  • Steve Balmer working wiith the Open source community? You on crack or something? He HATES open source! Even MORE than he hates Google! And you know what happens, if anyone mention Google for Steve Balmer... Be sure there are not any chairs or something else in the room he can throw around. He is a killing machine. Give him an AK47 and mention Google, and he will kill everyobody in the room WITHOUT even blinking!

  • This request is completely pointless and out of the reality.

At least I don't care about the Microsoft code, nor do i think it would be of some use to the Free and Open Source software community.

An the point is NOT that Linux does not violate patents. The point is that software patent are a ridiculous idea that makes ilegal to do certain computations in your computer because someone did it before (!) and paid for the artificial monopoly of the algorithm, and we should reject them.

  • Microsoft bought Novell , and now Microsoft is the third largest Linux groups in the world...

  • this is why I'm working to switch to Linux- Gnu/Linux

  • Steve you can't speak to any university anymore....HAHAHAHA.That happens when people knows the truth...Young people are open-minded....Microsoft is trials trials trials trials, hits under the belt...Community>money keep in mind.

  • Well maybe M$ was trying to pay for the comments written in the source code of Linux.

  • if microsoft ever gets hold of the only operating system source code that the public holds, it'll would be the end of any operating system except windows for atleast the next 20 years if not 50. the time the whole maturation of the operating system would take would be too much for anyone to even think about developing a code for general public to use.

what a disaster that would be!

  • m$ is a virus and nothing more

  • I see a problem with your video. Linux is not an operating system. Linux is a kernel. The userland is often used with the BSD kernel, Solaris, and besides there are tons of other free software kernels (Menuet).

  • What are you?

  • This is old news. But if there really was Microsoft code in "Linux" (do they mean the kernel or GNU ?) then I really think they would have been in court ages ago. I really think they wouldn't be working so hard via their friends to taint GNU/Linux distributions with things like Mono (yes I'm talking about you and your buddies at Novell, Miguel). If there was substance to their claims they would have taken Canonical and Red Hat to court when they refused Microsoft's protection racket deal.

  • Ballmer / Microsoft are what's wrong with the world of computing today. Issues like this one highlight this fact.

  • steve ballmer is a fat and stinky fag. go go linux. fuck that mofo up

  • Damn right we don't want MS code! I can't believe they're trying tu pull that off... it's a shame.

  • this here is so ignorant. paid/educated programmers will write better source code in average than contributors on the internet. what makes Linux great is the peer reviews and the release cycles. This is why Ubuntu is so successful.

  • ms code in Linux?! yet another attempt of the creators of one of the worst operating systems in the world to destroy the best one

  • Steve Ballmer is a robot. You don't mess with a fuckin robot. HE IS CODE BITCH!!!!

Lol, jk. I love Mr. Linus for life!

  • It's all about FUD. MS could easily show the (unexistent?) violating code.

But they won't do it, cause MS just want trow u FUD, without any concrete proof.

  • Of course this could happen. Programming is like LEGO's in a way, the pieces can only fit together in certain ways and still work. I may be wrong, I'm still trying to find a way to properly learn to program. Correct me if I'm wrong.

And also Microsoft isn't willing to work with the open source community, because open source will still exist then and that would mean there would still be alternatives to their products.

  • Couldn't Microsoft just be sued for slander?

Look up "slander" and "defamation" on wikipedia. Seems to me that Microsoft is red hot guilty.

  • Microsoft never intended to sue, but they want to cross license so people will pay money to them for other people technology. Funny thing is that everything backfired to Microsoft since now Microsoft could become a distributor of Linux.

  • You forgot about Eric S. Raymond.
