I was honestly really disppointed. I was expecting something completly different. Mafia (1) was so better. Even trough you had to drive so far. It was so more fun. There was a lot of more sense in that game, the interesting explorating of the huge city when you headed for the mission.
This Mafia2 Contains like, a Window you can open for no reason & run the showers. No, baseballs sticks, Knifes, brass knuckles. NO trams, trains in the city either. This was just a game they did to earn money.
Originally the game was supposed to have way more World War 2 missions and two whole others years at the end, as well as numerous missions and side missions in between. Nice going there 2K

I personally think that Mafia 2 was great, I never played its prequel, but the overall quality of Mafia 2 was great. It had allot of small cool details and lots of progress in the environment during the time that you played the game. I know it's shit that you can't enter the subway and take a giant crap on a hotdog man, but due to engine limitations (the graphics) you can never make it as open world'd as you'd like. It's simply not possible yet because of these graphics

GTA IV runs shitty on my PC at mid graphic settings (23fps) and looks just okay, Mafia 2 looks awesome on high detail and runs smooth. (32fps) GTA IV on PC sucks.
I think the publishers were just trying to hard to not look like they were copying GTA. They removed jumping, swimming, and no subway. I played the demo which had alot of crap cut out in the final version of Mafia II and I actually thought of buying this game but I'm so glad I didn't!! Also, the story is VERY short.

Subway is very good and MUST-HAVE element of gameplay in such games in many situations: 1) Subway useful to escape from police. 2) It is good to navigate city. 3) Some missions can be designed for subway (for example Niko Bellic's escape from Liberty City bank through subway). 4) Sometime it is just funny to ride rails on car or bike :-).

this could have been such a great game! 1950's old school mafia . great story, great graphics sweet city. And no modern gadgets but when I commit a crime It looks like every cop has a smartphone or a Netbook to email my profile around town. And nowere in town a bank to rob except 3x 10 stores. I bought the game to and wasn't pleased with the 12hrs of gameplay and no side missions but either way this game is made to just be a gangster and cause chaos in the city.
Notice how they focused on robbing stores and fighting other gangs. This game is all about killing people they don't care about story just a game based on role play along with chaos

And yet, all throughout the game Vito can turn on faucets, run showers, & open windows for no apparent reason. So wiseguys don't use subways, but they run faucets for no fucking purpose other than to see water run? Are the developers of this game really that fucking stupid?

this could have been such a great game! 1950's old school mafia . great story, great graphics sweet city. And no modern gadgets but when I commit a crime It looks like every cop has a smartphone or a Netbook to email my profile around town. And nowere in town a bank to rob except 3x 10 stores. I hope they make it up with DLC but I doubt it. Maybe it's me and am I to spoild or asking to much from videogames.

Honestly, I love the game, good fun but I haven't finished it yet, and honestly sort your grammar out, "the history was more long and deep" - should be longer and deeper.

What the fuck was 2kU game thinking?
Ofcourse this game was suppos to be historic. But why is there no Free ride (free roam) playing? :S
And the fucking Psysichs in this game is horrible. It looks like Saint ROW 2.
Theres nothing to do out in the streeet, its so boring playing around in the city & the aiming totally sucks.... shame on you 2ku

I bought the game to and wasn't pleased with the 12hrs of gameplay and no side missions but either way this game is made to just be a gangster and cause chaos in the city.
Notice how they focused on robbing stores and fighting other gangs. This game is all about killing people they don't care about story just a game based on role play along with chaos

@Smacin123 Yes, but what we were saying, if you want make the chaos or anything else, you need a Free Ride... Mafia 1 was Free ride, why in this no??... If you look the videos, all time Joe is with me, because you cant do Free Ride without have any activated mission... Any way, if you think mafia 2 is make it to do the chaos, play at GTA 4, see it seen i think GTA 4 is mucht better. (my personal opinion)
