I used to listen to this when my family and i went through a foreclosure on my childhood home, and now i can barely listen to this without bursting into tears, I've never been one to share personal stuff in comments, but i can just relate to this song so well.
I lived in the same house from the time I was born until I was 21. They sold it in 2005 and ever since there has been a hole in my heart I'm afraid I'll never be able to fill. It felt like a part of me died the day we left. I haven't been in a place that felt like home since. I keep wondering how emptiness can take up so much space.
I know how you feel. When I was 21 married and had just lost my Dad, my Mom sold the farm house I was raised in with my 9 older siblings. I honestly took the loss of my childhood home harder than I did the loss of my Dad. That was in 1963 and I still grieve the loss of my family home as though it were yesterday. I guess it must be all of the memories because I still dream about going home again over and over.

I first heard this song, and I started crying so hard. I'm in this exact position right now...when life is hard and you feel so far away from who you used to be, you just wish you could go back to it...
Right after my dog passed away last march, this song came out. It keeps me going, I cry but I keep moving. And what you wouldn't know, the biggest, liveliest oak tree in my backyard is where you'll find the worlds best dog.
i lived in the same house until i was 13, right when i moved to cherry creek my parents and i started fighting... i cried the first night i got here, i knew there would be no more good memories in this solid building. i just wanted to say good-bye to the house that built me... you made me who i am
I envy people who have had experiences like the ones described in this beautiful song. The house that built me was one of extreme hurtfulness, and makes me appreciate the one that my wife and I have managed to build together.
When I get married I plan on living in the same neighborhood as the house that built me cause I has never moved I only moved to go to college and that was it I wanna raise my kids the same way I was(:
@ilikemnms202 Me too! When I get out of college I want to move in the neigborhood next to the one I grew up in, my mom would still live in the house I grew up in. :)
Beautiful song. My best memories were as a child at home with my sisters and brother who passed from Cancer in 2005. It touches my heart in a very special way.
i love this song so much :) i am 13. my life dream/wish is to sing with Miranda just one time and if i had to pick a song it would be this song for sure i have hurd it about a million times. no joke. i sung throught it about 100 times in a day so i could learn it on my guitar. and i can never ever get tired of this song. when i am sad i just turn this song on. so if you want to see me sing this song go to my my page mason9723 the guitar part is rlly bad because i was just learning
i can relate to every single word to this song. my dad and i used to live with my granparents most of my life until my grandma died from cancer. his health was failing him too and he did the second hardest thing that anyone could do. he had to sell his house full of love and i saw how much it hurt him. i live in the same town and i do want to do whats in this song but i am afraid the owners will tell me no. both of my grandparents we lived with died.
i can relate to every single word to this song. my dad and i used to lie with my granparents most of my life until my grandma died from cancer. his health was failing him too and he did the second hardest thing that anyone could do. he had to sell his house full of love and i saw how much it hurt him. i live in the same town and i do want to do whats in this song but i am afraid the owners will tell me no. both of my grandparents we lived with died.
it didn't make me emotional, but this really reminds me of me when I was younger. I was born in the upper peninsula of Michigan an raised by my grandparents, but when I was 12, they were both killed in a car wreck and my twin brother and I had to move in with my aunt. Well, now I'm seventeen and I would do almost anything to go back to living in that 150-year-old old house in a tiny rundown town then in a nice new house with barely any friends and too many worries in Grand Rapids, MI.
I am so much relating to this song. Life has not been great these past few years...just when I thought I was supposed to know who I am, I realize I don't know anything. I miss my beautiful mother and the house and home that she created for us and all of the love in that house.
Going through a divorce &needing so much time to think, I heard this song for the first time as I was driving back to Clover Hill where I grew up cause 'out there it's like I'm someone else, I thought that maybe I could find myself!' As I was remembering so many things, just a 1/2 mile after I passed my old house, saw a sign that said 'Remember your creator' Take it as you like but I know so much of me was made back then that is still here some place. God created me & lead me to a place 2 heal!
I started crying as soon i heard this song. And i continued to listen to it and cry for about one or two weeks. Everytime i hear it i just remember the house i was born in and lived the first ten years of my life. I remembered how i didn't know what love was. I was never heart broken, never knew what its like to have a friend betrays you. I just cried. I really just want to go back and recapture those days where nothing in the world mattered. I miss home.
I felt so weird, first time I heard this song I just started crying, and then my mother is like, "What's wrong, what happened?" And I'm sobbing too hard to explain that the song is just that pretty, so she can't understand me. The house that built me, we left when I was twelve.
If I can ever get through the song without getting all choked up, I want to do a cover of it.
i remeber when i wuz little i lived in the conuntry with a farm then we moved to the big city when i wuz 13 and i miss the farm so much but my grandma bought the farm and they live ther and we go vist every summer.
This song hits so close to home for me. I lived in that house for 11 years. I loved it more than anything in the world. It was a really big part of my life. :(
@Mysteryhunter56 the house that i've been in my whole life (16 years) is up for sale, and i really don't want anyone to buy it, cuz i don't want to move....
brings back my child hood past memories and where i was raised
