh fookin met office are always wrong i hate the fookin rain, its a bikers nightmare well mine anyway nothing fun about it lol

  • Been there, done that. It really starts to suck when you feel it going down to your underclothing and down into your boots. I used to have those exact same gloves until I screwed them up while trying to dry them from riding in rain just like you did.

  • Rain: 1

    Motorcycle: 0

Lol dude, I feel ya... I just got a Motorcycle myself two weeks ago and it already started raining.

  • Man.. Rained like hell today, was driving in about 120 km/h on my moped, and I got to place where the mix on the asphalt were wrong and the road were very slippery, and then I surfed on the water, that shit is really scary! make sure you drive safe and out of water in wet conditions, man..

  • Same thing happened to me....weather men said there was a 0% chance of rain with a sunny beautiful day! i was inside for an hour or so and didnt care to look outside....ended up havin to ride home for 30 mins in a total down pour on my little ninja 250 -.- after that day....i never listen to weather men again

  • @cHr1SGify same story for me .from that moment on i always carry my rain gear with me.

  • Dude were you riding on the carpool lane...you rock lol....

  • @MyRomeo79 Yeah, the carpool lanes are also open to motorcycles. It's a national law for all interstates in the US. Of course now they just converted the HOV lane in my area to a HOT (high occupancy toll) lane. You can still ride in it for free on a motorcycle, but you have to install a transponder so they can track you and mail a ticket if you do anything bad. So no more HOV lane for me...

  • Try it on a racetrack it is fun.

  • I can handle the rain. What kills me is that I drove my car to work today for the 1st time in a month due to bad rain forecast. Worst part,no rain. I'll be riding my bike the rest of the week rain or shine.

  • i hate cars and i love bikes but bikes are not so good at rain (helmet get yet and u cant see,you need good tiers and some more) so cars-bikes:1-0

  • Is it possible that someone could get by on just having a motorcycle as a vehicle? I want to get rid of my expensive car and get a motorcycle instead.

  • @RedSkyNord That would depend on where you live and what your needs are. There are people that do it. As long as you don't have to dress professionally for work, drop kids off at daycare, and it doesn't matter if you arrive at your destination too hot, too cold, too wet, etc. then you could pull it off. Not sure if it's worth it, though.

  • @brentm099 That is very true. If you live in an area with very harsh winters, no. You will need to keep a second vehicle for days with heavy snow and ice. As for the cold and the rain. They make riding gear and motorcycle accessories for that. Not a problem at all. It's just a matter of what you are comfortable with.

  • @RedSkyNord It is very possible to get by with just a motorcycle and not a car. I use my motorcycle as my sole means of transportation. I still keep a truck for those days when there is ice on the road. But other than than I ride everywhere.

  • Is it possible that someone could get by on just having a motorcycle as a vehicle? I want to get rid of my expensive car and get a motorcycle instead.

  • "oh no no no no arghhhhhhh" i sound the same when caught by the rain :]

  • HAH I knew you were in Georgia, checked ur other vids to confirm

  • Quick! Take off all you clothes and start doing pushups, your gonna suffer from hyperthermia!

  • sorry man I was laughing when you went "aah noo !" haha I ride in florida so I know the feeling :)

  • Gotta love getting caught in a downpour... Throwing in a strong sidewind really increases the pucker factor when the roads are covered in standing water :)

  • holy fuck dude, that was a true test for your driving skills. There was no escape either!! well done man!

  • What kind of bike are you riding?

  • @znignflo72 That was a 1988 Honda Hurricane (CBR1000F). Great bike for its age.

  • I hate getting soaked too but more than that I hate it when my bike gets soaked unless I'm washing it. Great narration..reminds me of the conversation I have with myself while I'm riding.

  • awsome

  • Hahahaha

  • "Aw... I am COMPLETELY soaked..." Yes, sir, yes you are.

  • Those mirrors look useless in the rain lol. Glad you made it out ok. Also, I wish laws were more relaxed for motorcyclists (changing lanes/passing etc). I read somewhere that it is safer for a motorcyclist to actually speed a bit over the limit so other drivers will notice them and wont get caught in the blind spots.

  • @SchnauzerVictim In M13's video, he talks about why it's better to go 5mph faster than everyone else.

