I lived in Kauai for nearly 4 years. Oahu wasn't for me, too crowded; I didn't last 24 hours in Kona, Big Island (a local from Hilo warned me to hit Hilo first or I'd never see the rest-true!) I'm heading back but am considering Maui this time around, It's rumored to be a "go between" Oahu and Kauai. Not to fast not to slow. In any case, I love Hawaii! :D
I CAN DO IT!!! lets see what happen in 5 years, i got love ones i want to be there for. it'll just be like how i'm living now, only without ghetto populous frustrating bullshit...
i don't drive, have few priceless items, and simply settle in a decent studio apt. i hate always being at home anyways
My wife and I are moving to the Big Island on January 12th, 2011. Follow our website that will highlight our joys and challenges. You can follow us at CARLWHEATON . COM
We will be your guinea pigs, and no, we aren't rich. The video said it was easy for the rich, so we should be expecting some hurdles!
I'm 21 -- I REALLY need a change of scenery in my life, I've lived in big city after big city all of my life, and I just can't take it anymore. I visited Hawaii about 4-5 years ago and it was astonishing to say the least. My mom moved to Hawaii when she was like 22 and lived there for a couple of years and loved it. Can anyone give me some information -- what would be the best island to move to(as a 21 y/o), what's the average rent for studio apartments, and how hard is it to find a job?
I want to move there. so. bad.

Move to Oahu. Period. Look at craigslist to get an idea of jobs and housing. GL!

Its not paradise...yes, its nice...but it has its ups and downs like everywhere else. its not cheap, and Hawaii is expensive.
