The closer to the neck, the darker the tone. The closer to the bridge, the brighter the tone. As there generally is not a lot of "wiggle" room, the changes may be subtle. Cheers, Lace Tech
There should be no reason to cut a hole in your guitar to install the Acoustic Pickup, unless you plan on using an endpin jack. That will not affect the tone of your guitar.
There are those that find it convenient to use the 12 foot cable and male jack. However, we do also offer the Cal Acoustic Pickup with a 2 foot long cable and a switchcraft 1/4 end pin jack for internal installation. We thank you for your comment. Lace Tech
I am sure it is a nice pickup and easy to install but I do not like the idea of a 12 foot cord hanging out my guitar as some bozo will step on it and then pull the wire right out the pickup...or worse still tear up the guitar soundhole as it gets pulled out the guitar...maybe you can terminate the cord at a 2foot length with a 1/4 inch female connector so that way the connection would pull apart and less damage would be done. Just a suggestion.
@sahilcc7 If you wish to permanently install the pickup, you can use a Switch Craft 1/4 inch End Pin Jack. You can do this yourself, however if you are not experienced in this area, we suggest you have it done by a competent luthier. Lace Tech
Can the cord be removed from the pickup when you want to take it somewhere where you wouldn't have access to an amp, and want to play it acoustically instead? The cord seems an awful hassle to carry with you when you move a lot.
I have a question, I'm installing a guitar pickup on my acoustic, does it matter where you install it?, like is it like an electric where if its more towards the neck it's more bassy and towards the bridge = more treble?.
I'm a beginner when it comes to mods, so any help (without being mean/sarcasm :P) Would be appreciated :).
On acoustic w/ stacked humbucker... There's hum through the amp that stops when I touch metal on the cable or amp, or reach in and touch the wire connecting the pickup (which is wired directly into the pickup.) Is there a way I can better shield this thin cable? Wrapping with aluminum tape, perhaps? Is this a grounding issue? The fact that it goes away as soon as I touch something give me hope I can make it go away altogether. Can someone help me figure this out? MUCH Appreciated!!!
I really want to get a pickup but, I just hate seeing that cord sticking out of it. I don't want to drill holes in my guitar. How would I be able to hide the wire dangling across the body?
take the cord straight down, pull it some what tightly under the guitar, then pull it towards your strap button, wrap the cord from rear to front over your strap button, then put the strap on.
I felt the same way until just recently when i finally installed a piezo pick in my guitar. all you see is the cord going down from the pick ip and under your guitar. after that it'll look something like a strap button input.
Is there anyway of cutting the cable and hard wiring it into a jack at the end of the guitar so you can plug it in like a regular acoustic/elec. guitar?
Towards the neck would be a bit bassier - towards the bridge, a bit more trebly. It's designed to go on the top portion of the sound hole, however you can put it anywhere you think it sounds the best!
They're $99 at guitar center - the endpin jack would be a great choice, because you can install it internally when you're ready, and use it as is in the meantime.
I recommend an acoustic amp and I can tell you why. It has a passive-active button switch on it which you can turn on like a pre-amp boost switch. It also makes your acoustic guitar sound like an acoustic guitar. If you'd like more info, email me back.

I would suggest removing the male end, and using a Switch Craft 1/4 inch End Pin Jack. Lace Tech

Is there an adapter which will turn the male end pin to female so I can use it internally? I already have the pickup.

can we put the pickup near the bridge instead of the neck?
BlindShorty11 1 year ago
so you have a wire hanging of your guitar even when you want to just play without a amp

How can they call it an acoustic pickup if it picks up movement from the strings, not the guitar's actual sound?

@arthur84 because its for an acoustic guitar lol

i wonder if distortion would sound good with it.

@otac101 idk about distortion on a 6 string acoustic. on the other hand a distorted sound sounds amazing on a 12 string guitar give it a try !

Does it work on a guitar with nylon strings i.e. a classical guitar?
Omar5674 2 years ago
Nope. It's a magnetic pickups and needs to see some metal before it'll generate sound.
