its funny how things come around full circle. Martin Luther was So adament against monasticism.. and yet now Lutheran Monasteries are popping up all over the place. Even the ELCA has now joined with the Episcopal Church and accepted the Historic Episcopate in the consecration of their bishops! Truly is interesting how things shift.
We believe that Luther sought not so much to "secularize the monastic" as to "monasticise the secular." We have been here since 1958 so we are not new; likewise some communities in Europe. The Swedish Lutheran Church (for example) has maintained bishops since the Reformation. It would seem that much of what appears new is actually old! I invite you to learn more about the rich Christian tradition that can get lost in the Protestant American version of Lutheranism. Peace!
I love your ecumenical spirit.
God bless!!
