  • Higgins should resign for the decency of mankind, anyway, I don't think this is one off, John most likely has done it before and might even do it again. He seems like such a down to earth and honourable man, but sometimes appearances can be deceiving.

  • Feared for his life my arse! Haggling for more cash - yeah, clearly bricking it. Should have handed him the same punishment which Hann received.

  • WPBSA rule 2.8 states: "a member shall not directly or indirectly solicit, attempt to solicit or accept any payment or any form of remuneration of benefit in exchange for influencing the outcome of any game of snooker or billiards."

Higgins was cleared as the panel accepted his claim that he had only agreed to their offer because he feared for his life. Maybe it's just me, but he doesn't look particularly fearful here.

  • I have new found respect for cricket, at least they punished the Pakistanis involved even though Kamran Akmal was let off. Its obvious that these "tribunals" have been set up to protect the sports money as opposed to the integrity of the sport.

If there really is zero tolerance, then Higgins should've been banned for life and Pakistan should've had 8 players banned for life. Zero Tolerance does not work in a world pre-occupied with wealth.

  • @pb509 yea not exactly cheating against his opponents, but destroying the integrity of the sport.

    so i agree with yea.

  • ALL HE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR IS NOT 4 WORLD TITLES BUT A FAT BALD SCOTTISH CHEAT WHO TRIED TO GET A £300,000 BUNG..

    END OF STORY

  • That's it John, you were scared. So scared infact you went all the way over to the Ukraine to meet these 'fixers' (who were actually reporters). And then John, when you got over there and met these people, you were so terrified you negotiated a price with them of 300K (pushing up from 200 K)! John you are a matchfixing prick who has almost defiently done this sort of thing before and you should be stripped of all your titles and your MBE. In short John you are a stain on snooker. **** off.

  • Reading between the lines, it seems that the WPBSA decided that the implications of Higgins being found guilty were just too devastating for the sport, and that once they said they took his defence at face value the tribunal was more or less forced to do likewise.

  • how come the News of the world are not charged with trying to fix a match. Journalism or not, they tried to make a deal.

  • Load of bollocks.

I don't know who are the biggest morons: the News Of The World, or the toothless, backward idiots who buy the worthless rag every day.

He was found not-guilty at a tribunal that was headed by a former police Chief Superintendent.

Also in this video at 2:30 John looks very uncomfortable, with his hand on his head, which anyone who's done 2 minutes of psychology will tell you is a classic sign of stress & discomfort.

Well done for winning today John. You're a legend mate.

  • @tizmond

Agreed, I have done no Psycology ever, and even I can see he looks uncombfortable. I think he looks fairly relaxed in the beggining, but once the reality of what he's been asked to do sets in he gets more and more uncombfortable, and just looks like he wants to get out of there.

  • what a fucking legend, hits back against the critics in the best way possible, with the UK and now the world championships, he admitted he made a mistake, his manager was royally fucked over (and rightly so) for putting him in that situation as it was shown that going into the meeting John Higgins did not know what he was walking into...

  • @barnett83 And he also could have walked straight back out

  • @barnett83 Totally agree mate, Another thing mabe all John was, was niave, News International always tell the truth don't they haha ! phone tapping entrapment and Lying to get a story so who knows what went on before the camera started rolling. Too many people jumped on the gravy train to condem Higgins are propbably the same hypercrites who applauded him tonight, All i care is how he has responded, which is too say I'm so proud of him given what he's went through. GREAT SCOT

  • This is not just "not reporting an approach" This is actively participating in organising a fix.

John Higgins has not been punished for his crime and is a disgrace to snooker but even worse are the pathetic Snooker body who said they could not really punish him because it is not their event.

John Higgins has not been punished! Snooker is a farce with him as World Champion.

  • The News of the World are a team of fucking cunts.

  • As much as i think this is an outrage, Do the papers just set this up and two undercover reporters make some shit up? or was the deal on anyway or? However in your everyday life if someone asked you to throw a couple of things here and there that would only harm you for 261,000 pounds im sure you would do it

  • you see alot of comment here saying he is cheating.