  • worst ride ever lol sorry man

  • OWW!! these raindrops are sharp!!

haha i wanna put that on a sticker on the back of my rain jacket

  • @williamwarren100 I didn't realize that riding a motorcycle would tear at the very fabric of society. Thank you for enlightening me about people having children in vehicles, it's given me a new perspective on life.

  • @brentm099 well thank you for listening..and I'm happy you understand my point.

  • @williamwarren100 You are an idiot if you truly think someones license should be pulled b/c of wet riding. You do understand that a hydroplane is equated by the surface area of the tires making contact with the road, hence, 2 tires=less surface area. It is possible, but not as likely.

You just have to take your time, and give yourself more room for stopping/turns. At least I know a bike on the road riding wet is paying attention, I see cars all fogged up just cruising like its dry-THAT'S scary!

  • @JFizoust I didn't say...that you should have your license should be taken away bcuz of wet riding..you need to read again what i said!!!

  • @williamwarren100 DeAnna, your a dumb slut.... hope you wrap your car around a telephone pole.

  • @williamwarren100 Oh my god, that comment made no sense whatsoever. But funny it was, no doubt. But seriously, if you intend to reply to something, have some valuable to say, not just some b.s. that makes no sense in the context of the video. He is not doing anything dangerous or illegal.

If anything should be taken away, it should be your possibility of saying something as useless as this post.

    Best,

    Kristian

And people remember: People have their CHILDREN in their vehicles!

  • @williamwarren100 Wifes a dumb ass

  • lol this guy is funny. I'm tempted to get a bike as my only car, but rain driving and winter sounds crappy.

  • oh yeah i fucked my phone up too. Now I keep it in one of those snap lock bags

  • sympathise. I once got caught in 5 minutes of rain like that... on my way to work. Forecast was for clear skies. Rode back home and chucked a sickie. Poured about 700mls outta my boots

  • crossing a double center line? what the hell???

  • @beholderlt Where? There's a double white line, but that's just to differentiate the HOV lane from the others.

  • @brentm099 Sorry, my bad. I've never head of a HOV lane before since we don't have any of these over here in Europe. A double white line more or less means you'll die if you cross it back where I live. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • @brentm099 nope! one solid white differentiates the HOV but it's unlawful to cross double white line FYI ;) oh btw thanks for the video, i came in to watch riders riding in the rain because I'll have to ride my bike to work in the rain today "/ and i just saw how much fun it is.... NOT

  • @bigal8701 Yeah, it used to be just one solid white line here, but then they added a second line because no one was treating the HOV lane any differently. And yeah, I know it's unlawful to cross the solid double white, but sometimes it's miles before you can change lanes and I'm always paranoid about getting rear-ended when I'm stuck behind slow people in the HOV lane. What made the rain worse was that I only had my mesh jacket that day.

  • @brentm099 it opens up a mile before every exit... i know you're a good rider, just saying be safe. HEY guess what????? on my comment above, i talked about me riding in the rain right? well i got hit by a black ice in a 55mph zone this morning and was thrown 10ft i was unconscious, i woke up in the hospital... HAPPENED THIS MORNING!!!!!!!! im fine now but worry about my bike tho... I REALLY NEED YOUR SUPPORT GUYS, i want to keep riding, please everyone who reads this, reply to me!!!! D: THANKS!

  • @brentm099 just ride along the cars???? illegal huh? i love california...lane sharing...for the win!

  • haha fire the weather man

    thumbs up

  • That's scarily simliar to my riding in Vietnam. No rain... no rain... FLOOOD!

  • Rain during the daytime sucks just because you can't see very well. It's even worse at night when you only see starts :p

  • lmao good thing u made it out

  • You win this time rain.....

  • i know how you feel man. was it cold rain? I just rode home form holidays and it was raining sideways and it was about 40 degrees out so cold!

  • Textiles <3

All my kits water proof haha

  • ROFL... i like your vids man!

  • Awesome video. How fast were you going?

  • @observationman That was probably around 75mph or so until the rain got really bad.

  • feel bad for you

  • haha i feel for you bro haha "good lord im driving through a river" i bet you were freezing

  • 2:41 hahaha I know man...Im driving through that water wall all my life...Obviously you have Jet helmet

  • Nice video. what kind of cam did you use on the inside of your helmet?

  • @Jeremybaland It's just a cheap Fuji Finepix Z100fd. You can check one of my earlier videos to see how it fits inside.

