Beautfiul cover. I really want to learn piano, especially to play Hillsong songs. But, I'm having difficulty getting started. Should I play with notes or play by ear/memory? With notes, it takes me really long to relate the note on the scale with the correct key on the piano. What is the best advise?
@oceansrise25 it takes time and practice. Start with baby steps. You must crawl, before you run :) I suggest a little of everything. reading sheet music helps, but when you play in church, you don't have time to read the notation, intead you read lead notes e.g. : In Hosanna, the Chorus goes like: E/G, A, B, C#m, A, C#m, B. These notes you must improvise upon, and play simple chords or progressions, with time you'll start developing ideas of your own, be patient with yourself. I was there too :)
@oceansrise25 You should try to learn to read sheet music, then play by ear. Just try to memorize the placement of the right and left hand scales. I use the acronym Every Good Boy Does Fine for right hand lines, FACE for the right hand spaces, All Cars Eat Gas for left hand spaces and Good boys Do Fine Always on left hand lines. After a while you'll be able to look at a note and know exactly where to play it on the piano.
@oceansrise25 no problem! lol now since the link doesn't work in this vid i'm going to have to manually write down the notes :/ o well, i'll do it if it means being able to play this song :P
@oceansrise25 I started lessons at around 8 but dropped it a year later. I'm getting back at lessons like 9 years later w/ another teacher now and i remembered everything again :)
@StarAngelHimehi that's awesome. this summer i am definitely going to practice. So u are suggesting that once I learn the sheet music for a song, I should memorize the placement of fingers on the notes right? so after a while, should i continue to use sheet music or play by memory?
@oceansrise25 Im thinking you should learn the fingering and the notes, then the sheet music. After playing a song long enough, you'll be able to memorize it automatically. I've been able to play 1000 Words on the piano w/o sheet music after playing it so many times.
LOVE it!! But, cannot open the websites anymore..
