hickstead an amazing horse, amazing jumper, loved so much he always gave it his all and tried his hardest much love to him RIP Hickstead gone but not forgotten, truly outstanding horse
Just been reading some comments on some of the Hickstead video's. People really need to grow up, we've just lost one of the worlds best and most famous showjumpers, EVER and quite frankly, if your not a horse lover, or you dont like him, dont Comment. He was and still is a fantastic showjumper who will never be forgotten. RIP Hickstead, have fun galloping freely. <3 x
@thedizze1 You show us that you don't understand the meaning of valuable horses. if you have a pets and they die, you won't say those things too. So please don't type a thing if you can't say something good:)
@thedizze1 go to hell you horse hater....this message just shows how people do not care much about animals and they think that they are sooo different, well sorry to burst your bubble, but you are an animal like lovely hick stead...R.I.P hickstead and don't worry what this person says... you are better than her in every way... you care about other things....
@thedizze1 the difference is that Hickstead had feelings, respect, heart, courage, love, confidence, pride, joy, peace, mind, soul and was, IS an amazing horse...
@thedizze1 ..., so im very sorry if u r 2 blind 2 see that or hav a heart so tiny nd shriveled up to understand because that horse cud of taught u he knew he was goin 2 die, he had the HEART to put up with so much pain so that his rider cud win, he had his mind set 2 the luv of his owner this sud of taught u 2 understand those feelings, but u r just 2 blind nd self-centered 2 see :'( sad (other part of my message cos i ran out of space)
@Shannonandsam10 naa, sry I am being a douche. I just wanna see how people react when someone says something like that. I don't mean it but you should just have ignored it.
@thedizze1 That awkward moment when that was the worst comeback I have ever heard in my life and the fact that I am currently not even in a relationship just makes you look like an idiot. Nice try though, maybe next time?
@thedizze1 Seriously? Why the fuck would you say that? He was a champion, one of the most amazing horses there are. I would like to see you train a horse that could do that, and watch you fall in love with him. Then after all you have been through with that animal, all those memories, and watch him unexpectedly die right infront of your eyes. Would you be eating him? No, you would be crying, as if your Best Friend DIED, do us all a favor and think about that one. Now what to you have to say??
What a very sad and very tragic loss! "Hickstead" had a great career and may be gone; but will not be forgotten in riders circles for years to come! As a team "Hickstead" and "Eric" were incredible to watch. RIP "Hickstead" and blessings go out to "Eric" and "Hicksteads" entire crew!
that poor horse, i followed him on t.v and youtube. and i missed the horse show in verona. but i didnt find out til the next day that he died, but that horse was gone when he started falling, it was just the nerves that were left. why did he have to go in such a terrible way. a heartattack! but he died doing what he loved. RIP u true canadian!
this vide is sooo great :) It's realy saad. I must cry when i see it in the TV and when I watching this video ;(( I hope you understand my fucking english :)
heakstead was a great, fantastic, handsome and wonderfull...horse and we have to remember this...he did all the jumps and untill the end he was whit his eric...and then he saied BYE to him....WE LOVE U HEAKSTEAD...AND WILL REMEMBER U 4EVER...<3<3<3<3<3<3<3...='(
how can people say that humans are more important than horses?? horses are big or small great and beautiful!! sure the people have it bad in africa but they even have horses like us, and i can bet that many in africa feel bad after hicksteads death!!! u can't say that peoples are more important because when one of us riders lost a horse.. i have lost a horse and i cry everyday and it feels like my heart died whit my horse! So don't say that peoples are more important horses are riders heart!!!!
@Ueberzuckert Why in the hell should people be more important to me than a horse? Horses give us everything as riders, my horse literally wipes away my tears and makes faces when I'm sad. He holds me up when I'm weak (literally), when I start to slip because he pulls a 'race-horse-crazy-omg' moment he realizes I could fall and stops, even if I don't have time to collect and ask him to. My horse is 3 years old and he's more compassionate and loving than you.
Respond to this video... Sure, people suffer in different countries. But the question is what are you doing to change that? When I get the money and time I want to go to Rwanda [preferably - because of the history and still somewhat ongoing strife] on a humanitarian mission. But I still care for this horse, and all others. He was a symbol of hope and retribution. He was pure, and trustworthy and powerful, graceful and a champion of all champions.
@Ueberzuckert to a rider a horse is a part of them, they are not separate, they are like our hearts, our souls. They hold us up, they teach us how to fly. They give us everything in return for hardly anything. They are our reason to live, the air we breath. Horses, our mounts, carry us from destruction to a world of hope and forgiveness, they teach us compassion and responsibility. The bond between us is unbreakable, stronger than any bond between humans, it needs no words, because we are one.
@FopHunter7 I can tell by your beautiful words that you have shared the total trust, and union of heart, soul and spirit that can occur between a person and a horse! I've had that pleasure myself, it changed my life! At a livestock auction, this feisty little dappled palomino Arab mare was brought into the ring. Her handler was whipping her, she was ears-back and roaring, scared but full of fight. I outbid the meat buyer and brought her home. Took some time, but I've never had a better friend!
@TheBrendadale that's amazing. I have an OTTB gelding, 3 years old and slowly but surely recovering from a knee chip surgery (which he had before I got him about... 6 months ago now, I've had him for 3). And I'm still working on that total trust thing, we were very simpatico, then he had a 'race-horse' day and went a little crazy and dumped me in a VERY deep and VERY cold puddle, but he stopped as soon as I fell and looked super upset <3 he just wanted to run and have fun, can't blame him...
@FopHunter7 At the same auction where I bought 'Sandy' there were several broken down, mistreated horses. Not a spark of life left in their eyes, boneracks, hooves so overgrown the animals were walking on their pasterns! When I brought Sandy home, I didn't ride her for a whole month, just brushed her and pampered her, laid beside her in the pasture as she grazed. I wanted her heart to heal, her spirit to mend, allow her to trust again before we started working together.

