HORRIBLE play-by-play voice. A team is mounting a heavy attack in a crucial game and what does Emrick do? He's telling stories about what a player did as a kid growing up or what a player's superstitions are. His story then gets "INTERRUPTED" because a goal is scored. IF NBC "really" wants to increase its television audience, they'll drop Emrick & Olczyk and hire Gary Thorne and Bill Clement !!!

Emrick is the worst NHL announcer of all time. Or at least the most annoying. His regular voice is fine and might be ok for an NHL commentator just when he over exaggerates everything for the play by play it makes my skin crawl. He sounds like a wimp trying to sound tough.

He has got to be the most annoying announcers of all time. Hate watching hockey on Vs. just because of his annoying whiny nasally voice. As a Calgary fan I have to give cred to Peter Maher but Mike Emrick is truly one of the greatest broadcasters I have ever listened to. He always seen to find the exact right words at exactly the right time=). So Devils when Mike retires you better have a spot for his name in your rafters because he deserves it.