  • I'm somewhat considering a bike, but am concerned about rain, snow and other road conditions. Do you still see clearly what's ahead of you when the rain drops are falling? I mean, cars have wipers; what do motorcyclists have to protect themselves? A helmet cap maybe?

    Thanks.

  • @willdex01 There are several products similar to RainX that will make the rain drops bead off of the visor. I didn't have any on my visor when I did this video. It works well as long as you have some airflow. There are also many gloves that have built-in wipers on the back of the thumb so that you can wipe the rain drops off. As for riding in the snow, that's not a very good idea; too easy to lose traction and wreck.

  • I really enjoy your videos. You're fun to listen to .

  • @QuickXilver Thanks for watching.

  • what tips or precautions do you suggest when riding in the rain? and can the rain or when washing your bike take effect on any electrical in the bike? for example going through the gauges and such?

  • @idkyoo In the rain, stay smooth on the throttle and brakes. Remember that you have less traction for braking and cornering. Painted markings on the road will be very slick, and stay out of the center of the lane because that is where oil collects. Some bikes from the 70s and early 80s were known for having electrical problems when it rained, but any modern bike should be fine in a downpour.

  • Same here in Canada Montreal it rains almost everyday and winter ;(((

  • wow that was a good soaking there it sucks i got me a reflective rain suit it dosnt leak at all but rainx is good stuff

  • use rain X on ur visors. will help on times liek this.

  • QT's are the $h!t.

  • haha wow i feel bad fo ya lol

  • valew...

  • que moto é essa?

  • 1988 Honda CBR1000f

  • Brasil!!!!!! =D

  • does the rain destroy ur bike, or like does any thing happen to it. and do you et scared when it rains?

  • No, it doesn't hurt the bike. In fact, it's the only time my poor bike gets a bath. I mainly only get nervous riding in the rain when there is lots of traffic.

  • @brentm099 I hear ya. I ride daily rain or shine and the cagers are my main concern too.

  • Great tour !

I love ride my bike on rain.

  • im in the northwest Ireland and it rains quite a bit too maybe more than where you are in th USA east coast i think it might be bad for like 2 weeks then dry for a week then rain for 3 days straight so its hard to plan rides out . but i still love to ride . good video anyway man wat bike are you riding ?

  • I'ts a 1988 CBR1000F.

  • me being from Ireland i can understand your situation its happened to me on numerous ocasions where are you living do you get much rain there ?

  • I'm in Atlanta, GA, in the southeast USA. It will rain about once or twice a week, and in the Summer, when it rains, it pours.

  • good vid

  • Its called plexus... Good reviews.

  • Great... Good to know, dont think much young riders have tryed this, thanks for reply.

  • Ten min later.... LMAO!!! would putting rain-x on the helmet screen help the rain just flow off?

  • It would, but rain-x can cause helmet visors to become brittle and more likely to shatter in a crash, but they do make similar products for helmet visors.

  • That weatherman is so fired.

It doesn't rain much here in Southern California, but when it rains, it has a tendency to pour. I got caught in a pretty bad rainstorm late night/early morning riding from a concert in Los Angeles to my home in Orange County, on my little Vespa GTS. Thankfully I had my liner in my mesh jacket, but I was still pretty wet.

    "What happens when it rains?"

    "I get wet."

  • I'm planning to get a motorcycle and I am wondering...is it easy to slip on the bike when it's raining? It happened to me few times when I rode my regular bike in the rain on those new paved roads

  • It's easier to slip. You can generally count on having about 80% of the traction that you would normally have, but there are a lot of other factors to consider such as the type and condition of the tires, and how long it has been raining (first 15-20 minutes are the most slippery). I have only had the rear tire slip out on me once in the rain from applying too much throttle coming out of a turn, and that was on old tires when I still didn't know much about riding. Stay smooth and you'll be fine

  • what part of ur body was hurting?? lol I'm planning to get a motorcycle soon and I want to know what to expect you know..

  • Traffic was probably going about 45-50mph when the rain got bad. It was mainly just hurting where it was hitting exposed skin like the neck.

  • how fast were you going??

  • LOL you sound so miserable.

Were you wearing leathers? Or textile?

  • Mesh textile; completely useless in the rain.

  • 10% chance of rain ,, try living in ireland we get pissed on all the time :) had to endure a 3 hour drive in heavy rain last week in leathers so i got drowned not nice ....

  • I guess you live somewhere near me because that looked like the QT on GA-20.