@TheBrendadale Im so glad to hear you saved a lovely sounding horse <3 i hate meat buyers... I've been to auctions but thankfully never seen anything that bad. Though, I did see these two horses who were literally walking on flippers it was so sad. I've never seen hooves that bad!! Even in documents or pictures posted on rescue sites if only I'd had the money or a facility I would have saved the poor things... </3 they just looked so physically and mentally broken. one day I hope to own a rescue
@Ueberzuckert Can't we care about both? Just because people are grieving Hickstead's loss doesn't mean we don't think about starving people in Africa.
@Kabelfrsot the bond is something you will never understand. My horse is my reason to live, he keeps me sane. The bond is unlike any bond between humans. It is unspoken, and without words, but it is strong, and unbreakable. Our souls, hearts and minds become one. They could kill us with one stomp or buck or rear, and yet they do as we ask, they hold us up and give us flight. They wipe our tears when we cry, and make us laugh when we're sad. And they always strive for our safety, above all else.
@Kabelfrsot Every time I ride I have to be so utterly trusting, because I put my life in my horses hands. If he wanted to he could easily kill me, or at least do great damage. But instead he strives to keep me safe, and protected. I trust him with my life and in return he trusts in what I ask of him.
R.I.P hickstead you will always live in my heart!! i miss ya sooo fucking much!! :'( :'( :'( Rest In Peace i will never forget ya!! he was the king of compet horses he was my idol and he will always be my idol!! :'( <3 <3 <3

how can people say that humans are more important than horses?? horses are big or small great and beautiful!! sure the people have it bad in africa but they even have horses like us, and i can bet that many in africa feel bad after hicksteads death!!! u can't say that peoples are more important because when one of us riders lost a horse.. i have lost a horse and i cry everyday and it feels like my heart died whit my horse! So don't say that peoples are more important horses are riders heart!!!!

Why are people being such a****? :/ ..
The bond you have with your horse is something just as strong as the bonds you share with close family and friends, or even greater.
R.I.P Hickstead. You were an amazing horse with a big heart :( Hope Eric is making by fine.

FopHunter7 3 months ago
@Kabelfrsot Every time I ride I have to be so utterly trusting, because I put my life in my horses hands. If he wanted to he could easily kill me, or at least do great damage. But instead he strives to keep me safe, and protected. I trust him with my life and in return he trusts in what I ask of him.