He is not actually cheating. he's throwing, for 300,000.

so he's not doing anybody harm, only himself.

he;s just being a greedy fucker. which is wrong.

  • @cuplafucall He's not proposing to cause any harm to fellow snooker players... but losses from betting scams will mean that the bookmaker has to pay out a lot of money, which ultimately result in higher prices for ordinary punters.

  • @cuplafucall "He is not actually cheating. he's throwing . ." i presume that is a typo ?!? lol

  • there is some thing not right about that video it keeps cutting and only shows bit that incriminate joihn with other things the news of the world have been up to (phone tapping etc) they should be prosecuted and put out of business this is entrapment. ok so john could have reported it when he got home but with the mafia track record he could have been shot for all he knew

  • Cheating vhermin.

  • I agree with others, he looks quite relaxed, not just playing along imo. I think the 6 months ban was taking the piss, should've been years.

  • Even now this footage shocks me.How on earth he,s still playing the game is beyond belief and clearly sends out the wrong signals to up and coming young players about this great game.It would be awful if he won the world championship but clearly shows cheats always prosper no matter what punishment that is given out.SHAME ON YOU JOHN HIGGINS.

  • fucking cheat

  • Also they manage to push the deal to 300 instead of 200. It don't look like they were scared to me, more like enjoying the moment

  • He ain't that scared when he's talking about paying off that mortgage in Spain. Fucking rat bastard. They don't even mention it anymore on the BBC.

  • He looks pretty relaxed to me. Hasn't he earned enough money, at the peak of the sport? He's red handed here. Plus, the lady at the betting company identified him on the telephone betting on himself which was the other scandal. Terrible. I will support any player against him. That said, he is still a magnificent player.

  • i'm watching this cheating cunt playing now against ronnie o'sullivan and john higgins shouldnt of been allowed to pick up a fucking cue again in my opinion.i wouldnt have him working in the local corner shop..cheating fucking lying cunt

he claimed he went along with it because he was scared etc..fucking bollocks..hes as relaxed as fuck here

    if i ever see him..i'll fucking tell him..honest to god i will..cunt

good lawyers got him off..fuck you higgins and youre fat fucking wife

  • the way he speaks, he obviosly did it before.... this is very common in sports where u only win alot of money if u play good constantly. Davidenko was also suspected of such things when he had a couple of slower years... I'm pretty sure many other sportsmen do this. So what? U got to earn a "honest" buck :D:D:D

  • Hope this cheater does not become world champion again!

  • @gav25x Looks guilty as a puppy sitting next to a pile of poo to me. Shameful

  • Comment removed

  • @bigronnie1971 Guilty of what? having a discussion? no money was exchanged!

  • @gav25x only cos he got rumbled! intent was there clearly. Just as bad IMO

  • @gav25x The morons at the news of the world should have waited until there was an exchange of money before trying to ruin his career

  • tiesto the nite troops here we fukin goooooo!!

  • I just watched an interview of him nearly crying on bbc over this and i felt a little sorry for him but watching him laughing and joking, shaking hands and having a drink after he makes a deal with the devil makes me wonder just how "scared" he was! I don't think it looks good for him at all but we can all lose our way in life... there is no coming back from this and he really should be banned for life from competition.

  • @zidanny5 Yeah, and i saw the greedy bastard last night on tv in his comeback match at the UK and it was as if nothing had happened with the crowd clapping etc ; made me angry as i thought there would be dissent

  • He should be banned that is corrupt as fck !Makes you wonder if this has occured before ?

  • omg. higgins has become corrupt with old age. greedy and selfish cunt. why would he risk his career for 300k if he has made over 10m in total career earnings? because he is a greedy bastard!

  • Guilty!!! He said he was so scared in that hotel, just wanted to go home. If that was the case, he wouldn't be discussing how he can pay off his mortgage with the bribe money! I hope he never plays again!

  • @ivarus75 exactly what i was thinking!

  • guilty as fuck

  • Greedy Scot
