Thanks for posting this. The sections of the video that have demonstrations on the dirt court yard was taped and released by the Korea Hapkido Federation in the mid 1980's. I first saw this tape in 1989. Thanks- I have not seen this in may years. Master Sands- 6th Dan Korea Hapkido Federation

@TheChazmaro You can in a sense comparable to the Ju-Jitsu. In fact, the beginnings of hapkido vs aikido are common. The creators of both studied martial arts with the same master. Hapkido is however more complex. Taekwondo Training Often people expand their training of hapkido. In hapkido philosophy is water. Water can flow, it can be hard as ice, water or steam it.

@Kiryu2011 both arts coming from same ancient art... aikijutsu, both now there is two flavors of hapkido, classical and the new hkd (its using kicks from taekwondo), the last one likes me more but both are really effective...!!!!

Besides focusing on the techniques, we need to realize that those whom the techniques are being applied on, are experts in 'falling' as well. Any one move inside the video cast upon you or me would pretty much make us broken dolls.

i am currently a yellow belt in hapkido and that is because i switched to a different sensai. most of the techniques that are taught is joint manipulation, bending of the joints in a way that they shouldnt go. also, a lot of throws can be performed by using this and it is very painful.

I had learnt taekwondo for 15 years, but what i always said the technique self defenses of hapkido is the art i'm going to learn, believe me i hadn't learned this kind of kombat art in taekwondo.

you gotta remember that most Hapkido demo's are done with people who know how to fall, the idea is to demonstrate the technique, if you do those throws on people who DON'T know how to fall safe, they break rather easily. So Demo's would have a rather high attrition rate. The techniques work and are real, believe me.