  • You, sir, are correct.

  • I shall slowly narrow down your location. I've seen a few clips on Old Peachtree so it's just a matter of time now!

  • happened to me just last week.... same sharp, painful, copious amounts of rain, and it was only a 6% chance of light rain. Good video.

Hopefully i'll have a vlog going next week, just waiting on a camera

  • Cool. Just subscribed to you. I'm looking forward to it.

  • I know how you feel man. In the rain riding with out you wet gear.

  • Funny how one enjoy watching others in situations where you've been you're self :-)

    Sorry, but thank's ;-)

Btw what year are you're cbr ?

  • it's a 1988

  • this vancouver for like 2 seasons of the year

  • If that was a 10% chance of rain, you must be in Missouri? It happens to us all the time. One day it was 0% chance of rain and I got drenched.

    Great Video!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nope, I'm in Atlanta. I think the weathermen around here are just lazy and don't update their forecasts when things change. One time I checked the weather online and it said it was currently partly cloudy with no chance of rain, then looked out the window at overcast clouds pouring down rain.

  • yea, just like today, they said it was going to rain and unfortunately I was still out, so I hoped on my bike and ran like the day was long using all of the available power of the CBR1000F this morning on GA 138............it's been sunny all damned day.

  • hahaha sorry for your suffering but this is a hilarious video. keep em coming :D

  • Glad you could enjoy my suffering. Thanks for watching.

  • 2 things man,

1st, I have the same cigarette lighter as you and saturday before a group ride the wires pulled out and then blew the inline fuse and ACC fuse.

2nd, during that same group ride we got rained on for 2 hours because we got lost and no one had rain gear lol. So I feel your pain man lol

  • How did it blow the acc fuse after the first one blew? Unless they both went at the same time I don't understand how that's possible. Thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye on it.

After that ride I make sure that I have all of my rain gear with me every time I go out.

  • I have no idea but I'm definitely rewiring it so that doesn't happen again.

  • whoa that is a dark sky! i usually duck down too. if i duck in the right spot the wind constantly blows the water right down off my shield. thanks for the ride

  • Thats a nice LIGHT shower there pal!

    I hate the rain!

  • Whew ... brutal ! It's been a long time since I've been caught out like that ... thankfully!

  • Funny, I had said yesterday, as I put my bike in the shop.....again. Jeez I wonder how it would feel if I was on my bike in this mess.

  • Been caught in a couple of those myself. The worst part I hate is your crotch stays wet forever

  • TMI

  • Light showers.... yeah right.. *lol*

    some rain man!

smart thing taking cover for a while.. :)

    Keep it up!

  • Buy rain gear - a jacket and pants.

Riding in the rain is exhilarating, isn't it? :)

About helmet leakage - you closed your vents quickly, or you don't have such on your helmet?

  • Yeah, I do have rain gear, I was too stubborn/optimistic to pull off the hwy and put it on. Kept thinking the worst of it was behind me.

  • brent you have to look at the animated weather radar map for your area, you can actually see if there is a rain cloud coming your way

  • Man, the rain raped you haha. This happened to me once before. It was quite the experience.

  • Yeah, it definitely had it's way with me. That's ok, I probably needed a shower, anyways.

  • lol, this is really bad actually.

  • lol. It just kept getting worse. Every time I would get through a patch of rain I would think it was over, only to be faced with even heavier rain after a few miles.

  • oh i just saw the end of your video. so what did you end up doing? waiting it out even longer or just braving it?

  • waited it out for 10 minutes but it didn't get any better, so I decided to just head home since I was already about as wet as possible. Seemed like I got stuck at practically every red light on the way back.

  • oh man i felt uneasy/uncomfortable watching that. i would HATE to be caught in the rain. i'd just pull into an exit and hide under a bridge haha.

  • Yeah, as soon as it got really bad I pulled off at the first exit, but I was so close to home I just wanted to tough it out and get out of those wet clothes. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation and you choose to hide under a freeway overpass, make sure you move several yards back from the road rather than hanging around the bike. People get hit hiding from the rain that way more often than you'd think.

  • That definitely looked like it sucked.

Well at least it didn't hail, probably felt like it though.

  • Oddly enough it didn't suck that bad. It's sort of like when you go camping and the whole experience is terrible, but then you're sort of proud of yourself for getting through it. Now if this had happened to me when I was several hours from home then it would have really sucked.
