@heavydpj well not everybody is in the military. so for ordinary people like us, this vid never fails to amaze. It is really a narrow perception when we try to fit everybody in the same mold. I'm sure you have seen great examples in your military service. The author probably didn't have access to your film library for the project, though. This is one of the most memorable and truly touching moments to have ever been captured! I was only a 9 year old kid when this happened and I vividly remember it but just watching this nearly put me in tears. To see that a man was in pain and wanted to finish shows heart and desire.
Through the happiness of almost getting to the finals, he was stricked by misfortune, nevertheless, God pull him from his incredible pain and made him pursue his goal, sending his dad as his helping hand. GOD is always there for us, even when we get to the end of the string. My prayers and respect for this icredible athlete and`a blessing father. Now I can dry my tears!

The bible should be read from the Old to the Present testament. Stoning was outlawed by the Christ himself when he declared that he who is without sin cast the first stone... it's found in the new testament. Including the fact that Jesus healed on a Sabbath, thereby earning the ire of the pharisees. I agree that this shows a certain "sticktuitiveness," I don't think this is particularly "amazing", especially given that his dad helped him.It is, in retrospect, quite ordinary (other than the witnesses). I have seen far, far greater examples during my 20 plus years in the mililtary.

@heavydpj well not everybody is in the military. so for ordinary people like us, this vid never fails to amaze. It is really a narrow perception when we try to fit everybody in the same mold. God's love is centered on our individual uniqueness. I love ice cream but i know one who doesn't. i like my coffee really sweet but i know lots who order theirs without sugar. We were simply not there to witness the extraordinary on your field, because we have chosen to be somewhere else.

I'm sure you have seen great examples in your military service. The author probably didn't have access to your film library for the project, though. In any case, it wasn't a video about Mr. Redmond's "sticktuitiveness" it was about a father who loved his son, saw him in agony, and wanted to help.

This is one of the most memorable and truly touching moments to have ever been captured! I was only a 9 year old kid when this happened and I vividly remember it but just watching this nearly put me in tears. To see that a man was in pain and wanted to finish shows heart and desire.

The issue here is that he had a desire to finish, no matter how much pain he was in. And his father had a great concern and care for his son. Doesn't touch your heart? Still in a quandary? The bible should be read from the Old to the Present testament. Stoning was outlawed by the Christ himself when he declared that he who is without sin cast the first stone... it's found in the new testament. Including the fact that Jesus healed on a Sabbath, thereby earning the ire of the pharisees. We do not consider the bible from other people's view point and opinion, we should read it ourselves to avoid being misled.

I guess you could say that we have no proof that we evolved into what we are today either. Even scientist disagree with that. It takes more faith for me to believe that we are here by chance than to believe there is a creator. I would rather err on the side of a creator. My question might be, where do you get your morals? Yourself? Do you make it up as you go along? Guess we will find out the answers in the end of life. Thanks for your honesty.

xsoul117 is it really necessary for you to bring god into this i mean come on this is inspiring because its a person, and we can all bond feeling his same pain. this is none of gods work simply human will and spirit. the spirit of humanity will always be stronger than any god can give to us.

It is necessary because the video serves as a typology, just as the Lord Jesus Christ uses parables to explain the kingdom of God. I don't see anything wrong in using Derek Redmond's ordeal and struggle on the track field to typify God's love for humanity. Besides I feel I have the right to use this video in a way that pleases one. I just wish that comments were made more intelligent.

@34moss Okay. Let's be simple. Walk to the nearest parking lot. Examine a car and ask yourself this question: Accident or engineering? Then go look at yourself in the mirror. You should see an intelligent human being, capable of reason, emotion, choice, creativity, achievement, dreams, goals, belief. A body that can heal itself, and even replicate. Engineering or accident of chaotic nature? Then ask, Okay, God, if you're out there prove it to me.

You nailed it Cocktimus, I keep coming across these videos where people preach about God being the reason why this stuff occurs. It's amazing because it's another human out there that worked hard all his life and was crushed into rock bottom in one single injury; His iron will to get up and fight again truely supports the phrase "never give in". Life is more than just about going for gold. It's the journey that counts.

@Legacysteve2469 I believe the poster was making an analogy here about how God is LIKE the father who went to help his son, etc... So, why does someone talking about their faith on their own channel offend you? Do you drive around churches in your community shouting down the pastors and yelling at the people in their seats that they are fools? Sort of the same thing here... Just proves once again that atheists are the MOST INTOLERANT of all people.
